Reasons why everyone should own an 'asset' online

I come from a finance background and i enjoy managing portfolio, trading and calculating ROI performance.

But guess what, marketing ROI has the highest return on capital I have ever seen, especially since the advert of the internet.

I am now throughly convinced that everyone should own an asset online, like as a website, blog. The return on your investment, assuming you outsource everything, will be much greater than a mere 8% return a year, based on S&P500.

Also, did I mention that you can actually sleep well at night? Website income is less volatile than your stocks. Yes google owns your website in some sense. But if you write well and you own an email list, you own an asset that is truly unlike no other.

This is why a modern portfolio should include alternative investment in the virtual world like the internet, because this is where the riches will be.

    I totally agree that owning some kind of asset online does greatly contribute to online wealth and a potential, job replacing income.

    You mentioned blog and an email list and I gotta admit that you definitely hit the nail on the head by including these in your list of assets to have.

    Im just trying to reach out as many people as I can! Every great success story also starts with a mindset shift, to move away from the traditional asset classes in this sense.

    I used to work in the data and leads business.

    Although I did very well and have achieved great levels of success doing that, I came to a rude realization one day that if I was ever to go, there really was no business without me.

    This moment about 3 1/2 years into my business struck a nerve with me and forced me to make some very difficult changes in my business. I hired approx 20 new people over the next year, including a new full time CTO and Business Manager, opened up a call center that is actively growing, manage a small mailing team, and have an online casino and sportsbetting business about to come live in the coming months.

    By doing this, I have been able to create a solid network of cash flow generating assets that do not require my time and attention for them to generate revenue. I agree with the OP here about creating assets, even virtual to create long term wealth.
