hello ,

back tn to 15 years ago i read about 500 books over 5 years .. but it was just tossing it in my head because i had been so under educated through my school years . i probably read part of a thousand other books .. and then about five years ago shifted to watching you tube video on many different subjects ..

then in the last few years i have developed a lit of things i want to learn more about..and even without search actively having my antenna up i am constanly running into new information that fills in the gaps..

but for skill building it is more about doing stuff it is not criticle do do perfectly ..and there is a path that allows one to start badly and gradually or rapible improve ..i learn skills better by doing .. but i like to know how what i am doing fits into the whole .

personally i need to do things that have wiggle room and don't require perfection ..or diong the same things over and over ..

do you know how you best learn

  • Well, try to think of your way of getting knowledge... actually cross that, think of a dictionary. It's words are not things set in stone, there are people who have written them, consutling each other and constructing a system they agree upon.
Precisely this is systematic knowledge. The one which is ordinarily required in school and colleges. You don't have to finish anything. Actually, finishing for something makes you shallow, beacuse it emans you've been thinking for one thing 3 years straight.
So, that epsitemological situation you describe is no different than the slice of life we all share. Knowledge works like that.

So, rather than talk about my way of learning, I've studied knowledge itself. It's limits to synthetic apriori judgemnts, it's temproal and historical limitations, and a sense of ambiguity regarding most issues.
That term "pragmatism" that gets used a lot lately, that terms means turh is a matter of opinion, it means that I can think of you as a glass of water if I so wish. And that would be Truth.

Understand now why it has little to do with how much you prepare yourself. There is but one thing to be known, the impossibility of knowledge.

My first preference is written words (reading.) Next is audio and my last choice is video.

I discovered my brain works visually. For myself and millions of others, learning through video tutorials is what my mind was longing for! I am a visual learner and therefore, videos that teach anything are my #1 go to.

This is why School of Interactive Design came to be. Learn on your own time through video tutorials.

Hate to break it, but the brain doesn't work oen way. And video tutorials aren't visual just because they've been filmed. A lot of video tutorials are "monkey see-monkey do" / pantomimic learning. Which is what people use for chimps. I seriously don't mean to insult you.
The ones wich aren't pantomimic are developed as an interview, meaning that it's not inherently any different than talking in person, bar the repeatability factor.

And some are digramic drawings. But the problem with that is that it is good to grant one a sense of scale, importance, casuality etc. In other words, a diagram is teaching you how to rank and match information. Things which are internal to your mind.
This means that that's not visual in all but the means to get to you. Same as calling an interview visual. People should develope that sense of where the parts fit to the whole of a topic by themselves.

I know I have learned when I can perform well under pressure.

When I can count on it.

  • Sum up the key points as an analogy and tell a buddy.

If they say, "hey, I get it," then you learn twice.
