Hello,

I've recently discovered the amazing classic book from Maxwell Maltz, Psycho Cybernetics. It really resonates with me as I've finally found out what my issue is...bad self image. The self image of a stupid, awkward, shy person. Now I know how to change it and thankfully I've discovered that I'm pretty good at visualizing clear pictures and adding in the 5 senses to make it feel as real as possible. I've also been reading stuff from Neville Goddard so I added his suggestions into my visualization sessions. So that part I'm fine with right now.

My issue is what do you do the rest of the day? What does Maltz really recommend? At one point he says to stay present and completely focused on what you're doing throughout, not thinking about anything else. Your subconscious mind cannot respond to what will happen tomorrow or even one minute from now, which is why he suggests not leaving the present moment other than your visualizations.

Another part of the book he recommends "acting as if" throughout your day. In my case, acting as a confident, smart, relaxed, and outgoing person. Doesn't that require thinking and not being present? Your consciousness is preoccupied with positive thinking instead of no thinking? Or do I have this all wrong?

Please help with any information.

Bad image? It's just a foul perception that can be easily overridden. The advice you received is solid but if you want to take it to the next level you could give hypnosis a shot. Worked for me.
