Consistency vs Brilliance which one is better?

If you want to improve any area of your life whether it be financially, physically, spiritually or mentally, there are two key aspects which will manifest your goals.

Consistency and Brilliance

But which one is better?

Compare two internet marketers , Rich Shefren and Ray Higdon.

Both of them are considered to be some of the best internet marketers today.

Rich Shefren excels in writing amazing kick ass reports for 3 months and then earns on average $2000000 for each report he writes in a 3 month period.

He is an example of someone who excels in brilliance, and his brilliance has payed him very handsomely.

Ray Higdon however excels in the field of writing blogs. He writes blog posts every day without missing a single day.

He excels in the area of consistency. And his stats speak for himself.

Let's look at world of Basketball.

Person A and person B are both trying to get into the NBA.
Person A excels in brilliance because he trains 5 hours 3 days a week practicing his shots, drills, dribbling and diet.

Because of this he is brilliant at what he does, because he trains intensively but very sporadically.

Person B excels in consistency because he gets up every morning, every day without skipping any practicing for only 1 hour. He trains less intensively and for shorter periods of time, but he is consistent!

Who is more likely to get drafted?

Based on numerous examples in history, you will find that person B will be more likely to get in Why?

Consistency beats Brilliance

So what is the moral of this story?

We can all have the skills the talent and the knowledge but if we are not taking action, and doing the things we need to do each and every day to grow our internet business then we are likely to fall victim to failure and frustration.

However if we do the things we need to do to grow our internet business each and every day, and we keep on soaking knowledge for as long as it takes it would be very difficult to fail. T

his doesn't only apply to our internet business but it applies to each and every area of ou lives we want to improve.

At the end of the day we should take action each and every day to grow ou onlne business whether it is getting traffic to our website, building backlinks, sending emails to our list, writing articles, or just getting our content out there.

The more content you release the more likely people are to find your content, and you get established as an authority in the online world!

What do you think?, Is consistency better than brilliance or is brilliance better than conistency?

    Great post, Dave

From personal experience, I've learned first hand that CONSISTENCY BUILDS BRILLIANCE

Put it this way, consistently stepping up to the plate, taking a swing and learning from your previous swings, INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD of a HOMERUN

The key is not to get impatient.

  • I would normally suggest B, (consistency) however it appears that a large chunk of people in here have become brilliant at consistently doing the wrong things. (A.K.A. Spinning wheels) thus not moving ahead.

Therefore obtaining some brilliance first, would be my recommendation for most folks in here.

I give preference to both of it persistence and brilliance. Actually for success both are important. If you do something special then needed brilliant work but you need to keep those for success so without consistency isn't possible. Therefore I think both have great value.

    Consistency takes the cake.

I was one who would come up with "brilliant" concepts and test them out, and it only produced small results. Little did i know, if i had only stuck with 1 "brilliant" idea, i would have been out of the rat race game MUCH sooner. I have to go with consistency. And good analogy with the basketball example.

For me, it's consistency If you're consistent enough you will become brilliant in no time.

Practice make's you a better and if you start moving forward towards your goal, no matter how slow you are, eventually you'll get there.

insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
There goes consistency. It's just a variable. That alone means nothing.

I choose brilliance over consistency any time of the day.

btw: I am far from brilliant.

      It's consistency.

I've had tiny spurts of brilliance over the years, but it's the daily grind of keeping up and maintaining the original idea - the consistency - that's been key for my business.

Sure, it took the brilliant ideas to get started in the first place, but without consistent effort applied, that brilliant idea would have just stayed as that: an idea.

    Yes consistency pays dividends.

It is better to do a little everyday than to do a lot every now and then.

    Great answers!

Consistency is what allows for moments of brilliance. Or, in other words, brilliance is what allows a good performer like Lady Gaga go from successful to brilliant. This is the introduction into what is often referred to as being wowed.

Now, if Katy Perry were to become as comfortable and connecting as Taylor Swift she would give her a run for her money. If Perry were to embrace her quirky, fun, pop style she could blow the roof off the industry. It is the only thing she is missing - wow.

    Be all in.

    Notice the difference.

    Consistency always pays off.

You will get better at what you do with consistency.

Remember though... you must be doing the right things consistently to get the right results.
