Seriously what's the point?

Goodness am I having a hard month; actually a hard 7 months.

It's like every single promise I had is fading into the sunset and there is nothing I can do.

UGH.. I've been doing internet marketing for 11 years and have NEVER had success. I was kicked out a group of marketers because they didn't like me. I started with freelancing and went back to that since November and it's still not working to create something steady for my family.

While in a homeless shelter the worker said my work isn't considered work because it's not consistent. And since then that has been on my mind. Nothing is delivering that need. And I really have no idea why not.

It's like this pure fact of .. what's the point? I take orders from fiverr and try to provide my list with longer projects and nothing. I feel like I'm screaming for attention and no one can hear me. Like I'm swimming in the middle of the ocean and no one will ever see me because I'm invisible.

I've had depression issues before and now feel that coming all over again.

I decided last week to stop and change my focus. I'm going back to school to become a doctor because I know it's actually worthy of my attention. It's the complete opposite of writing and does make a steady income even if I get the most lame job ever.

Why can't I have success? What is wrong with me that I can't get anything online to work long term? Even my list!

I must really suck if after all this time I still can't make enough money to even buy groceries at the end of each week.

I'm normally this really happy women but today it hit home that I'm simply wasting my time and nothing works and most likely it will never work because I suck at this. 11 years gone and now it's time to focus on my back up plan and do projects on the side.

UGH..

I'm so sorry to hear this, sweetcrab, especially when I see that your writing skills are certainly up to par. If I may suggest, I really, really, really recommend damn near anything over Fiverr. Fiverr is most appropriate for automated tasks such as scripted services and such.

So Textbroker sounds like a much more viable option for you. It's a little strenuous over there right now because of some staff/editorial/client changes. But if you can turn in flawless work, you could earn $25/article or more. I write through that service occasionally and use it as a back up funding depot.

Give it a look see. It's a legit service, it pays on time, and there are opportunities to charge anything you want over there.

Let me know if you have any questions. I've written through there since '11.

One point I'll address that's irrelevant to mindset is to change your pricing for writing.

I see from your site that you charge well over 3 cents a word for some of your services. Perhaps you've tried it in the past, but I highly recommend you try it again. Charge 2.5 cents a word to get some clients going on reorders then raise your price when you get too much work to handle.

I get that you are a respectable business-woman doing this writing stuff yourself, but take it from a fellow writer (i do fiction for kindle). You need people to see your talent and fiverr just isn't the place to showcase that for most people. You either need to connect over facebook, which i have done, or here in the warrior for hire section. Use $20 to post an ad (or whatever it costs, i forget) then post that in your signature as you post in the forum (bump your service thread only when you have solid cash flow).

People will flock to you as long as you have some writing samples readily available on your thread AND tons of reviews to backup your performance. And then you offer to write for as little as 2.5 cents a word starting out (you're restarted things here, so work your way up) and do so ONLY in exchange for a written review of your services. You should make quite a bit because people gobble up those discounted writing services.

As a note, i write purely for my own purposes now, but i started writing at despicably low rates until i had some traction to invest into other things. You don't have that luxury of waiting to invest because you're a mommy and need to get that income flowing again.

Please don't take that any of this as an insult but rather a new insight into an otherwise dark and dreary past few months.

As a side note, if you'd like to create some income from your own publications I have a ton of kindle material you can study at your leisure so you can publish your stuff and create passive income from it. That's what i ended up doing rather than selling my stuff for peanuts to others. Just PM me if interested, seriously.

Thank you tons for your advice.

I write fiction already. I have 14 books via kindle that are both fiction and non fiction. They don't bring in more than $20 a month. I have a handful of books I'll publish soon because no one will buy them

Thank you for offering kindle material. The group I got kicked out of was a kindle marketing group. That whole thing made me have a crazy break down. I don't even bother with that kind of stuff because it's mostly from those same marketers who broke me down in a matter of minutes.

The price I have via my website is a bit higher than the price I have via fiverr.

I am already slammed with work so reducing my price is out of the question because I've got maybe 15 to 25 orders a week. I couldn't lower my rates because I know it would double my orders and extend delivery times for past clients. Also I'm a fiction ghostwriter. I rarely write non fiction/ articles for clients because I charge 6 cents per word because of the research element.

