AMY = Always Motivate Yourself : How AMY keeps me inspired as an Internet Marketer

Dear Warriors,

This post will be in parts, adding in some nuggets as and when there is time to do so in between projects. Hope you will follow and like it

It has been almost 2 decades in both the IM field and I am grateful to fellow warriors who have grown with me together through these years worldwide with the mutual respect given to each other. Some whom we know each other and many with just our minds meeting. From the IBM green screen monitors, Floppy Disks, BBS, MIRC (Ah those were the days!) to today's ultra uprising in Amazon, Uber and SEO monsters.... what a journey! This can only get more and more exciting!

My work is in both the online and offline world, it has come to a stage where if someone new in IM tells me or someone over my shoulder that the online world is much easier than the offline world, I might just give a slight grin with a hint of smile. "Welcome to our World. It will be a fruitful journey if you hassle long enough in this field."

It's a fairly different game in both worlds but this is slowly closing in.

In my experience, the main differences in working in the online and offline world somehow keep circling around these 3.

ONLINE VS OFFLINE WORLD OF WORK

ONE : Preparation and Travel Time

ONLINE:
Travel when needed to but pretty seldom. No loss of 2 to 3 hours of time preparing and travelling to and fro from work.

OFFLINE:

You need to travel to work which takes up a chunk of time and energy. Energy to wake up on time, bath, brush teeth, comb hair, prepare for work and the mad rush thereafter, so you don't miss the public transport which sets off at a certain time everyday. Most people will choose the latest possible time slot to reach the office in time. If work starts at 9am and the latest possible bus / train timing to not be late is 8.30am, that's the slot to take, seldom the 8.15am.

If you have your own transport, lucky, we get to sleep a little bit longer in our beds and then the mad rush again to avoid the traffic jam, just nice enough to reach at 9am.

TWO : Comfortable and a tad messy VS Professional Suave Looking OR Beautiful !

ONLINE:
Work wearing home clothes with messy hair. Main priority is working hard and fast to finish project after project as each project is income generated. Always looking for ways to cut down waste of time and be as efficient as possible.

One of the best part, being able to bath anytime and cook up instant noodles for lunch or order Mac or Fried chicken delivery. Being able to take a 15 minute power nap to recharge.

OFFLINE:
Work wearing good looking clothes feeling like a million bucks, different set of neatly ironed clothes and test out your fashion sense daily. Comb hair neatly in a style that spells suave.

Lots of people to talk to and lots of meetings. Regular paycheck, usually predictable work and occasional off the job scope tasks. Depending of choice of work and working environment, the level of stress varies. Work is done, yes. But a great chunk of time could be taken up by meetings and causal talk if we are not careful.

The main challenge of working in a place where there are many people around? Distractions caused by Interruption..

There are some tasks which may take an hour to complete WITH FOCUS but with the constant interruptions and meetings, it could take half a day.

After a heavy lunch, sleepiness might set in and taking a power nap is considered a taboo and sign of laziness in most office cultures. It looks bad when the supervisor hears someone snoring....ooppss!

THREE : Emo and feelings

ONLINE:
It could be lonely working in a room alone with just your computer and you. Signs of depression could set in as boredom sets in.

OFFLINE:
Colleagues who are friends and some who are enemies, makes life pretty interesting too with the work that brings results celebrated as a team and group of gossips here and there as topics. Who and who seems to be together, who and who seems to be fighting... lunch time buddies, leave office together buddies...the interesting stuff.

Life is pretty interesting, not so boring.

It's during this time when a few of my acronyms I have created to motivate myself in such times come to use.

One of the acronyms I find myself using most often is AMY.

AMY = Always Motivate Yourself

Success through determination #1 - Alexander SkyHeart

"NO" IS NOT AN ANSWER

Dear Readers,

Every day, every single day without failure, my plans for the day either gets interrupted, distracted and some of them led to failure. Although the survivors get celebrated as victories, there's a catch... few of them come easy, even those that I thought were easy like chicken feed has some sort of obstacle to overcome or some barrier I had to overcome myself to doing.

