8 Tips On How To Stay Motivated

Sustaining motivation can be tough under the best circumstances. It's not magic. There isn't any pill you can take to make you feel motivated.

If you're not motivated, you're more likely squander your time and neglect your personal and professional goals. So, what can you do?

  • Set goals. You should start with simple goals and then progress to longer range goals. Make sure to make those goals both realistic and achievable or else you'll feel frustrated and give up.
  • Make weekly checkpoints to track your progress. You should see how much you accomplish in one week. This will allow you to see how close you are from achieving the goal.
  • Reward yourself every time you achieve your weekly goals. Think about something you really like doing and do it. This will allow you to celebrate the fact you reached your weekly goals but it will also help you stay motivated for the next week.
  • Staying motivated is a marathon, not a race. If you go to fast or push too much, you'll burn. So, make some breaks along the day, while keep focused when you're working.
  • Don't dwell on failure. We all have good weeks and we all have bad weeks. You're not going to accomplish your weekly goals every time. So, when you don't reach them, don't be too hard on yourself. Take it as a lesson and try to complete your next target before time, so you can use the saved time to complete the pending work.
  • Have a strategy, but be prepared to change course. You may have defined a strategy to the last detail, but there are some variables you just don't control.
  • Stay positive. It's pretty hard sometimes but motivation goes hand in hand with positivity. Just keep your head up and push forward.
  • Listen to music. Some people find this highly relaxing and motivating. Usually, people prefer classic music in the background.

Beautifully said Verdatti and I wish I can provide a quality addition to this but you summed it up well.

I will add this: For those lacking motivation completely. Expect to see change only when you make change happen.

    Some might be thinking:
    - "What can I do to change my life now?"
    - "I don't feel in control or have anything to change for the better"
    - "I'm positive, I have goals to be successful, what more do the world want?"

I felt this way, I asked myself these things and I couldn't find the answer by myself.

Then along came Warrior Forum... I began feeling motivated when I discovered others who were making small achievements in their lives. Nothing huge, but a progress I wanted to see for myself. All of these personal development posts did play a part in changing my life around but only because I took the first step and setting a REALISTIC goal.

    A REALISTIC GOAL!

Not, I want to me a great musician in a couple years,..
Not, I want to be a famous actor,..
Not, I want to run a successful business,..
    - These Are Dreams -

A realistic goal is the most crucial step. The biggest change your life will ever experience will begin when you start accomplishing realistic goals. Ones that will help you reach your "Dream".

So,,, Do you want to be a great musician??
    Go,, Write a song!
Oh,, You already wrote a song?
Then it's time to make a statement and prepare for failure.

Remember This: When you fail. what you do after you fail will be the true test of fate.

I failed many times before I started making money with my online business. Guess what! It didn't matter because I kept getting back up until my Realistic goals were met. Everything else just fell into place.

P.S. I was financially broke a few years ago.. I had to refocus, which is why I support Verdatti and his list. These are crucial if you want to achieve and sustain a successful lifestyle.

Create a plan to reach your goal. if you want to learn how to stay motivated with your goals, then one of the first things you do after you create your goal is to create a plan. Without a plan, it would be difficult to reach a goal as you would just be all over the place.

Exactly! Thanks for mentioning it. The plan is really important, and without it it's easy to feel lost.

Staying positive is probably the hardest thing for most people. When you are just not having a good day it is hard to get anything done! Great points and I really enjoyed the short read.

Thank you Mia. I agree with you, it's not easy to stay positive. But you know what? Even in a bad day we all have good things in our life. As long as we appreciate them and remember the good things we already have and the ones we desire, everything gets a little easier.

I am a little hard on myself when I don't reach my goals, but catch myself whenever I start beating myself up and realize I am still doing much more than I was before.

Thanks for the post. I know "setting goals" and hitting them or coming close is very important. Even if they are smaller goals that will lead to the "Big Picture". All the little goals will get you closer to the big goal.

I send "automated signals" to my mind via thought projection using powerful programs. This way I'm ultra motivated for achievement.

    Thats a great list!

When I think of goals - sometime the goals build and build up on themselves to the point they seem monumental. Then its time to give up - they are just to far to reach.

I started breaking down goals into smaller more manageable ones. Once I did that, the point to breakdown seized to exist, and I could punch through anything.

OP is definitely on point regarding setting SIMPLE goals

The key is to PSYCHOLOGICALLY PRIME yourself for ACHIEVEMENT

Nothing is more demotivating than FAILING to achieve a complex goal...... So....

Knock out VERY SIMPLE goals... Feel pumped THEN scale up to more challenging goals

This way, you stay motivated throughout.

    Great post, OP! Much appreciated

It is obvious that there are many people who find it hard to get motivated or just feel that their motivation level is completely diminished. That is why I think it is great that you decided to share such useful tips here. Most of all I liked the advice not to dwell about the failure, because we all have good weeks and we all have bad weeks. It is a life!
