I have a feeling I will fail again, should I even try?

Been trying so many times that I am disheartened. This time round, I'm using swipe files on the email, opt in form and using facebook for advertising.

I can't stop but feel that I will fail yet again.... I'm feeling stuck. What now?

You need a therapist, not a business. And I mean that in the kindest way possible. This stuff isn't your answer, at least not right now.

I know it really can be frustrating to fail time after time bud. Keep your head up.Do not let this consume you though. Before trying to dive to deep into something you may not fully understand or be able to afford, I would recommend to start smaller.

How about making a list of all the services you could offer or maybe something your good at that people would offer money for? Can they be offered on fiverr or the warrior forum?

        Hey Mike,
Iam no expert that's why I might take a suggestion by another membr here... and that is if this keeps up and gets
worse( your emotions) you may need to seek professional help.

You sound a little more deep in this than just the average Marketer who has his up and downs.

        Really.

I'm not going to scream Depression or General Anxiety Disorder but a professional could surely determine this.
        Best of luck.

        Hello Mike

I like many of the replies to you, but one in particular by art72, he told you something of his life, challenges an hardships that he had to overcome, like dropping out of school in year 7, drug overdose at 15, losing everything at 35, becoming homeless, but not giving up an eventually being succesful with his IM Business's. A lot of his story resonates with me. I have often shared parts of my story in the hope it might inspire people, I hope it might do the same for you, and I will also give you some advice to help you. My story is a bit longer than art24's, I'm a woman, I talk more! Sorry bout that! lol. But the real reason of course is to show you like art24 did, that you can overcome anything in your life. Whatever you want you can get, whatever you want to be, you can be. Your future is up to you.

I was an only child of church going parents, we actually lived in a home owned by the church, next door to the church. My father was a church official an also preached there, but the love he preached was not echoed in my homelife. I don't remember any love or affection being given to me by my parents. When I was 12 he started to sexually assault me, my mother knew, she told me he was not really hurting me, told me if I told anyone I would be put in a girls home. By 14 it was a daily occurance, it was what I had to look forward to as I walked home from school. By 15 he even involved other men, they paid him to attend the sex show he put on each weekend at someones home. I was the one who had to perform with him an others at those shows.

At 16 I became pregnant to my high school boyfriend, when I refused to have an abortion my parents kicked me out of home (the only nice thing they ever did for me) an even ran me out of town, they didn't want to be shamed in front of their church community. I went to London, was on my own with a baby by time I was 17. It was very hard, I remember eating jus soup for a whole month, the cheapest soup cans of soup I could buy, jus so I could buy things for my baby. I couldn't get a job while looking after a baby, I did cleaning, ironing, baby sitting, etc for neighbours. I sang in a pub, was too young to even be in a pub but the publicans wife used to mind Sherri while I was singing, he would give me a big pub dinner an do a collection for me. His wife would then drive us home with a big bag of goodies she had cooked for me. I so looked forward to that night each week.

I was 21 before I could find a job, life got better then. At 23 I discovered Internet Marketing, I remember I was so excited, I would put Sherri to bed then spend bout 3 hours a night trying to learn. I started trying to sell ebooks on ebay, my first whole year I made US$408, but I never thought of giving up.

Then, I was 24, I met a man in a MSN chat room, he was an Australian, twice my age, BUT he was full time in IM, making up to US$75K a year, a FORTUNE to my way of thinking then. I asked if he would mentor me, he said he didn't have time other than for a couple of chats. After those chats I begged him to mentor me, he said no, but I didn't give up. I hounded an hounded him, he was likely so sick of all my emails an private chat requests he finally said yes, but with conditions, if I stuffed up jus once, that would be the end of his mentoring.

