We should do right thing first of all.The products, service that we offer should be of good quality so that customers can like it and recommend to others on their own.

Planning is very important on how to do the business.

Knowledge about the competitors strategies will be good too.

There a lot of factors other than these.

But make the customers happy always.

This might sound boring but it's so true:

Do your research then work harder than the opposition.

Hard work usually beats all else, pity that nobody wants to hear that, but I like it, because it gives me a definite avenue to success.

If I work hard - I WILL succeed

If you can't be best, be first. If you can't be first, be best.

Help others get what they want first. Give away your own knowledge and experiences before you trying selling things. The money will come. Take action, even if it needs to be changed later. Out hustle your competition by doing. Always be yourself. Don't do something in your business that doesn't feel right or that feels sleezy.

Study your competitor, Research, Analyze and then attack. Always be on guard on what's hot and what's not. Always on your toes.

Always work harder than your competition, but never be obsessed over their existence. If you do that you may lose sight of yourself and your own ideas.

But this only rings true for some niches. Sometimes in order to keep with the trend you do need to focus on what your competition is doing and what customers are buying. I think you need to make an assessment if your competition is important enough to watch or a waste of your time paying attention to.

I would look at this differently...

See what everyone else is doing and then find
a way to do it differently.

Don't try to beat someone - be different.
Don't try to copy someone - be different.

    The key is: Be creative!

    When we are, we're unbeatable.

To be able to beat a competition is for you to have the big determination and will to got the goal of winning it. Just do your very best to the limit but don't go beyond humility for others, in short be fair enough to win it.

PS: Second place is the first "loser"...!

From personal life experience, I believe that we beat ourselves out of what is meant for us. If you have time, I would recommend getting the book, "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles

This book really opened my eyes to understand that if I want something to happen, I have to go get it. It really balls down to personal development and knowing the tools and insights that the people who are being successful link to and execute. It doesn't matter where you are if you have a passion for what you are doing. A lot of people follow a bandwagon and expect to receive the same results. Until you find what drives you to execute, then you are missing your own fortunes.

If you truly have a passion for what you are doing then there is no one who can knock the wind out of your sail or make you feel as if you are too late because there is no such thing as being too late. Many have come before us and many will come after us, but it is up to us as individuals to make our place known and set the example for those who want to be us and hope to be successful in their passion. Remember, you never know who the fly on the wall is, you inspire.

Belief in what you represent, will bring all the passion and desire and drive to grow and be the leader in this industry. I personally practice what I'm saying here and have accomplished great things in my life and expect to do even more. You can do the same if you find your "passion".

    Cheers!

Thank you for such hypothetical question! In any kind of human endeavor, competition always exceed but to beat competitors you must prove of your self that you are unique individual no matter what!

Do not focus on your competition, but on your own business.

You do not lose out due to competition, but due to the fact that you're focus is on the wrong things.

What can you improve, on a daily basis. What habits can you install that are gonna make your work easier.

Start thinking creatively about each step of your business

This is not about working harder then you're competition, but (and I know it sounds pathetic) work 'smarter'

One thing that helps me to do this is Mark Joyner's Word Of Mouth course.

Which focuses weekly on improving one distinct part of your business

Your Message, Your Product, Your Customer, and Referrals

    Have fun

Create brilliant content, keep doing it, update it, build links, build partnerships, practise good SEO. There's never a definitieve answer to "beating" a competitor, but all the above are sure to help.

Lose the competitve mindset and focus on yourself and what YOU want.

Only you allow someone else to take what you want out of your reach.

Creativity allows you to focus on yourself and your unique vision and ideas,
that's why it works despite what appears to be a crowded place.

there's more than enough for all. You really really have to believe that to
    live it.

The very mindset of beating the competition does not come from abundance. You will find that in many cases, what you at first may believe to be your competition are actually potential partners.

To add to that. One of the things that I teach is to discover gaps in a market and in the sales funnel or business model of the top players in the market that you choose to enter.
These could be gaps in information, gaps in value, gaps in service levels, etc.

For example, a competitor might have only high-end products. This would be an opportunity to compliment their offering with a lower pricepoint product and create a win win for both of you.