I have placed ads on warrior forum as well. Not one sale. I think I put like 3 ads up and none of them even got a hello. lol.

It's nice to get all this advice. But it sucks to know it's things I've done and it still doesn't work for me.

Thank you for your advice -- if only it worked after 11 years.. LOL

I suck at proofreading LOL.. I actually have a person on my team for that because I make tons of mistakes.

When I had non fiction on fiverr I had some extremely rude clients. One threatened to leave me tons of negative reviews simply because I wouldn't write on her subject. I'll research and see what others do for non fiction there and decide.

Something to remember (that may be helpful) is that the past doesn't equal the future. Just because you haven't had any success for 11 years doesn't mean that you can't have success in the near future.

You must be doing something wrong in terms of what you've been trying online. Change it up. Try something different (that you would also enjoy working on). I personally believe that anyone can be successful online and there is an abundance of evidence of that fact.

Something else you may consider is having a mentor and/or someone who can show you exactly how to make a consistent income.

I'm sorry to hear about your depression. I've suffered from that as well. However I wish you all the luck in The World and I'm sure that no matter what you decide you will be successful if you truly want to

If you try hard for a long time and nothing works, it's time to change your perception a bit. First, take a look at your situation like if you were an alien researcher who only cares of truth and not the outcome. What do you see? What could be corrected, changed in the way you approach things in your life?

Also, just take a break! It helps, believe me. We tend to overestimate conscious efforts and underestimate time needed to recover as well as work of our subconscious mind, which takes place mostly when we rest.

Steps above should build a base for positive changes in your life.

I just had a look at your site and (please don't take this personally) I would think that the home page should be more about what you can do for potential clients. I know you have written your story there...and towards the end, it seems like you are begging for work. I am only guessing but maybe that is why people aren't flocking to you as fast as they maybe could.

I know you said you are always busy. Well, maybe it is too many small, cheap gigs that makes you busy but doesn't build real cash flow.

I did notice a typo in your home page as well you wrote "sale" instead of "sell."

I am a writer myself so I know how hard it can be at times. Perhaps you need to rethink your whole strategy? Maybe focus on new avenues of work. Non-fiction is very much in demand so maybe explore that avenue more as well.

Also, just pushing via Fiverr is restricting your income potential. Your site clearly pushes people towards Fiverr instead of making enquiries directly through your site (and maybe giving you the chance to charge more).

I wish you luck and please don't let it all get you down. Depression is something I DO know about, from personal experience.

    @Sweet...

    ...Niche Down.

Write ONLY for a high-ticket marketplace, and get known for it.

Direct 100% of your marketing towards sellers in that niche.

And then you'll be able to raise your rates and get paid what you deserve.

I did this years ago in the scientific & testing equipment niche...for CONTENT writing. Not even copywriting. My electronics, manufacturing and especially my APPLICATION knowledge enabled me to write great content that knowledgeable buyers said, "This company knows what they're talking about!" in response to.

Leading to them accepting higher prices for those products.

Meaning the sellers could pay me more.

$100 for 600 words may not seem like a lot to some people, and it isn't worth my time now, but I could bang that out in 3 hours and make decent coin with it. 5 or 6 articles, month in, month out, and you have a steady core of a business from one client.

And once they're happy with you, they'll stick with you as long as you deliver.

Low pricing and desperation usually results from your CONFUSION. I know--I've been through this confusion many times. The key is to make an intelligent decision and stick with it.

Thank you all for your input. I'll consider it all.

Yeah I'm begging for work like every day and not getting anything at all . I feel I'd have better luck begging on the side of the road then via my list.

I'm sure there are plenty of spelling/grammar mistakes within my site. I miss things often and never claim perfection. It's the main reason I keep my prices low and don't do high priced copy writing -- I suck at it. People expect perfection and that is something I can not deliver no matter how many times I've tried to.

Currently fiverr is the only way I'm getting work each week.

