I get this advice a lot like that you should test ideas before you scale them but when you do not have a customer base what do you do.

    Take MASSIVE action and start getting that customer base.

    But you don't need to have a massive list in order to start testing - just start sending some traffic to your offers, squeeze pages and track everything - see how it performs.

    As a small test - I'd suggest sending 100 targeted clicks to whatever it is that you're offering.

    If you're in the IM niche - solo ads is the fastest way to go about doing this.

    Definitely use tracking on your ads. You should be able to tell pretty quickly what works & what doesn't.

    You must first sit on that bike before you learn how to ride that bike! I came into this business without a single clue, without a mentor, learning things the hard way. I had to figure a lot of things on my own, and by getting on the field. Eventually I learned from many mentors, and eventually I felt confident in order to make this work.

    - Has it been easy? Hell No.

    - Has it been all learning experience? Hell yea!

    The key to success is first starting, and taking action everyday. Nobody knows how things will pan out entirely, but if have a goal in your mind. Think of a way you can accomplish that goal, and from there take a step one day at a time toward it until you eventually learn how to "ride your bike". Before you know it you will be so good at what you do through trial and error and through experiences, that you will be riding your bike with no hands! That is how internet marketing works. You must take action and learn it, and never quit! Eventually you will succeed!
