Is Money the most important thing in life?

What are your thoughts with this from Robert Kiyosaki?

People say, "Money is not the most important thing in life."

Which is true?

However, money does affect many things that are important to a full, happy life.

My poor dad often said, "Money isn't important to me. Money isn't the most important thing in life."

My rich dad would say, "Money is not the most important thing in life, but it does affect everything that is important.

People with money can afford to eat better food, live in safer neighborhoods, go to better schools.

So while it is true that money is not the most important thing in life, money does affect everything that is important to life.

I have found money is not the most important thing, but it does allow you the ability to do things that are important to you. Whether it is family, spiritual, recreation, or physical fitness, money helps you in all areas of your life.

The trouble with english is that it's inherently a material language. (Steming from a long stroy of empirical thinking. Mill, Loke, Smith, etc.)

The language forces you to not allow yourself saying: Matter doesn't matter.

Damn posting rules. This is the problem with automatisation, it doesn't differentiate qualitatively.
Not to much of a dissimilar vie from this topic's question.

    Let me differ a bit.
There are people who spend time writing articles and reviews in order to market their products

while other build up their mailing list. at the end of the day, those that have mailing lists earn higher revenue than those who try to be prudent in advertising.

IS IT THE END THAT MATTER OR THE MEANS.
So while it is true that money is not the most important thing in life, money does affect everything that is important to life.

Money brings freedom, which means we have the time to focus on more important things. Though money can't ultimately bring happiness, lack of it can bring struggle and pain... the aim is to have enough to feel free to explore the world and our minds, while being content with what we have so not to get trapped again by a cycle of wanting more...

Great points. Good reminders. I've been thinking about benefit corporations as a business structure. They allow a fusion of profit and social benefits created through business. (=

Money is certainly one of the important things in life if not "the" most important thing. How you earn money is also important as well. In fact it is more important than money itself because in the process of working on the how, we can either end up being a better person or someone who we may not want to be.

Though money's not really necessary to be happy. But let's admit it. All the things that makes us happy like recreation, food, transportation, health etc specially when it's for our family or friends, really requires a Money. And it's really painful when we can't afford it.

Money is crucial as it gives us choice.

However, it's not the most important thing. I believe that all the things that came to us free are the most important. Like our body, mind, time.. Use these things wisely.

    Cheers,

It's definitely up there, along with social, mental, physical and emotional well-being. However, it does allow us to purchase stuff to enhance our well-being, thus complementing them.

Like food, air or water, we just need money to survive. It's equivalent of value exchangeable for many things we need. So if we don't need money it means we don't need any things as well.

Can you live naked, hungry and homeless in a modern city? If you can, then money is not important for you.

The post, in itself, seems quite vague to me.

It's like asking why the world thinks Justin Bieber is important

Or, (in a serious way), why clean water is important to the Africans and all parts of the world?

Money isn't THE most important thing in life, but it does rate up there with oxygen.

Seriously, money is a necessity because you need it to buy things. But it can be bad at times too.

I personally hate my attachment to money, my yearning for it, my obsession with. I think money can be a healthy thing- a good thing. But you need balance. You need a point where you decide that there are OTHER important things as well. Money cannot buy happiness. But hard work, determination, a good work ethic, customer service, a sense of self-pride, all of those things can. And those things also earn you money. Money can be your motivator to contentment. But riches themselves cannot bring you happiness. The attitude of success behind them can.

there are several types of happiness that money can buy ..there is a zone from 75 to about 100k in the Usa depending on where you live ..where money does positively effect how happy you are ..and below that there is a noticeable drop in happiness for most people who are at least second generation US citizens .

that line can be much lower in many parts of the world ....most people in the world we live in die from illnesses as a result of drinking contaminated drining water ..and many woman die from respiratory conditions as a result of a lifetime cooking over smoky cooking fires .

so there are many thing money can buy that contribute to being happy..or prevent stresses caused by lack of money ..

if you do not know how to deal with the false beliefs that cause you missery ..no amount of money will buy lasting happiness ..

but once a person identifies ..or creates a state of lasting happiness ..and learns how to fight of the piles of shoulds and guilt the world wants to crap all over you ..there are plenty of places that money can be used to increase the level of excitment in ones life.. and real happiness..is a by product of excitement ..how man Habby but boring Marriages ..get destroyed by either partner chasing an exciting affair .

i am not meaning to argue with you..but this is said so much ..

money may not buy happiness...do you know how many people commit suicide when they face losing all their money or running out ..

The most important thing in life is to be happy.

Most of us needs some money to be happy. A saint may be happy without money or with very little, but most of us are not saints... yet.

We have desires, desires give birth to goals, and in order to achieve these goals we need money. Saints on their side also have their desires, but their desires are different from ours, not so mundane, so they can dwell on very little money.

So we can be happy without money ... but we can't be happy without achieving our goals; and usually we need money to achieve them.

But money itself cant' give happiness, it is only the tool.

The most important thing in life is life itself.

Because after you're dead you don't care about much.

Other than that the most important thing in life is your attitude.

Some would say it's love, happiness, family or even money. But it's not. It's your attitude.

          WHY? Well, that's simple.

If you have family you can't stand, then they are not all that important. If you have money but you're famous and can't go outside without being beset with cameras or you're in the prison of fear over losing your money then money is no longer the most important thing.

When you're lying on your death bed surrounded by jewels and family members waiting for your last breath so they can carve up the inheritance then none of that is important. All you want is one more breath, and one more breath, and one more breath.

But, then again attitude trumps the last breath in a way as well. Because if your attitude towards death is correct and you don't fear it, then it's once again attitude.

Money magnifies the person you are and allows you to create experiences for yourself. So if you're a person who is compassionate and generous you will most likely use it for causes that can better your life and the life of those around you. Perhaps you will set up foundations backing causes you care about.

It isn't important over family, friendships and community however it allows you to help your family, friends and community. What would you do if you had unlimited finances?

studies show that up until about $50k a year money increases happiness, but afterwards, it plateaus. so money is important until $50k, afterwards, not really, at least not for happiness.

Money can help you with the important things in life.
Like health for example, you can eat healthier, you can work less and be more healthy, you have free time to go to the gym and be healthy.
Or relationships, taking your lady to a nice restaurant and do other exciting things that keeps the spark alive, rather than just stay in home or work all day because you don't have the money to go out.

This is such a popular question and one that gets you to think.

My thoughts on it have greatly been influenced by a book I read as a PDF form and currently re reading the book version of it since I enjoyed the concepts and principles so much. The book is "The Millionaire Faslane By DJ Demarco"

In one of the sections he puts this quote, "Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.- Henry David Thoreu" Such a simple yet powerful quote that illustrate the true essence of wealth. There is no doubt that money plays a factor in us reaching our goals, dreams etc but it is not the most important thing.

I love the concept of the 3 Fs which are Family(relationships) Fitness(health) and Freedom(choice) as he focuses on stating the importance these 3 things and the crucial role they play in having a happy life.

I can give you all the money in the world but if you don't have financial discipline and intelligence you will waste it away. You can have all the money but if you neglect Family and Fitness you will be very unhappy even though you will have Freedom due to having enough money. That book is a must read by the way!
