Today I saw this sentence: Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

What's your thoughts on this opinion?

Real happiness is when ur in the gym, pumping some heavy-ass iron and ur muscles are engorged with blood, ready to explode. Endorphins are running, adrenalin is sky high and u feel like a God.

      • just listened to an interview with a very successful person.

        Google search "mark cuban"

he was directly asked about happiness.

1st he said knowing bills are paid, is a good feeling and life is easier.

But, he said he was happy when he was poor, middle class, and now a millionaire.

I would say that is real.

google movement as basic human need and how it makes us feel.

to me, there is no greater Mind, body, and soul effects then working out.

I happy going to, doing, and happy with the aftereffects of exercise

35 plus years on consistent exercise, with no thought of stopping.

either move or stand there and bleed

    Wrong.

Let's say for example I'm thinking of hurting someone and I say I'm going to hurt them, then I actually do hurt them. How exactly do you class that as happiness because you're in harmony?

That's interesting . If you hurted someone you hated, I think you were happy the moment you hurted the person. But after that moment, you were probably not happy. Because the police would arrest you.

Wrong to the wrong. That is not harmony so hurting someone is not an example of this happiness opinion.

That's about being 'congruent' - when your thoughts, words and actions are aligned.

People have TONS of different opinions about happiness - and no one is right or wrong - because what makes someone happy, might make someone else shake their head...

...in my opinion, a universal trait of happiness in people is PROGRESS. When you're making progress in something you feel alive, filled with passion and excitement.

That's what I believe happiness is.

Real Happiness is when you're free of all fears and from the biggest fear, death. When you're free of this, your motivation and desires will really be true to yourself.

    Just an opinion .

    • Word Origin and History for Happiness

1520s, "good fortune," from happy + -ness. Meaning "pleasant and contented mental state" is from 1590s. Phrase greatest happiness for the greatest number was in Hutcheson (1725)

late 14c., "lucky, favored by fortune, prosperous;" of events, "turning out well," from hap (n.) "chance, fortune" + -y (2). Sense of "very glad" first recorded late 14c. Ousted Old English eadig (from ead "wealth, riches") and gesælig, which has become silly.

      Meaning "greatly pleased and content"

      ************************************************** **********

A study done by Richard Davidson, a professor of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin, showed that when Buddhist Monks experienced bliss as they entered a trance-like state deep in meditation, the left prefrontal lobe of their brain crackled with increased electrical activity at a tremendous rate.

The findings in this study, which was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, suggested that bliss or happiness is not just a vague feeling,
but a physical state of the brain.

      ************************************************** *

      from William James :

happiness is created as a result of our being active participants in the game of life. Instead of brooding on the suffering and evils of existence, we are to readjust our attitudes and act as if life does have an ultimate meaning, even though this can never be proved by the rational mind. As James writes, "Believe that life is worth living, and your very belief will help create the fact."

if your not happy, Act As If You are, til the rest of you catches up!

Happiness is going after your passion and doing what you love - for me that's gym, music, windsurfing. But let's be honest, it's very hard to achieve this if you don't have the $$$. That's why I started my online business and can't be happier about the results I've been seeing in the last couple of years.

    Cheers

I agree with this 100%. In my opinion this is the equivalent of talking the talk and walking the walk. Happiness is being the person who you want to be. Not caring what others think, and doing what you want to do in life.

For me real happiness is being able to live your life in the way you want it.

it doesnt matter if you like doing this or doing that. happiness differs from one another. theres no definite explanation behind it.

Disagree. I think it should be:

Happiness is when what you think and what you really want are in harmony.

What you say and do some times are not in sync while you are on your way to what your want.

There is always a bit of lag time since we are always dreaming up new things to want.

    Example:

I want a new car, I am thinking of ways I can get a new car, I am excited about getting a new car. I am happy.

But in the mean time I may still be driving the old car but I still can be looking forward to the new one happily.

Real Happiness differs from one person to another. Also real happiness doesn't necessarily mean that what you think, say and do are in sync. There are chances that you may be happy just thinking about something you wanna achieve but the way to achieve it is not very happy but in the end you will still be happy.

Happiness does not depend on what you have or what you are . It solely relies on what you think.-Lord Buddha

    • I'm in Harmony right now.

but, that is not reality though.

we can't go through the day with everything in harmony.

it's how we respond, how we then see it, how we act ..then constant reaction, adaptatation, and failing, looking bad, screwing up, and more that count.

asking for Harmony, is just asking for a "magic bullet"

IMO - I could be wrong

reminds me of the saying - "We talk in generalities, but live in detail"

I think happiness is when you devote yourself 100% in doing something you really like doing. Happiness is to be the "real" you.

For me true happiness will be when I can do what I love doing most whenever I want and having the least amount of unpleasant activities (I don't think it's realistic to aspire to a utopian ideal of never having to do anything you don't love doing).

When I have no worries and can focus on the things I like best.

Until then I will be happy only temporarily, more accurately I'll be content in the moments I can enjoy without being reminded of a dark cloud lurking nearby.
