Stop Procrastination From Ruining Your 2016...

As we approach the end of 2015, a New Year awaits...will it be your year?

Way too many people get stuck wishing, dreaming, planning and taking partial action, their 2016 will look exactly like 2015 which looked like all of the other past years - being stuck is the #1 challenge many of us battle as we look to grow personally and professionally.

2015 was a huge year for us thanks to these 3 methods we learned to live by...entering 2016 we will be upping the discipline making sure we put even more focus on them each day building them into the processes across our team.

Think they will help any of you needing to push through fear, uncertainty and procrastination to make 2016 meet or exceed your dreams...

1. Make sure you link what you are trying to accomplish to a Big and Emotional interest or passion. That interest needs to be in your market, your product, your role in the business, or be linked as a stepping stone to a bigger goal that holds high emotional value to you. For example, if you are trying to stop procrastinating about writing a book because you just don't find writing that interesting - then link that task to the doors it will open for you around publicity, traffic, branding, speaking opportunities, etc...that perhaps DO interest you more. We don't have to love everything we do, but we DO have to make that connection in our brains between taking action/making a sacrifice and ultimately getting us closer to our purpose driven by interest/passion.

2. Gain the knowledge and skills required to gain confidence and drown out fear of failure. So many of us are stopped in our tracks from making a bigger move by fear - the #1 way to combat fear is by taking action toward gaining knowledge and skills - when we know the way suddenly it doesn't seem so scary and the fear obstacle is gone. Another great way to put fear of taking chances/risks or giving up current habits or security is to reverse the cost/benefit of staying where you are with growing, learning and journeys. Work each day on placing more risk and fear around the status quo while you reduce your fear by taking action toward your goals.

3. Have clear plans - even if you have to change them - here's why. Procrastination feeds off of uncertainty. Just a few moments of uncertainty over what to do next and BOOM...procrastination sets in. Always have a clear set of certain objectives and plans with allocated times (think discipline) - make this your new habit over the next 2-3 months. Reduce uncertainty and you break the back of procrastination.

Do you have any to add?

    4. Send more marketing emails.

This is probably the simplest and most effective way to drive traffic to your website, increase repeat sales, and build a relationship with customers. But it is amazingly overlooked. If you're like most marketers, you use email to send periodic messages to your list, announce product launches, and promote occasional sales and specials. That's not nearly enough. You should be regularly communicating with your subscribers. Once a week is a rule of thumb minimum--twice a week is better. And make sure you are sending fresh, simple, digestible info.

Definitely Steve - consistency and frequency of action. In many cases there is something holding people back though...often with email marketing it is a scarcity mentality leading to fear.

If you are only getting a few leads every week, then people are scared to do anything that will alienate those leads...even though we all know the only way to eventually convert them is frequency and consistency.

On the other hand, if you up your lead gen, go out and do some things differently so that you have dozens of leads/day on your way to hundreds then you are not as fearful of continuing to engage with them....
