What does Valentine's day mean to you?

Today 14th Feb is celebrated world over as Valentine's Day. Universally it is the lovers' day. Indeed, it's a great feeling to devote this day for your loved one; if you happen to be the lucky person who has found his/her true love in life!

But there are also some unique ways to celebrate it. I see some people celebrating it as a Thanks giving day! Some groups of friends are just coming together for an evening party. Being a weekend, some are spending with their family. Some young people are seen helping out and caring for older ones. All over I see people in some kind of celebration mood

Whether you are in love or not, this day does carry some excitement and special meaning.

So what does this Valentine's day mean to you?

    That's a real, pragmatic answer.

    Why?

    Because you don't dedicate one day of the entire year to show your love to the other person.

    You do that EVERY single day. Every morning, every evening. Sometimes you can due to other circumstances but investing in the relationship is the rule, not the exception.

    So as far as I'm concerned, for me, it is just a way to offer and receive a gift. This is because everything else (connection, intimacy, love) is a daily ritual. Even gifting happens at least a 3 - 4 times a month.

    I feel sorry for people who are waiting for a special occasion to do something special.

    Christmas for offering their loved ones a gift ...
    Valentine's to show their love to their significant other ...
    Birthday's to celebrate that person ...

    This can be done EVERY single day. Life is about making the most out of today, not about waiting for that special event.

    i am not a holiday person// they really don't mean much to me ..

    for the most part holidays have turned into days off work for some ..and reasons to spend money to buy stuff on others holidays ..

    this one is kind of hard because the girl who wants me to marry her ..is on the other side of the planet and in the hospital..

    I am not sure how i feel about her but if/when i have money and she need it i will send it to her..

    we can bull shit ourselves with the words we use .. but where we put our money .. tend to show what we really care about ..
