Hey guys,

This is basically my entrance post to me starting my Internet Marketing career, I have been a reader for a while and I have now got a strong enough basis to get started, so now is as good a time as any for me to start taking action!

I was recently made redundant from a job, this has given me some more time to spend on this career move, this has got to work because the 9-5 grind I can sum up in a single word -DEPRESSING.

Any tips or ideas that anyone has feel free to share

Its nice to have finally taken the plunge and made my first post to this awesome community.

Gavin

First the best of luck of course with your new challenge so to say.

I'm into IM cause I like the passiveness of it, based on that desire I decided to mainly focus on organic traffic through SEO means. It's likely many will advice against that cause of the risks attached to it, however no business is 100% risk free, it just doesn't exist.

SEO costs money to do it good, that's a fact, however PPC / media buys cost money as well and with those you keep on paying till eternity, which isn't necessary the case with SEO when you start of good. Paid traffic is also risky at the start, it's not easy to run a profitable campaign and while trying you can easily burn through a lot of money.

The downside of SEO though is that it takes long, it's no exception anymore to not rank at the first page in the first four to six months, that's quite a long time and easy to give up in between, I recommend you to stick with it though.

As a starter it's probably best for you to try a few different things while keeping a close eye on your wallet, if you want to experiment with SEO I recommend to setup 2-3 sites instead of just one, than you can go a bit wilder with one of them to see what works and what doesn't (some methods work well but only for a very short time, think of churn & burn).

If I were you I would start offering a service first, you could promote that with a low budget at IM forums, like this one. This will result in some direct cash flow and you can build it out to a full fledged business, assuming you offer something that's in demand. You can either fulfill that service yourself or find a reliable partner to outsource it to. I wouldn't go up in the hype of ebooks / guides but that's entirely up to you of course.

Either way, good luck with whatever you choose to do!

    Hey Gavin...stay strong my man.

I know what you mean in regards to the work 9-5 stuff. Some days can be a lot harder than others. What I noticed though is that when you have something on the side that you are working for (your side biz) it makes it a little bit easier to go on with the day to day stuff on your regular work. You have to remember that a lot of people just do the 9-5 thing and that's it, nothing really else to live for.

Starting your own biz puts a weird energy in you to be a "go getter". Not to be satisfied with the typical 8 hour work day. It gives you something to look forward too after work. Even when you tired and feel like crap. I guess you can call it "hope" for better things in the future. I don't know but what I do know is that since you made the decision to strive for something else, your days should feel a bit more for filling because you know YOUR TRYING to make something happen.

I agree the 9-5 grind is depressing. I just recommend you look for a mentor or someone who you resonate with and you would like to learn from. Then model what that person is doing. You could start by buying his/her products and applying what you learn. If your mentor offers coaching then you could join their coaching and work with your mentor directly.

First of all congrats for taking the leap into Internet Marketing. Much success to you in 2015 and beyond!

tip 1: Don't fall into the trap of buying every new course under the sun... You'll waste money and get bogged down by information overload. Information overload leads to procrastination and you'll never get anything done.

Tip2: Find yourself a mentor, a coach, someone you can buddy up with that is already finding the success in Internet marketing. This won't be free, but will be 1,000% worth it. You can defiinitely find someone here on the Warrior Forum willing to take you on as a student for a very reasonable price.

Tip3: start building your email list right away, from the very first day you decided to start Internet marketing you should be building a list.

Tip4: make as many contacts and connections as possible. Help anywhere you can. Give value anywhere you can. Build your network everyday. Because trust and believe it's not about what you know but who you know.

I can go on and on with tips but these should get you rockin on the right track.

    Welcome to the IM world.

The best tip I can give you is to get a coach. As long as you take action, i don't see how you can fail IM with someone who is doing IM full time coaching you..

    Cheers,