I've had a mentor before who stool all my money and gave me nothing but more heart ache. I can't afford to put out thousands of dollars for a good mentor when my husband and I are living paycheck by paycheck.

I use to think of myself as a writer and hope that some day it would be the answer to all my dreams -- now I will go to school ; get a part time job while in school and write as a pure hobby. At least with a hobby I can maybe begin to love it all over again. Or be more independent with it.

Depression sucks with luck once school starts in another week it will fade into the darkness.

Thanks again for all your input ; It was all highly appreciated.

You need to make a call-to-action contact form front & center on every single page of your site (top/left sidebar).

Don't make traffic work trying to figure out what your doing or how to contact you for buying content. Traffic is lazy, they'll bail from the site & find another seller.

My advice is remove your personal life from the Home page, the content on there now is better suited for an About Me page. Put your best sample content on the Home page.

No offense but If I'm looking to buy something, I'm not interested in other peoples problems. I have enough problems of my own, lol.

Lots of valuable advices out here.

Branding yourself would perhaps make you feel better about your online presence. It will help you to raise your prices - 100x more. Ask a web developer to put an optin form on every single page and remove your life story from the landing page (copy paste to 'about me' page).

Mentally, you are exhausted. That's all. Take a break.

When it's time to come back to business, you might:

    1. Write a 3 months writing schedule (this includes autoresponders and your website content).

    2. Integrate RSS feeds to reduce your website updating efforts.

    3. Are you a better fiction writer or an non-fiction writer?

    4. Add yourself to groups (yes again) and be a valuable member

Some examples of Non-fiction writers group and fiction writers group

    5. Plan for a WSO.

You have 11 years experience working online so stop begging like a starter and act like a pro which you are.

Maybe I am not at the level to give you advices. But "SMworkcafe" gave you a perfect guide to live in as a freelancer.

I always wondered about you for why didn't you write Kindle fiction seriously. Yes, you taught others how to write books, but you never write for yourself or under your name. I know there are many coaches teaching others and writing themselves on Amazon etc.

      Proofreading:
Yes, when I mentioned this we had unnecessary fights and you completely stopped replying me even if I replied you that you need not give me any refund. But you forgot to check and correct your writings; I believe you need not any proofreader that you can correct all of your writings yourselves if you check.

      My suggestions:

      1) Create a website. And add an email subscription option to create a mail-list.

      2) Join in Guru, Elance and Odesk (now they are merged as 'Upwork'). Mention your success of the Fiverr (here you have to edit your gigs and reduce the word count for $5) on your profiles. Not only Fiverr, mention you did a huge ghostwriting projects.

      3) Start posting a story on Amazon every week. And write about them on your site. Your subscribers will buy them; at least, half of them.

If you don't mind getting coaching from other coaches, I suggest to go. Why don't you contact Angela (angelabooth.com). I never had taken coaching from her due to money, but if you can spend, you definitely get success from her coaching.

Hope you take my message in a positive way.

Looking much better now. Personally, I don't think this theme is going to get you anywhere. Maybe changing the look of the website and providing better user experience to your audience would make things happen for you?

11 years wow... keep at it, no such thing as failure...UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.... So you hang in there keep going strong and you'll get there... fiverr is hard also because of so much competition for such little pay... I'd recommend a business you can start for free and earn money the same day... but trust me there is nothing wrong with you.... 97% of all marketers fail.... but thats becaus ethey dont learn the required skills to succeed.... DONT BE LIKE THEM and instead learn everything you can and APPLY IT take ACTION and it would be pretty impossible to NOT earn money... need any help at all just let me know i have 7 years online experience and make more than what most make in a year, in half a month... (not boasting just inspiring) to maybe show you anything is possible if you truly apply yourself.

in any case here if you need help.

Thank you for all the advice and opinions. It's nice to hear the advice and motivation.

    Anyways!
I'm trying hard to take all this advice and continue to do this online stuff but darn is it hard!

I sent an email out trying to bring in some income -- and like always -- nothing..

I decided to spend some time today doing what was recommended ; I made a landing page for my services... Chimica Writing - Children's Book , Novels And More Ghost Writer

It sucks I know... I will have my proofreader make sure everything looks okay later this week.

