I guess im discouraged, i had an interview today to be an intern for a multimillionaire as his mentee, but it was out in jersey and i couldnt really drive there without my parents finding out, i got kinda excited but then it just all came crashing down. Very angry at my parents and myself too because i got scared. I guess its time to look for a new mentor opportunity

Fear doesn't do anything for you, you just got a good taste in that.

In the future, if you really want an opportunity, there's nothing that is going to stop you.

Not your parents, not the distance, nada. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Sucks you dropped the ball on this one, hopefully another door will open for you.

I'm confused as well. Why would your parents not approve unless there is something not being said.

    Reality check:

#1 - If you worry more about your parents finding out, then you don’t really deserve a multi-millionaire mentor.

#2 - If you do things the same way, you’ll get the same results. It is “guess I need to find a way to take ownership of my life” and not “look for a new mentor opportunity”.

      Man I get it bro.

I love my family and friends, but I've personally found that no matter
how close you are, they'll advise you and try to make you stick to the
"normal" ways of making money because it's the safe bet.

It sucks because you put yourself out there and let people know this
is what you want to do and they kind of sh*t all over it despite not
knowing the first thing about it really.

Your circumstance may be a little tough, this is where you separate
mice from men (to not be cliche at all lol).

I think you'll deserve it when you're willing to do whatever it takes,
which in this case is listening to their input, but not giving a sh*t and
doing what makes you happy man.

I wish the best for you bro.

There's gonna be some obstacles and setbacks man, just part of it.

      Good luck bro.

So they want you to be either poor or mediocre most likely because they would rather see you do that then get hurt.

Look, you need to understand that at some point in life, your parents can't help you anymore and their actions (granted they may be good in nature) are actually hurting you or preventing you from taking the path you want to take.

They are not you, they are them, do not let them control you, and understand that most people can not fully control themselves but will try to control others. And they will fail ...

Find an audio copy of Bob Proctor's Art of life and throw it on an mp3 player / phone.

Don't be afraid of failing anything, most people never even get the chance to try.

What ever you do, get back up. I could make a thread 500 pages long about how many times I failed or screwed things up. The only way you will ever discover the outcome of anything is by doing it.

I had a 20k a month business that I didn't take very seriously and it got completely destroyed in less than a week. 20k a month to zero... It was hard, it took me awhile, I did end up in a very dark place, but one day I realized I discovered that I had an ability that most people do not have. So, I got back up, I didn't repeat the mistake I made, and guess what? It wasn't anywhere near as hard to get back to where I was. I'm not going to say how much I make now but, lets just say I feel that income level is a joke and if you're talented and dedicated I think you will some day agree.

Because you want to do 200 kg deadlifts when you can't do a push-up. If you don't get the analogy, in order to succeed at that level, you need to have some foundation of self-esteem, individualism and maturity.

The ability to be able to say "Good bye" to your parents and take life into your own hands it is a prerequisite of having a multi-millionaire mentor.

I think you need to not think so much about what your parents wants and put yourself first, and follow your dreams and do what YOU want.

This is a really interesting situation you find yourself in. I've been in business for myself for almost 20 years now. I've made a great living and have used self-employment to out-earn both of my parents. By most American standards, we are very well-off.

However, my parents have never quite understood why I didn't join a gigantic company. Despite my financial freedom, my kids never having to want for anything, and all of the ability my job gives me to see my family, they (my parents) STILL think that what I do is riskier than being employed by a large firm...

Being employed by someone else is the riskiest thing you can do...

I'd just suggest to look for another mentor down the road and when you do find that person, don't let anything get in the way of that learning opportunity...

Sorry to hear that, but it happens to the BEST of us.

now this will seem harsh ..but i ended up waiting until my parent died to have to figure out exactaly what i wanted to do with my life ..now i have to take what little money i have now move far away from the rest of my family ..and do what i want to do with my life ..

what ever job you can do now will probably be eithe automated, made obsolet .. or outsourced .. in the next 10-20 years ..

pretty much all companies are only going to hire you for a few years then use you up and toss you out ..even Disney replaced high payuing american tech workers with h1-b workers ..

so you have to respond to your parent pesimism.. with a heavy dose of why you are pesimistic about going the route of getting a job ..

now you can and should get a job that support your needs ..and then build a business on the side .. or develop skill you can out to work in smaller businesses ..

you are young/ with no responsabilities yet.. get a job and build a business in your spare time and when you can support yourself from what the business makes..do so ..

your parents are not your enemies .. they want what is best for you..and they might not fully want to grasp the reality of what is going on in the economy ..
