What Would You Give Up For Success? I've BANNED Beds From My Home...

Why Beds Are BANNED In My House!

The first day of 2015, I took a vow to be the best I've EVER been. I took some extreme actions that people may call insane, and that very few will understand. But, I understand the role sacrifice plays in success.

So many people lack the understanding that you must give in order to receive. In anything you wish to accomplish in this world there is a balancing act. Some could call it Yin and Yang, some may call it... give and take... some may call it sacrifice and success. It's all the same thing essentially.

I made the decision that I was absolutely NOT going to let anyone out grind me in anything I do. My mantra is money doesn't sleep!
I've put myself in a position to where I am now living this mantra down to every cell of my body.

Without a doubt, 2014 was a great year for me in many ways... I challenged myself mentally and physically. But 2015 I decided to turn it up a notch.

That is why I got rid of EVERY bed in my house, I gave them to various family members lol. Every room is bedless. None. Nada! Gone! Even if that means company won't spend the night, I dont care! Lol. I'm invested in my success.

Why? Because I want to revamp my work ethic and take it to the next level. I am reconditioning myself to survive in hustle mode. I absolutely will not let anyone out work me.

For me that meant getting rid of my beds. I will only rest when I feel I absolutely need the break in order to prevent myself from being burnt out.

I know this is a bit extreme and may be a little dangerous, but it is a risk I'm willing to take for myself and my family to make sure I make the most out of the 24 hours I get everyday.

So many nights are turning to mornings and my days are kind of running together now. But, I feel more energized than ever before. I'm not stagnant or stuck. I'm always taking action and only letting up from my hustle when absolutely necessary.

It's really hard to believe how much having a bed can really lower your productivity. No more watching movies in bed, no more reading books in bed, no more just LAYING in bed wasting time, and definitely no over sleeping... atleast for the next 6 months.

Something I've learned from studying other successful people, is when you're on a path to greatness you can't be afraid to lose sleep.

The hours of 11p.m.- 5a.m. are PEAK hours. That's when everyone else is sleeping and only the dedicated are still working.

How much do you think you could accomplish if you took advantage of those peak hours? Whenever your competition is in a deep slumber you're still in hustle mode.

I know giving up your bed may be a little extreme for you and certainly may not be called for to give you your extra boost, but I guarantee you that you have something in your daily routine that minimizes your potential productivity.

One golden rule when dealing with sacrifice... As the great Lance Armstrong said "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."...

Surely not having a bed is uncomfortable, and there are times where I can feel my body crying to lay in one but I have a vision that is strong enough for me to pacify my physical wants at the moment.

Never knew how our bodies could be so spoiled to comfort. Lol.

Thanks you for you time, have a successful 2015!

We must make sacrifices everyday in order to achieve our goals.

We must make sacrifices that will do ourselves good in order to get to the next level.

In order to achieve success we must give up the things that hold us back.

In order to achieve success we must see what it's like living with limited resources.

It is only than you will find success when you know you MUST succeed no matter what.

On a couch that I absolutely hate. Which means I only sleep to get enough rest and when I absolutely feel I need to lay my body down.

While I highly compliment you on your overall drive, I do have a concern about your health. I agree about your concern of movies and books in bed, but our physical bodies do need sleep. If you hate your couch, you aren't going to be able to relax enough to get the solid sleep you absolutely need to succeed.

two of the top reasons people go bankrupt are medical expenses and divorce ..

i went through cronic sleep depression for almost 10 years ..and it did terrible thing to my health that i have just now about got done fixing ..

take care of your body ..you get no props for being young rich and in the graveyard ..

money is currency and flows in and out of your life..your body will be there for the rest of your life ..you need to take care of it ..

you might be safe from divorce..or even keeping a girlfriend or lover ..if you are that extreme about what you do to earn money ..

10-6 am is not peak time to work..10pm to 2 am is the time you get the best sleep

I love your enthusiasm but trust me on this, it is not a good decision.

There is a difference between an workaholic and an achiever. You need rest. Otherwise, you'll just burn-out.

So here's a suggestion - go find an office to work from. Stay there 18 hours a day if you want. But get at least five hours of quality sleep every single night.

I've tried your experiment before and after day three or so, I've started to feel the exhaustion. Emotionally, I was pumped up but physically, I needed rest and a lot of it.

Time & money & energy are connected. In order to make money you need time and energy. In order to gain more energy you need time.

