Hey Warriors,

I wonder what the one thing is that gets in your way of achieving success?

Lack of knowledge, as with many newbies I suppose. The basis to the reason of my existence in this forum, to learn from the best and overcome my limitations.

Since I'm still a newbie I guess the thing that stops me the most is that i simply don't have enough patience.

I just started out with SEO for example and I'm still far away from the Frontpage of google, that makes me mad...

However, I guess i have just seen too many salesletters telling me that i will earn 1000$/day within a few days, so I guess it kinda comes from having my brain penetrated with those empty promises

So I just end up putting things off "until I'm better prepared", or "until I do something else".

And yes, I know that there is loads of free advice to be found on methods to improve focus, and yes I know that it is better to take action and bomb than not do anything at all.

It is like standing on the edge of the edge of the high diving board. It's terrifying but I know that after I've take the plunge once then it will be far easier the next time, (providing that I don't break my neck!)

People discover their Desire's, Reasons, Enthusiasm, Actions, and how to Manifest them! That's only the Dream part! The Bar & Cafe are even better!

The two main things that get in the way of achieving success, is fear and impatience.

I'm sure that everyone can relate to a situation where they may have walked away from an opportunity because they were either too scared of failure, or felt that it was taking too long for any positive results to come back.

Sometimes people tend to expect amazing results yesterday!

From personal experience, I've gone through that cycle many times over from which I became one of those 'jumpers' that would jump from opportunity to opportunity in search of the next 'big' thing.

Thankfully, I've now learned to commit more focus onto a project and exercise as much effort into it before determining as to whether or not I continue working on it.

I think the one thing that gets in front of success to most of us is the fear of failure or i would quote it as the word "NO". Most of the times whenever someone wants to do something good and speaks up with another person he gets a answer as NO which starts working in the mind and the individual gives up. If we could treat that NO as next opportunity one can achieve success at will . Thanks

Overthinking, which adversely affects my ability to just take action. In the last week though, I feel I've really made some progress with this Also, I sometimes don't react as well as I should when I encounter disappointment - for example if I spend time on something, feel it's really good and it doesn't bring the results I hoped for it really affects my level of motivation and optimism. Again though, this is something I'm working to improve

Well said!! I like your style and often this is what it takes.
Fall down then you get back up and keep on going.

My problem is working in a niche that is very competitive and demanding.
But I knew this before I ever started and specifically chose the niche for it's challenges.....PHEW!!!....I did bite off a lot to chew but I am making daily progress and know it will pay off eventually.
I even had an hour conversation with Real Media today. So that was pretty exciting.

Just so much to do for one person plus running the retail end also gets a bit draining.

So I guess I get overwhelmed at times and come here or other forums and try and help people in order to break the monotony

Hmmmm.........perhaps I am burnt out...

I guess I am going to have to break down and hire an assistant some day...

For me it's information overload, overprocessing that information (analysis paralysis), lack of focus, and fear of letting go. I also have a hard time building up a network of people because I am such an introvert and am comfortable in my own world. But that doesn't help me in the long run does it?

LOL Sam, I struggle with *over-analyzation* ("overprocessing") as well, to the point that I don't ever get anything accomplished...

I've also tried to be a "jack-of-all-trades", in regards to the "lack of focus", which usually doesn't work most of the time, initially. We both need to *focus* and MASTER *one* thing, initially, so that we can move on to other things...

For me, it's definitely laziness and what you'd call entrepreneurial ADHD.

I often find myself not taking action. And when I do, I switch from one project to another, just like a child goes from playing with one particular toy to the next one in a few minutes.

This is a relevant blog post:

Website visitors Free: The important first step to getting free website visitors.

Let's imagine the hype for a second... $50,000 your first month with no experience. The best (we should say it better--the most believable) lies have a hint of truth. I can't believe people delude themselves and actually believe that phrase.

I'm sorry I have to tell you this, but that doesn't happen. People that make that kind of money not only work their tails off, but they also have some great marketing knowledge.

One of the most important parts of marketing is research. Let's break it down as quickly as possible.