Part of his mentoring was sending me books to read, the first one was over 240 pages an he said I had to read it in a week before he sent me the next one. I thought I would need a month to read it an told him so. He said if you can't do it your wasting my time - of course I read that book in a week. So many times that happened, The first time I had to reproduce a simple website, he had shown me how to make a website via his online conference room, then he bought me a copy of FrontPage an a book bout it. After I installed FrontPage, jus looking at it on my computer, I knew I could not learn how to use it an design that website in a week. He told me I could, an that I had better! An to my surprise by the end of that week I had my website to show him.

I didn't realise back then that he had more confidence in me then I had in myself. He was constantly pushing me uphill so I could roll down the other side. He was telling me I could do anything an be anyone I wanted to be, no matter my lack of education. We became close an I told him bout my life, he started to councel me, told me my past was in my past, it could only effect me if I chose to let it. I started to think of him as being like a Dad I had never had. One night his mentoring was bout the English SAS an their Motto, Who Dares Wins. I took that lesson to heart, I thought bout it an I decided to Dare, I asked him if he would be my Dad an Sherri's GrandDad. He said yes. He took me in as his Daughter an into his Business.

Sorry for that long story Mike, but I'll update you to where we are now. In 12 years we have built one of the worlds largest privately owned IM Business's, over 20 companies online an a few offline ventures. With our IM Business's we have 65 employees, who work 24 hours a day over 3 shifts. Our turnover for 2015 is already over US$14 Million for our IM Business's. We continue to grow our Business's, an start more Business's each year. My Dad an I still work together 16 hours a day during our work week, we don't have to work at all, but it is not like work to us, it is pure fun.

        So to some advice Mike.

Never give up. As soon as you give up you have lost the race. It is all bout mindset, you have to have confidence in yourself, you have to have ambition, an drive. You have to have passion for what you are doing. You have to be willing to put time an effort into things, you have to be willing to take the time to learn an to be continually learning, an you have to be willing to work hard for what you want.

One of the things my Dad told me years ago was that learning IM was no different to any other schooling. You start in IM Kindergarten an as you learn you eventually will graduate IM University. Your income will also reflect your IM education level. Do you really think those at Kindergarten in the real world are making much of an income? Get REAL.

In the real world many people spend years on their education, to give themselves the best chance of a high paying job or position. We have to do the same, but our rewards can be much higher than any professional#s income level. Don't buy into the IM myth that you can make big money fast without much work, so many people seem to think this is true.

You are very unlikely to be able to find someone like I did who will spend their time an personally mentor you. But the Warrior Forum is full of people with some form of experience, many run full time successful IM Business's, so treat them as being mentors of sort. The WF is also a place where you can learn bout the different IM Business models.

So, no use feeling depressed or desperate, neither will get you anywhere at all. Find yourself some sort of job, an hold it, anything to survive while you educate yourself bout IM. Be realistic, your not very likely to be making any amount of money in a few weeks or maybe even within a few months. But if you give up, your not going to be making any at all.

        Cheers

        Lindy

To the OP (Original Poster) : Lindy just gave you some great advice (and an inspiring real life story). Your education and experience level in IM will correspond to how much you earn. The more you learn, the more you earn. Keep learning something new every day, either here on the WF, watching videos on YouTube about IM topics, take a course or 2 on Udemy, etc.

          To Lindy :

Your story is inspiring ! I humbly take my hat off to you for the terrible injustices you endured from the people who should have been protecting you. I am glad you have the success today, which you so much deserve to have !

Thank you for sharing your story, and I wish you the best in life !

Why is it the OP would start a thread like this - where others willingly share their time, personal stories and experience - and then just walk away?

Is this WF Therapy? Or just "venting" or a bid for attention?

The OP started the thread - posted a second time a few minutes later....and nothing else. He's been logged into the forum but no response - no feedback - no thanks to anyone who has posted in HIS thread.

That's just rude when members have laid their own lives out in public in an effort to encourage the OP.

Well I can't speak for everyone, however many times when I respond to threads like this it's not because I know 100% they will appreciate it, it's "Just in case."

There's also the possibility that people in the same situation will find some value in it.