I wrote a tiny report as well.. so I still need to make some kind of squeeze page for it. No idea how I will even get people to the squeeze page.. it's not like solo ads are cheap and the topic isn't something people even read about so I doubt solo ads will even work.

In the back of my mind I keep saying -- waste of time and money nothing is going to work might as well go and beg on the street might make more money... I'm just so tired of putting in so much effort not making anything for all that effort...

I've considered doing a blog but at this rate I doubt it'd be a good one... I'd need to make a calender of topics before I even start it.. we'll see..

I'm just tried but I am still trying to get over the grief...

Still thanks for all the advice and guidance.. It's all very helpful.

sounds like you have discovered that "internet marketing" is mostly 99% lies and that if you attempt to follow the lies you get garbage in return.

What you are missing is business savvy, plain and simple. You have no learned how to generate income. This is due to a worker/consumer mindset (not your fault, you were raised since birth to process information this way)

You must learn to be a creator.

I am willing to speak to you by phone (no offer to sell you anything, sounds like you are not in a position to afford my services right now) - but I can help you see things in a different light and hopefully spur you on to success.

I want you to know that you've been past through a lot more than you realize. You are tough. Don't think of the past as a collection of defeats. Those are the war score of how much you can endure.

If I had your skill of writing children's books, and i liked doing it, here's what I would do.

      I would:

      1. Write 1 awesome childrens book for any section here:

      http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...hildrens+books

Needless to say, the quality should compete.

      2. Hire an artist to draw graphics for my book and obtain the copyright.
      3. Combine the story & graphics to form the book
      4. Go to an online book printer service (i bet there's tons online) and order some copies
      5. list the book on amazon, ebay, and maybe other online marketplaces for books, both paper & digital (kindle)
      6. repeat the process for different categories of books, learn what works, what doesnt

i would also probably try (but i dont think it would work well at all):

      1. set up a store for childrens books where parents can find books by genre/age and possibly preview the first few pages
      2. send PPC to the store for various keywords like "childrens astronomy book", "childrens biology book" and so on

      i would also highly recommend

      1. contact any place that has kids (kindergartens, day care centers) and offer my books
      2. find and contact childrens book publishers. heres a list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...dren%27s_books and see if theyre interested in publishing my books in real bookstores. this is probably the most important thing to achieve in your business.

i cant predict what what will work, but that's what i would try if i were you. you cant apply the bullshit sales page list building method to everything. most parents who want childrens books go straight to amazon or a real bookstore, so you better sell where the buyers go.

make it a real business with real clients. you've been wasting too much time on this forum. you havent had success with childrens books + internet marketing list building/fiverr bullshit because you're going about it the wrong way. that's not how you make money with childrens books. and idk how nobody has told you that in the 11 years you were doing this.

this forum is 99% naive people getting fooled by 1% con artists, and a huge chunk of the naive people try to also bullshit their way into the 1% by preying on people in need, as nicely exemplified by the user with 1 post "Writer" who just wants you to buy coaching for a crapton of cash. one of his recommendations was to "build a list" is that some kind of joke? clearly most people here have no idea what the hell they're talking about. i never wrote or published a book in my life but i can tell you with certainty building a list or getting "internet marketing coaching" is not what you do to sell childrens books.

      ok rant over

I would like to say that I feel your pain. I struggled for 2 years before I had a breakthrough. There a few a things that I noticed that I would to share that I hope would help you. Please don't take any of this personally.

    1. You sabotage yourself quite a lot Multiple times you are bringing yourself down rather than lifting yourself up.

    2. Begging your email list for work is not the best way to go about it. Ask them if they are in need of help with anything. And if you get no response it may be time to see if you can use your writing skills to benefit you in another way.

    3. If you have been trying to be successful with one thing for so long you either need to make adjustments on other ways how you can monetize your skill.

ie: Write a book and publish the book on Kindle and then create a course on teaching people how they could do the same. And if you think that marketplace is saturated always remember that when you go to the book store you will always find multiple books on many topics.

