What Do You Do When You Get Discouraged?

I only do PPC and I love it!

But some days for no real reason some campaigns will go from 100/day profit to loosing 50 dollars.

And as the title suggests I get kind of down.

And I'm sure with every field online you have times where you get discouraged when you don't make as much money as you'd like, or none at all!

So what do you when you need a little pick up?

I'll start the list.

1) Make the house shake with loud up-beat music...

2) Go to a move with some friends...

Anyone care to add to the list?

Zach

    4) Re-think your position, and do things differently

    That's what i would normally do.. C",)

      Volunteer and help others.

I am a volunteer writing teacher at a local prison & that helps me appreciate what I have a lot. Plus my family helps with pet rescues and right now we're even fostering a sweet little black Lab who was rescued from the Humane Society. A cruelity case, she was starved, just bones, and living in filth when someone called to turn in her owner for abuse and neglect.

A lot of people and animals could use help. And many appreciate what you do and make your own life's woes seem much, much smaller.

I'm with Liz (Stay At Home Mum),

Going to the gym and loud music cures all!

When I get home I'm in a completely different frame of mind. It always works for me. I feel strong and ready to take on the next challenge.

The exercise gets the heart pumping, more oxygen to the brain for clearer thinking, releases endorphins that create a good sense of well being and helps me know I've done something good for myself.

The loud music just makes me feel good.

Everyone gets down from time to time...

the secret is to look at the bigger picture...

there are millions of people worldwide alot worse off than any of us in here and if we evaluate that situation we can move forward and start to think with more positive thoughts and be more grateful for the things we have now which in turn will lead to bigger and better opportunities and to take action on those opportunities

Don't feel discouraged... live for today and dream of tomorrow...

I must say it was fun reading
    every ones post Thanks Zach.

    Having fun while you work
    makes you realize levity
    is good for the soul.

What i do Zach is prepare myself
    by perfecting a process than
    automating it.

i start with a standard of measurement
once testing has been done. it's
either I end the program or I continue.

if i continue the goal is to automate by
outsourcing so that I can begin anew.

In this way i shelter myself from a down
turn by working with a process.

    Produce, Test, Systematize then Automate.

At the end i diversify and produce new campaigns
so that no one thing will put me in the dumps.

The key is to not invest too much emotions into business
decisions of whether or not to discontinue a campaign.

In starting a project I do use gut feeling along with research
but having loss bundles in the past I have learned to follow
Kenny Rogers and "You Got To Know When To Fold Them".

    Now relationships that another story.

I tend to go and read comic books.
    Marvel mostly.

Not more than a year ago (and I am 40) I really-really understood that ups and downs are a part of our human life and downs never last forever. So now I know that when I am down, the up will come soon no matter what. And this does help. I acknowledge to myself that I am feeling down when I do and I look forward to this stage to pass. I try to communicate as little as possible with the others during the "down" time to affect them as little as possible and try to think of something good (not always possible, but sometimes it is, and the more I practice it the easier it becomes). Or I try to explain to myself that the thing that caused the "down" stage is not really important enough to be allowed to spoil my mood. And willingness to move on and get out of the bad mood stage as soon as possible also helps.

Well said... I couldn't agree more. Down times don't last forever.

I differ on not communicating though; problems need a safe outlet. Communication is always good, but we have to be selective who we talk to and how we say it.

I usually read some sort of motivational book. Sometimes I even switch gears and work on something else for a while.

When i get dicouraged then i do the followings

1- I leave the work which i have been doing.
2- Relex myslef to two to five minutes.
3- Then I recall my mistakes.
4- When i recall my mistakes then i get aggressive on myself and commit not to repeat the mistakes. At this time my discourageness vanished and i get up with full devotions and courage.
This is my point of views.

I would spend more time with my children and wife. Children seem to be detached from stress and even if they are discourage or sad, they somehow manage to bounce back with renewed energy and zeal for life.

My wife never fails to cheer me up with her smiles and very often, she has her quiet ways of letting me know she will be there for me always.

    I love you all.

When I am feeling down I usually watch a funny movies and just laugh my head off. It has been proven that just by laughing will give you a mental boost and it is great for your health too.

Taking a walk is always good but some of us live in areas that are cold that the walk is not always possible. But always remember that whatever your situation, there are always still some wonderful things happening around you.

You are wonderful, special and awesome and don't you ever forget it. You Rock! Keep telling yourself that.

    • Since we usually do our business in front of our computers, it is really helpful to get the necessary break away from it in any given day. When you feel that you're becoming less productive than what you intended to become, then, I believe being away from the object of your frustration or discouragement helps. But it doesn't mean that you are running away from it, it is just that your body needs to pause.

Things that work for me when everything else seemed to be letting me down:

Sing. Even if music doesn't want me to. Our body is essentially designed to let go of negativities and stress through breathing. If you want to scream, and you know that you'll feel better in the end, just go ahead. Scream (and sing) to your heart's content.

Being with my pet. Ready to freak out? Need someone to console you? Research shows that people feel calmer after stroking their beloved pets, especially when they feel that stress is getting the best of them. Want to live longer? Experts say you shouldn't get stress get in your system. And, of course, get a pet.

Believe that everything will work out fine. When all else fails, just know that everything happens for a reason. And, you know that no matter how all things work out for the opposite, it will lead you where you are destined to be. Be optimistic. You will see that rainbow after the rain, no matter how long you put your head down. So just keep moving!

Hi Zack , i have had the same thing happen to me .I was promoting a repair product and i made my first $100 online. it was an incredible feeling was so excited everyday to check my clickbank account and i recorded a series of loses on the same niche and i checked my ranks and i saw a lot of people had come to the party and it was time to leave

I stopped my campaign on google adwords back then and i stopped doing anything IM for a while

What i did was find alternative free ways to get this quality traffic so that even if they don't buy and i am still okay and i don't make a loss .

    Everything I make is profit

    Much love ,

Exactly, free quality traffic is where it's at, turning a profit with AdWords is very hard, especially as an affiliate (as we all know).

I read a book... I find that when I totally take my mind off of my problems for a while, when I come back I'm refreshed and better able to see the best path through my troubles.

Plus, when you are doing something totally different, it's amazing how often good ideas will pop into your mind - seemingly from nowhere.