        Mike,

We all have been through such situations at one point or another.

You feel stucked and overwhelmed due to the pressure to get results.

        Two things.

        First:
How long have you been doing this? Do you take what has not worked so far and improve on it? Like I did a bit of FB ad, it gave me $5 clicks when I started. Ouch. I then learned about Lookalike Audience, and it went down to $0.50 a click. So it's all about learning and improving bit by bit.

You expect to succeed, and if you don't, do you give up? You likely will as it did not meet your expectation. But what happen if you expect just a small win? :-) How about something small like an opt-in or 5 clicks depending on how long you have been on it?

I joined a guru's free list building course recently. I didn't expect much cause I had paid $300 earlier to another warrior to do the same but did not get much results. The guru promised a 2000 list in 30 days. I did not expect to get any since it was free but I forced myself to get a free gift up, opt-in etc. - to do and learn along the way. After a week, I ended up with about 10 new signups! I was overjoyed. See, since I didn't expect a single signup, when I got my first few I was thrilled.

Re-set your expectations, and you will win as you learn and improve.

If you did not succeed, it just means you have not learned the "how to succeed" yet. So keep learning, don't be too hard on yourself if you fail. What makes you think you can succeed in the first place anyway if you are just starting and learning?

        Second:

Focus on your audience or market. Not focus on you to make a sale or opt-in. Are you serving or solving a problem that your market is looking for? Put yourself in their shoes, go to your opt-in/website as a user/prospect and see if what you are offering is what "you will buy" to solve the problem or benefit from it ;-)

Business is about the value you can give to your market. Take the time to educate yourself on the needs and problems of the market and you will eventually win. If you give enough value, like take a look at some of the WSOs, it's $1 or $5, for massive value/knowledge. Do they sell? I'm sure you've bought a handful ;-)

Some gurus like Alex Jeffreys gives massive value for his front-end programs esp. And they sell lots!

        Hope this helps!

Yeah, I took exception to the statement that "Anybody, Anywhere can make money online" (if we are talking about enough to buy groceries for the month and pay rent or mortgage).

Very few people are capable of reaching that stage. I can introduce personally at least 12 people who I am POSITIVE would never be able to earn even 5 bucks a day online.

Persistence is one of the things that many people lack. The others lack "brain power" or the natural curiosity or drive to learn the required knowlege.

And in regards to if I "feel Randall" ... No Comment !

Look at everything around you that moves or can be used and then think again would they had said that what you are thinking, yes it is hard and worst part about society today in the MMO niche is that " If I build it they will come mentality".
There is no silver bullet or magic button and you make $$$.

Before we used to think how but now we do search so you have lost you ability to think of an answer, to come on here and winge because it is all too hard suggest you get a job ( just on broke) because MMO will chew up most times and yes you fail

"Failure is merely a way to define your determination!" - Yours Truly

    Definition of; 'determination'...

    1.) firmness of purpose; resoluteness.

2.) the process of establishing something exactly, typically by calculation or research.

Seriously, I've failed at almost everything you can imagine...

School - dropped out 7th grade, overdosed at age 15, blew a full 'paid' scholarship to Ft. Lauderdale Art Institute, Lost $750,000 in assets and belongings by age 35, and that's just the tip of the iceberg!

Put on your big boy panties, and get ready... Life has a way of teaching you 'exactly' what you need to know... in preparation for SUCCESS!!!

Some of us just learn the hard way is all.

Stick it out, test your ads, track your opt-ins, and conversions, and remember; "cultivate your list" - many of your first attempts will only strengthen your long-term results.

If you believe you already 'failed again' - I'm guessing your throwing patties at the wall, just to see if the sh!t will stick?

You get out... What you put in!

Takes time, I failed consecutively for years, and in those failures, I learned 'exactly' what NOT to do... Which in any light, got me to do things right! (like the bloke; Edison, lol)

Tough it out. You'll survive. What's the worse that can happen; "you'll end up homeless?"