For those that are looking for what already sells well

    Step 1
Put yourself in the mind of the general public. Have you heard of anything selling really well lately?
What are the major problems and what results are people willing to pay for? Obviously there are economic problems but that's getting into needs, which are logical. People buy on emotion and then justify their purchase with logic later, remember? Then again, if the economic problems are so big, so as to cause emotion, then people might buy. But by that time, it may be too late and they no longer have the money to purchase. That's why check cashing places as well as paycheck loan businesses are doing so well. BUT are they really helping people out of the recession?
For information products, we suggest you look at Clickbank and search the marketplace and see what's selling well.
For tangibles, go to EBay and Amazon.com and check out what's selling well and what's getting great reviews. Don't look at anything unless it sells well ONLINE. We're talking about free traffic generation. The purpose of market research is to get your ideal product and a way to get it purchased and shipped in the easiest way possible. If you don't have a good product, you won't get much traffic.
    Step 2.
The second most important aspect of the market research is to get your keyword research correct. More detail on this in the next section
    Step 3.
Should go the same as those that have a product already.
Now that you know the wants (not necessarily the NEEDS) of your prospects, it's time to put your findings into your marketing techniques.
Let's say you find a niche market, electrical generators. This is a buying target market. People don't usually jump on Google and type in "Electrical Generator" just to casually learn about them. They are looking for the best type to fit their needs and break out their credit cards.
Now you know what part of the country people are buying them, how much they're willing to spend, how often they buy them, etc.
Write your headlines to catch the eye of those looking for your particular benefits. "How a generator can literally save your family in the event of a hurricane!" Gather info on how to solve their problems and write your information articles (which will be the basis of your exposure techniques.) More on this in further chapters...
Proctor & Gamble spend $500 Million dollars every year researching product opportunities...
Please remember that you should be spending 80% of your production time doing market and keyword research. One huge benefit of this is the fact that while you're doing your research you have a great side benefit...you're becoming the expert you need to be to provide great content and add value to the world of online info. This, in turn, will give you the needed credibility to earn the trust of your prospects. If you'll remember, this takes care of the 3rd factor of why people won't buy what you're selling.

The inability to decide on a project and take consistent focused action. There is so much information on making money online it is bewildering. I literally have 100's of ebooks that I have bought or downloaded as a freebie. And every ebook or course I buy I try to start implementing it and I run into a brick wall. I find I can't seem to do what the directions say, I have trouble deciding on a product to promote, then I find it impossible to come up with content to put on my website. I have no clue how to write about things I know nothing about, even after I research them. Then I can't motivate myself to work on a project I decided to do and I eventually give up and browse the warrior forum more until I find something else to buy.

I think it comes down to lack of passion and skills. I don't have any copywriting or sales skills. And I can't find a niche or business model that I am passionate enought to work consistently on.

Does this internet marketing thing require a certain personality or skill set that I just don't have?

I can pretty much relate to all of your replies. For me it's the fact that I'm constantly learning new methods new stuff, there is so much information and advice out there that it's hard to decide what's right for you. And I have trouble taking consistent action, too. They all say the key is to take action.. but I believe in reality the key is to take CONSISTENT action. I've had taken action and every time I did something good happened. I either learned how not to make money online or I made a little bit of money.. So you just have to not give up.

I started a blog to help me get more accountable about my progress and report what I am doing daily to succeed online. I just started a 30 day challenge today to create a website that makes $1000 per month with CPA offers and SEO. You can read more about it on my blog if you like.. Hopefully, blogging about it will keep me motivated to take consistent action on my project. Thanks

      Hi,
the only reason people can stop you, is that YOU let them.

Hmm, why don't you read these 2 book
"What to say when you talk to yourself" by Shad Helmstetter , it taught me a lot how to keep my opinion and perspective strong.
"How to have confidence and power in dealing with people" by Les Giblin, it taught me to deal with people, meaning how to attract them as friend, and how to keep them as friend.

They are not thick books, relatively small, however don't just read them, do practice what they say, you find out for yourself how you let people stop you, and how to stop yourself from letting those thing happen (if that makes sense )

I hope that helps a little bit

Bart, Thanks for posing this question.

As I am sitting here reading posts and answering posts, I am actually using it as an excuse not to do what I should be doing for my marketing. When things get tough I find any excuse to do things that can honestly wait!

I am scared of failure, do not manage my time well enough and DO NOT have enough confidence in myself.

I would love to make a video but have not even started as I feel I am not good enough to do it. BUT, with all the advice i have read in the replies to your post, I am now going to log off and ask myself the question "What is the one thing stopping you"? I will answer myself honestly and take it from there.

You see Bart, your one simple question has helped me and I am sure many others. Food for thought!

    Good question.

Have asked myself that question all the time...found the answer(partly)

The belief that I can do more than what I think I can....

So I decided to have a learner's attitude...learn everyday and more important...practice to do what I have learnt.

As they say "Knowledge is only potential power". You need to apply them.

So now I learn to move forward everyday...learn and practice esp in IM.

    Keep the faith!

It used to be my own subconscious beliefs, but now that I've eliminated that obstacle, there is nothing standing in my way!

    Cheers,

The thing that stop me in the past was myself. I attended lots of training and I knew different ways to accomplish what I needed to get done, but I didn't take action.

If you let it, procrastination can be the killer of your dreams.

One of the most important things for people to do is to work on their personal development.

      Hey Lakisha,

I agree, Personal Development, no matter where you are in life, should be on your top priority list.