So apart from the actual effort on your business you need to do three more things:
    1. Eat right.
    2. EXERCISE.
    3. Get some decent sleep.

In the end it is your choice but trust me, been there, done that.

If you want to be REALLY productive, get into a room with only a bed, a laptop and no internet. Or go to a place where there is nothing to do. Since there is no easy way out, you'll find yourself working, out of ambition or boredom.

    Hi Suuny,

I applaud your commitment! But you might have overdone it
    a bit. Maybe not.

Do you sleep at all? I only sleep 4-5 hours a nite but I don't do
well on 2-3 hours a nite.

I must confess I like my bed. It is my meditation seat, my dining
table, my work desk, my recreation seat and my resting area.

Yes, there is a danger in getting distracted but I feel relaxed and
I am good at getting done what I need to get done.

But everyone is different. Keep us posted on how your "bedless"
life is going. Wishing you success!

    Be Well

Don't skip sleep, it's not worth it. Rather, try and save that time somewhere else. If you spend time on social networks, cut that. But not sleep.

Wow that is some serious commitment. You're definitely doing whatever it takes. I highly respect you for sacrificing your bed for increased productivity and focus. I think a lot of people aren't understanding what you're trying to say.

You're basically training yourself to get comfortable with discomfort which is a trait that is needed in order to become successful. Nowhere in your post did you say you weren't going to sleep at all, so I'm not sure why people are responding with warnings about health.

You're simply getting rid of beds, which obviously were holding you back from truly taping into your potential. Nothing wrong with that. You know yourself better than we do. If you have the heart to sacrifice your comfy bed for a not so comfy couch then go ahead and do it.

    Hope everything works out.

Sounds pretty ridiculous. If it works for you, then great. But trying to stay up as late as possible while working every night sounds like a terrible plan if you want to remain productive.

Also, I find it ironic that you quoted Lance Armstrong, who only won his races by using steroids.

Nice but way to extreme for me.

I'm curious. Did you also remove all other leisure time from your life? No TV, no friends, no spouse?

    Cheers,

looks like sunny d was spending to much time on the forums and found a way to get himself banned ..

    i don't know though ..

maybe that is the way when somone comes up with extreme gimiks instead of the real discipline to only sleep in bed and not spend extra time in bed ..

Salvadore Dali used to sleep in a chair with heavy keys in his hand over a metal plate, so when he sunk deep into sleep the keys fell down waking him up and he continued to work. Many account his works to halucinations induced by sleep deprivation - who knows

I for myself took a drastic step:

“When your army has crossed the border, you should burn your boats and bridges, in order to make it clear to everybody that you have no hankering after home.”

In a situation without savings, with a small baby and a rent which is coming month to month I quit my 9-5 job so I could buil up something on my own.

Without good health, what would be the point of all this?

I met a guy (one of my first mentors and coaches back in 2006) online who was an EX RCMP Sargent (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) who used to make $300K Per Year after quitting his police job.

His friends and family laughed at him because he was quitting an 8 year career in law enforcement to pursue a career in IM.

Lucky for him that he did because he couldn't ever make $300K in a year as a cop.

But he did something that ended up costing him his success...

He figured that if he could make $300K per year, why not work 3 X the amount and get 3 X the income right?

That would be $900K per year!

    Wrong!

Sometimes when you 'overdo' things, it can work against you (just like it did for my friend).

Now this same rule apply's off line too.

I know an EX Trucker named Vinny. He worked his a$$ off to make big $$ in the trucking industry. His widow still lives in their million dollar house that Vinny Bought. But luckily for him, he died in his sleep.

Yes his house is worth over a million now.

He was about 64 when he died.

I know Vinny because I used to work with him.

Another guy I know owned a very successful Auto Body Shop here in Canada. Sure his house is paid off now but his health is gone.

He lives in that house right now but spends most of his time 'in bed' without much health.

Why wouldn't you let your family use beds?

Where do you sleep? I haven't had a bed for many years but it hasn't changed my life.

I applaud your motivation and will. But you need to take care of your health too. Health is wealth. That crucial amount of sleep daily, in my opinion, shouldn't be sacrificed.

Great way to motivate yourself on pushing to meet your goals. But I suggest you put the beds back and just look at it for more motivation. Continue to sleep on your couch, then if you have done something major, reward yourself with a nice sleep on the bed. Do not completely deprive yourself of the BED, it does wonders to you.