Don't give up! Stick with it, just keep tweaking your method until you start seeing results. I for one can say that social media needs a bit of trial and error before you get your marketing strategy right to start turning over results.

In all fairness you are probably correct.

If you are doing what everyone else is doing it'll probably be a struggle then die.

If you have no USP you are doomed to failure

If it can be copied you'll fail.

You are being fed B*S* along the way.

Build a real business that you have a U.S.P./ cannot be easily copied/cloned....focus on that and that alone.

Good luck. In fairness most people are not built to create/run a business. If that's you get a job and enjoy life instead of butting your head against the wall.

    Your anxiety is normal.

What is it you are trying to do? How does this align with your personal strengths?

In other words, why on earth should anyone want to do business with you? If you can answer that honestly and with conviction, then you have a foundation to build on.

If, on the other hand, you are just trying "the formula" with the same crap everyone else is trying to sell, then you are no match for the established players and you will undoubtedly fail.

You don't have to tell us what you are doing and how you are doing it, but I sure hope you understand it and believe in it. If you don't, good luck getting anyone else to.

Jack, in all due respect not so sure. Of course Anxiety is normal and actually healthy in some respects. But when I see words like "desperate" and phrases like "cannot hold a job" it just puts up a red flag to me.

But like I said I'm no expert. I do I think stuff like this should be evaluated by a professional if it continues.

Well, ok. We're not doctors, and we don't know the OP (at least I assume you don't...)

Having said that... there is nothing easy about creating a business from nothing, and anxiety and insecurity are absolutely normal reactions to the ups and downs of the journey.

A few words of desperation from a struggling IM'er are nothing new here. So I'll just say this.

OP, if your anxiety is keeping you from functioning normally as a human being (i.e. affecting your relationships, taking care of your basic needs, fetal position, etc), then you don't need to be working on the business. You need to work on yourself. See a doctor and get help.

If this was just an overly dramatic cry for attention, then step up and get to work fixing the problems in your business model. There are lots of ways to do this. Start by finding people who have been successful doing what you want to do, and learning in great detail how they do it.

        Good luck.

You'll only get stuck if you limit yourself to that activity.

IM isn't all about digital products and emails.

Always try. Keep trying and don't give up. It's either an internet business... or a miserable life with a future boss who will only pay you $9.50/hour.

There is no success without failure. What you do with your failure is what matters. So find out what you are doing wrong and find a way to make it right. Life itself is a test. We fall and we rise back up again. Is what makes us strong.

A swipe file isn't going to make you successful. You already know it's not going to help so do something else.

It's ok to test new things but you need to know when to step away & move on. Social traffic is tough because a lot of times it's window shoppers that don't really care about the niche.

So... in this case it could be as simple as forgetting about Facebook & target a niche forum traffic source, people that are already dedicated to a niche. I have no idea what you're selling but try another traffic source where you help other people where in turn they help you make money.

Sometimes you have to give in order to get.

The best advice which i can give you is
invest some money on ur weakness rather than investing on your failed approach.

Tai lopez said " There was a guy back in mexico who used to earn 0.001 cents by investing $1 dollar. 0.001 was his return on investment but later on he became millionare after doing alot of transactions over and over again. The point is to follow the blueprint."

Tip 1: You need to learn retargeting pixels so you can track where you are going wrong? If someone comes to your site what are they doing? before they press cross sign there is a plugin which make them stay if they see " Hey, before you go here is ______ freebie.
Tip 2: You need to understand how to fool facebook CPC rates by running $5 dollars a day multiple campaigns ( just copy campaigns and run ) you will see which one is costing low CPC rates.
Tip 3: You should give a freebie to attract people to optin and later make them read rest.
Tip 4: Invest in 2 things
    a) Facebook spy which give you information about your competitor successful image posts: Adsviser - Powerful Ads Spy & Market Research
    b) Social Freal
1 PICK YOUR INTERESTS, BEHAVIORS AND DEMOGRAPHICS TO TARGET
STEP 2 COPY THE TARGETS TO THE TARGETER TAB WITH ONE CLICK OF A BUTTON
STEP 3 DRAG AND DROP THE TARGETS, THEN ONE CLICK TO UPDATE THE ADSET SYNCED WITH FB

Everyone goes through failure on the way to success.
This isn't for everyone, you need to decide if you can handle the constant failures and when you find the successful campaigns , run with it.