But no matter how hard, if the results are worth it, I go through it like a bull gone insane and keep banging head on, sideways or back alley to break through the obstacle to achieve the desired results through sheer determination. If I had doubt that the first time I tried had some flaws in its execution, I try it again, review and try again until I am convinced that it is wrong.

This tactic of success through determination came to be paramount in many areas in my work and life. Hang on my friend, he who hassles may win it eventually, ask better questions and get better answers.

"No" is not an answer, it asks "Continue?" when it's game over. Choose Yes.

Sincerely,
Alexander SkyHeart

Asking The Right Questions #2 - Alexander SkyHeart

TO OPEN UP MINDS, ASK THE RIGHT QUESTION

Dear Readers,

"How do you put a car into a fridge?" Eric asked.
"The one who gets the correct answer wins a thousand bucks."
The crowd goes wild and answer after answer they came, "Smash the car into pieces...is it a toy car...vaporize it ..." and answer after answer was wrong.

Then up came eight year old Amy and when she whispered the answer to Eric's year, his face lit up a smile and announced to the crowd. "Amy won the thousand bucks, let's give her a round of applause!"

The crowd of mainly adults and teenagers clapped reluctantly. Some thought, "She must have cheated." Others had other nasty comments. Few could accept they lost to an eight year old. They were hungry and desperate to know what answer Amy told Eric. The crowd eyed her as she walked down the stage.

When Amy came down the stage, group by group they went up to ask her what answer she gave. Group by group laughed and accepted her victory. "Well done." What answer did she give? "Open the fridge door and put the car in."

ARE WE WHO WE REALLY THINK? #3 - Alexander SkyHeart

THE ANSWER REVEALS WHEN WE SLEEP

DEAR READERS,

One of the best phenomenon in life which I could never understand how it happens occurs sometimes when we sleep. Dreams. It is a beautiful thing as it is the only time of the day where I could not control what happens and I can never know what is going to happen. Many times, it is completely irrational and many times, absolutely strange. Ever dream of just lifting your feet, tip toe and off we go, flying into the air like Peter Pan. Yes, you get the drift.

Ouch is when we wake up and find that it was all a dream and we have trouble remembering it a few minutes later as if it never happened. Some people developed a habit of putting pen and paper by their bedside so that when they wake up from a dream, they write it down immediately before they forget it.

They analyze their dream journal at times and figure out what is it, some say that dreams are our sub conscious mind revealing to us our deepest desire, fears and feelings... sometimes the answers we find surprise us even... What we want in life when we are awake may be just what we think we want, what we dream of could reveal our truest thoughts. Have you tried if it is more accurate?

Sincerely,
Alexander SkyHeart

THE MEANING OF LIFE #4

THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS PURPOSE

DEAR READERS,

One of the greatest questions in life is asking ourselves, "What is the meaning of life?" Since the beginning of question and understanding, this question has always been a joy to answer and doubtful to be sure of our own answers. Perhaps one of the best replies one can give is with Socrates.

"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing" Socrates.

A truly convenient answer indeed, isn't it? But we want more, there must be more to life than finding out in the end we know nothing! I imagine some might say that the meaning of life is to find meaning in it, is to love and be love, is to make the world a better place and to the romantics, to give our love ones the best life possible without worries and to the family orientated, to give the best future for our children... and to the ambitious, to be the best we can be and to become the best in ______ fill in the blanks and do ______ fill in the blanks.

I imagine the meaning of life is purpose, why to live it, it differs from person to person. What is your purpose? Perhaps to prevent human extinction?

SINCERELY,
Alexander SkyHeart

Awesome post. I find #1 a huge blessing to not have to commute and just get to work. Sometimes though I find it tough to start working.
And #3, this is the toughest for me, going so long without too much social interaction is a bit too much sometimes. I've joined IRC again, and just go in some offtopic related chat rooms to say something stupid. I find I hate talking about work, I'd rather STFU and just work.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thank you eddy! Appreciate you reply

#1 is a great blessing indeed, shaves off so much time.
#3 has its pros and cons that it becomes a lifestyle

IRC still rocks, lol, yes STFU style rocks as well
