Keep Going / Never Give Up

Before you achieve the success you're looking for,
you may experience what Napoleon Hill calls
"Temporary Defeat." (In fact with most of the
successful people Hill interviewed for his book
"Think And Grow Rich" it was found they their
success came just one point after defeat had
overtaken them.)

Unfortunately, for most people, this is where they
give up - never accomplishing their goal(s). You
probably won't fully grasp what I'm about to tell
you, however I'm going to share it with you anyway:
No matter what happens (including adversity,
failure, and heartache) you can learn something
along your journey that will make you more
successful.

As one of my favourite quotations from Thomas J.
Watson goes:

"Would you like me to give you a
formula for success? It's quite simple,
really. Double your rate of failure."

At first glance you may be thinking that I've lost
my mind. However that's because you don't
understand that "failure" is something that teaches
you how to succeed.

As Watson continues: "You're thinking of failure as
the enemy of success but it isn't at all. So go
ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can.
Because, remember, that is where you will find
success." By understanding this wonderful truth, you
should eliminate a great percentage of your fear of
"failure."

The more you struggle at making your
Entrepreneurial dreams a reality, the greater your
success and personal satisfaction. No matter what
happens I'm doing everything in my power to make
my current Website a $1,040,000/year business.
That's been my dream every since I was a child. And
I welcome anything and everything I can learn that
will help me reach that goal.

I encourage you to start pursuing your dreams as
well knowing that nothing (including "failure") can
stop you. I'll leave you with a quotation from
Napoleon Hill:

"Before success comes in any person's life,
they are sure to meet with much temporary
defeat and perhaps some failure. When defeat
overtakes a person, the easiest and most
logical thing to do is to quit. This is exactly what
the majority of people do. More than 500 of the
most successful people this country has ever
known told the author their greatest success
came just one step beyond the point at which
defeat had overtaken them.''

Can be done, no matter how wild your goal is. I know someone who sells products that people step on their tongues to buy them (I am one of them). All you have to do is come up with the key formula that brings all the pieces together. But first, you must self-develop.

You can either sidestep the problem and throw a hook or keep your guard up and counter when the timing is right.

That advice from the founder of IBM is solid gold

What he is REALLY saying is ACCELERATE your curiosity

Don't be afraid to keep trying something new as you try to solve the SAME problem set

This is different from the Shiny Object Syndrome that predictably leads to failure

Good point. Personally I look at "failure" as being an "opportunity." However if people find a different approach more empowering, that's great too.

Interesting. : ) I've never heard it put like that before. However, yeah, I agree. Keep trying/"failing" until you solve the problem(s).

I like that. "Double your rate of failure" doesn't mean TRY to fail... It means that you should KEEP TRYING. For authors, "double your stack of rejection letters" means keep submitting your work - all you need is ONE "YES" to get that book published anyway.

    Yes, you are right!
We must do something for our success and for our happiness! For the first, try to change yourself (it is very difficult, but after than your world will be changed too)! It can be very hard work, but YOU can do everything!

      Welcome Nathan.

Just read your "Rags To Riches To Rags" story.

There's no doubt in my mind that if you apply yourself (and keep learning) you will be successful.

The way to turn adversity in your favor is to treat it as a part of the process towards success.

If before starting out at anything you accept the fact that there will be challenges, disappointments and failures along the way but all that is a part of the journey towards success then you will not get disappointed and discouraged by the impediments,

        Thanks for the share.
        It was a nice reminder!!

"Wishing will not bring riches," Hill writes. "But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches."

The above is my favorite quote from the book. It's the whole story in a few words...

THAT is a plan of action.

The title of this thread basically says it all.

I would rather not fail but I do know how to learn and improve from it.

It's also important to celebrate our achievements no matter how small.

Some people that we may feel have it all still may not feel fulfilled.

Holding true to my dreams of self sustained success has taken me on a roller coaster ride of failures. I DO believe with all my heart and soul that it's all a part of success. Learning to accept failure and seeing it as another lesson learned. It's so true. Success is attracted to those who have faith. I surrender to God as often as I can knowing that in this life I am truly not in charge. God has a greater plan for me and simply going forwards day by day with highest expectations is the most positive way. Amen to that. One day at a time with love in my mind.