    Heey Mike!

Just re-read what you wrote here man!

Pay very close attention to your own definitions, and to the way you speak. Especially when you speak about yourself and what you believe in.

I can tell, right away, that you are already setting yourself up for failure. Right off the bat!

Realize, that whatever you believe in, that is what you are going to get and experience.

And what you believe in, is usually what you feel.

If you feel like you are going to "Fail" - guess what, you are most likely going to fail. Because that is what you are believing to your core.

Even if you say otherwise - it is not what you feel or think on the surface, but what you feel and think deep inside of you. On a Sub-Conscious Level.

This is why a lot of successful people online - talk about Self-Development.

    Your Mindset is SOOO IMPORTANT!

Success, in anything, is always 80% Mindset and 20% Hard Work!!

Changes never come from the outside - Changes come from the inside.

If you want to get different outcomes, then make different changes inside of you.

And I'm talking about the Energy you have. Not so much "Doing" things differently.

You can do the exact same things you have been doing, this entire time, with different beliefs and energy inside of you, and get totally different outcomes.

It is not about doing different things, but doing the same things with a different mindset and energy. You get what I mean??

This is so important to understand for success in your life.

Success is just a game of Energy (Vibrations) and Beliefs (Feelings/Emotions).

You have to really, Evaluate yourself.

Do you really believe you can accomplish your goals?

And pay VERY close attention to your answers. Pay very close attention to your language and definitions.

If your answer is something like this; "yess, I do believe I can do this, BUT ..... this and that .... etc" ...

That BUT right there, is a clear sign that you actually do not believe in yourself and that you can do this. Realize that! .. you are just trying to lie to yourself here!

There is nothing wrong with Admitting that you do not feel like you believe in yourself and that you can do this. It is okay to feel like that.

Embrace that feeling. Be honest with yourself. So you can do something about it.

If you are not honest, then you will fall into this Loop. Where you lie to yourself, and say things with a BUT in between.

Be Honest, realize exactly Where you are right now - with your beliefs and energy. And then, you will be able to control it. Because you cannot control what you do not take!! ...right!!

So, take it all in, and then make the necessary changes - from the inside out!

Once you have your mindset right - then you can learn more of the technical stuff, and more of the internet marketing education and the process you need to implement.

I highly recommend you to read self-development books. They will help you tremendously. I mean, I'm sure you have heard this quote; Success starts in the Mind. Why do you think successful people keep saying that?? haha

    Realize it my friend!!

    I hope this helps you!

    Never give up!!

    You can do this!!!

Your mindset is going to set you up for failure my friend.. If you go into thinking you're going to fail, then you ARE going to fail...and yes, you might as well quick now, while you're ahead..

If you can change your mindset and not let your past experiences control you then then you'll be much better off...

Ever read "THINK and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill?

Your mind is way more powerful than most people ever understand. I suggest you read that book, and if you're not going to do that focus on staying positive.

Be thankful for everything you have in your life as well. You may be failing now, but you have that computer your on, internet, I assume you're eating.. So you have food..

That's a great place to start.. Hope it helps.

    Wow..

This is an interesting thread with some good replies. Having read a few of them, I'll add my own experiences here, purely for info and guidance

Earning money online, is not hard, however it does take time, consistency and persistency done on a daily basis. It should be treated like a business, much the same as if you were going for a part time job in your local store, where they would expect you to work a minimum of 4 hours a day, 2/3 days a week.