    3. Instead of writing for others write the children books for yourself and sell them on Kindle.

    4. Don't wait 11 years to find if something is working for you or not.

    5. Usually when it takes people that long to see success with something it usually stems from jumping around from thing to thing. And only you can be real with yourself on this one. Have you really focused and dedicated yourself to one thing or have you stopped and experimented on other things from time to time? No need to answer this here. But be real with yourself on that one.

    6. Last but not least I would recommend that you perform an honest analysis of the past 11 years and see what decisions that you have made in the last 11 that got you here at this point. And when your doing this be careful to not lie to yourself and blame others.

ie. How did you spend your time? How did you spend your resources?

I know that there some situations that you dealt with that were out of your control but what did you do with the time and situations that you could control?

But in regards to business plan, I would check out generating income with Kindle. Or write a book and create a course on teaching people how you wrote and published your book.

    Hope things change for you!

The problem is that you are not good at what you are trying to sell. Not even my opinion, you have said that yourself.

People only pay other people who have the skill to do something well or offer a product that is good.

You need to choose something that sells online and become good at it. Its that simple.

You are thinking of giving up when have not even really started. You are not even in business yet because you don't have something of value to offer.

Choose something you want to get good at and keep improving. Eventually you will become valuable and in demand.

Example: people say "there is no work" and I know for a fact there are 80,000 open programming jobs in the US.

There is plenty of work everywhere. There are no skilled people to do the work.

There is not a job shortage, there is a talent shortage.

Become skilled. Skill is not magic or luck. Its something you gain through learning, practice and experience.

Once I put an ad in Craiglist for a marketing assistant. I got hundreds of resumes.

10 had any real skill and experience. 2 of them were actually any good. Those 2 already had another job or I could not afford them.

Even the top rated writers on Fiverr are pretty bad. I've hired them all. Good writers don't charge $5 per article. They charge $75.

So just get good. You can do it as well as anyone can.

Thank you all for the recent notes of advice and encouragements. They mean a lot to me. Also ... I'm not a single mother of two -- I've been with my husband for 11 years.

I've moved onto enrolling into a local community college to get a pre-med degree . I am also taking courses to be in real estate because I'll be able to get a job pretty quickly after passing.

I still actively write books on fiverr so I can't stop writing.

I have this book that will come out next month ... Loving Grace - Kindle edition by Chimica Robinson- Espinosa. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.
I'm sure I won't get more than two sales lol.

And another one called The Very Happy Giant that might come out later.. I've yet to find or afford an artist for that one. But it's written and has an adorable cover. And then another one that is for Halloween.

I have 25 other books on kindle that suck and make about $30 a month combined. << lol so pathetic!

I already teach people how to write and publish books. My students have the funds to promote their writing and I don't. Many are very successful and making $2k commissions each month. I'm very proud of them.

In 2013 I did that and thought my success had finally happen... nope it hadn't instead I had rude JV's and money that would go up and down. I'm a good motivator to other people but not myself. So everything many of you mentioned : I've done and it didn't work.

There were moments when I told myself I'm doing good -- making $1000 a month working from home while having two children was great! But over the last three months I haven't even made that much combined which is such crap!

Since starting these real estate classes my depression has lessened by a lot. I don't feel like I'm "stuck" begging for money or hating every second I write. Instead ... I fill fiverr orders, study and take notes most of the day and do family stuff.

I don't feel like I'm digging a hole and never going to reach gold.

I know that internet marketing will be useful once I have a job in real estate because marketing is required of course and I'll use it for my charity as well but for now it's just a hobby.. which is awesome!

I thought I had my breakthrough... until I was in a homeless shelter and told I wasn't doing anything that was consistent. It was a walk up call. I though fiverr would be the route to that and sadly, I feel that I'm selling myself so short there and making pennies for it ... if I could change the gig I would! LOL.. but I can't because of the 30 plus orders in query.

Now I'm a student working on getting a real estate licence and a degree in medicine and a writer. Honestly... I couldn't be more relieved to not beg for money and to be working towards a living that will actually support my family .

I can't thank you all enough for your uplifting postings and advice.. it really does mean a ton to me.

    THANK YOU!

Maybe this field just isn't for you. Maybe you're supposed to do other things.

    Who knows?
