How to overcome failure in this business

Something that is so hard in this business is how much failure you encounter along the way. You often hear some of the most respected minds in any market talk about how many times they failed along the way.

Failure in this business is unavoidable. You will hit roadblocks. You will struggle with technical aspects. You will want to give up. Plain and simple, a lot of things wont work as planned.

But, if you can keep your focus, you can win.

It's easy to give up on something quickly when it's not working. Think about how many times you've changed your online business model, chose a different niche, tried a new traffic source etc.

What would have happened if you had stayed focused at mastering what you started with?

Where would you be now?

Focus on the small wins along the way. Realize that even when something isn't working right away it is ultimately moving you towards your end goal. Even if it's a failure its a learning experience that points you in the right direction.

Keep your head down, be consistent, and keep trying!

Pick yourself up and fail again. The only way around it.

I love to focus on the small wins. People are way more focused on the end result than all the things they are doing to in between that they may have never actually done before.

Yep. Einstein was right: genius is 1% talent and 99% perspiration.

I know for me, a while back, something just clicked in my brain. I had a clear goal and a clear set of numbers I wanted to hit (in terms of conversion rate and traffic). I told myself that I was going to reach that destination at all costs. I was going to get smashed in the face time and time again by obstacles, but I would be resolved to overcome each one on my journey to the destination.

It was an attitude that I'd never had before in IM, and I think anybody who has had some success can relate to it. I'm pretty evangelical about it: I believe it is an essential component of success, and if you're not feeling it in your current venture then you need to consider something else.

Every successful person has had more failures than instant wins. Many of the most wealthy entrepreneurs will say that it is the person that picks themselves up after a failure that is the one to succeed. Think about the mistakes that large companies have made. Think about those who have seeming been indestructible and then lost most of their market share only to gain it again.

How many companies/brands have the most well known businessmen started? Many more than those that are established household names today. However, it takes just those few ideas that are mega successes to make the millions. Just keep going and the money will start to come in. Not everything works all the time, even for people that are at the top of their game.

A good place to get ideas is Flippa. Look at what other websites are doing and then try to establish similar sales techniques in your own market niche. There is a general business site that has been started. In its infancy, but will be useful to many entrepreneurs over time (I hope).

You need to have a buzz/excitement for what you are doing. That way, picking yourself up after an unsuccessful venture is easier. If you lose that buzz, select a different niche.

I think that you need to have a mindset that you will fail. Keep trying enough and you will eventually succeed.

Absolutely right. Years ago, I gave up on internet marketing because I didn't make enough to survive from it. And then I lost my focus and got to do other stuff.

Thinking back now, I probably would be very successful if I choose to stay on and continue to improve and work hard on my internet business.

Fortunately, I decided to come back in now and do my very best...