When starting a venture online, this is the best way to start, by doing 4 hours a day when you have time in your week to do so.You can do this how you choose either by

    Being a clickbank affiliate or

If you are serious about wanting to change your life and situation, then by starting a small business. If you choose this route, then you will want an autorepsonder, so you can build your list

Then you have to be consistent, persistent and do it daily, for a period of at least 18 months ( same as in a real job) before the effects of that take effect.. However when they take effect, they are good and very satisfying.

From a personal Point of view ,I started in 2000, spent a lot of years promoting affiliate product after affiliate product, before learning the 'right' way to earn online. That was in 2007 ~ Once I learnt the right way, I bounced myself out of my then day job to start my own full time online marketing consultancy, which still grows to this day.

There were time along the way, when I felt like quitting, but didn't. I used the experiences to turn a 'loss' as such into profit and went from there.

It works, especially when you are the 'hunted' not the hunter'

    Applied educationis the difference

Hey man, how are you doing?

I understand what are you passing through, I've been passing through this for a while. I had a sensory marketing business that stopped growing. And I became very hopeless about my skills and what I could reach.
Unfortunately or not I sold my business, I just couldn't handle it anymore and my efforts to turn the thing around would be hard, and I didn't have that energy to keep going on.
Well, I'm not saying that you should give up your business, but you should NOT continue on the inertia. This is the most dangerous thing and can bring you to ground....
Some times we have to be shaken and slapped in the face to understand that we need to keep moving on with strength, otherwise we will not reach any place. Remember, you just have one life, every second is precious, and the work you do with your hands matters, for you and for the world.

I've heard the same "speech" yesterday and I decided to keep moving on. Made a account in this forum, and now its time to dive in marketing and practice my English for a very hard job interview that I have in January.

Get rid of all demotivation and go on, we are all subjected to fail.

About your business, always think about the differentiation and value proposal. Search about the Canvas Business Model.

I broke 4 times, and I also tried a lot of times, and finally paid off my efforts into 60k passive income after a decade. You have no reason to give up, once you give up, you are DONE! Keep trying and also write down your mistakes, don't make them again and continue to go on. Keep going on, one day you will succeed.

This thread is getting pretty old. I hope you'll give an update on your status.

I'll chime in on what others have said...failure can happen. I don't want to say it's inevitable, because it's NOT. Having said that, when it does happen, can you LEARN FROM IT? That is the key to success.

I had a failed business. Looking back, I analyzed what I could have done differently and what my weaknesses were, and it doing that, it also made me realize what my strengths were.

Perhaps if you can identify what has gone wrong before you will be in a better position to correct it now. Without knowing anything about your business, have you had an outsider review your site to see if it's easy to use, pleasing to the eye, and free of typos? What about you--is the service or product you're offering something you're knowledgeable about or something you believe in and support? Do you take the time to follow up on leads or respond quickly to inquiries or sales? If these things are bogging you down, there are services you can take advantage of to help improve them. You don't have to do everything on your own!

Another thing to take away from "failure" is that you had the guts to TRY something. You are in a minority of the population--most people can only wish they would have the nerve to do what you DID. You're a risk taker, and most people aren't--they just dream their lives away and suffer in jobs they hate everyday because the don't have the courage to step out on their own!

    Yes you will.

Now dont take this the wrong way, but you will.

The reason being your mindset is that of a failure, so regardless of what you do, you wont be able to achieve success, if you cant see it!

Stop copying without the needed knowledge, work on yourself instead. The fastest way to success isnt through hard work, its through smart work! You are being your worst enemy by beating yourself down! Get back to the drawing board, and clean out the garbage within while you are at it!

    Shocker!

Truth of the matter is you still need some sort of regular income to not only pay your bills but to also give you some capital to invest in your business....many people work full-time and work on their biz part time until they can find success.

Like others here are saying don't give up but try to focus your efforts on one model and get as much help as possible within that model without wandering away and getting distracted...easier said that done
