how do you deal with hopelessness?

hey everyone,

so i am wondering, i am about a year into starting my businesses, i made about $4k. I dont do any advertising, i focus strictly on sales. I am starting an advertising campaign soon that i hope will bring me leads. But as of now i really only have 1 customer, which i am grateful for lol...

i set up appointments to call people and i get good responses, i spent the last two months selling and i opened about $2k in deals, i say opened and not closed for a reason... lol

i'm just confused as to how in the hell i can make working for myself a viable option, i get very close to closing, but no money in the hand, im debating just going back to school and starting over

I usually take action everyday and set up at least one phone call for the next day which generally goes well, no closes, but close...

what would you do in my situation?

Edit:

I just want to add i LOVE business, marketing and sales... they are my passion, and i dont want to give up... but if i gotta do it to move out and move on with my life i guess its what i have to do...

Sounds like you're great at getting leads. So you have to figure out why you're not closing. Are your potential clients giving you any idea why they're saying no?

    Is it price?

    Quality of product?

    Timing of delivery?

    You're presentation?

Have you checked what your competitors are doing?

Until you know what's wrong it's hard to fix the problem.

Just think of the things why you still holding on.

Use them as your motivation to still keep going.

Use them as your inspiration to do something innovative. Don't just settle for what you already know.

If it isn't a problem with your product, is it a problem with your ability to close? A lot of people have inherent, limiting beliefs when it comes to sales.

Another way to attack the problem would be to take a course in the art of pick up (I haven't done this, but something I read recently made this seem relevant!). The instructors teach you the psychology of creating social connections, building rapport and trust, and ultimately closing the deal. A little ingenuity would make the skills transferable.

Good luck, and remember, if you give up you'll be stuck struggling through something you don't enjoy for the rest of your life. This struggle is short term.

I feel little uncomfortable with the feeling of hopelessness. That's why, I always try to motivate myself even in adverse situation. For you my suggestion is, focus on advertisement also. It is the basic aspect of increasing the sales. If you don't want to spend money on advertisement campaigns then visit free online ads sites and post ads for free to expose your business to your potential consumers.

Try to find out the reason for your failure. And whey you don't find one, then its not your fault, keep trying my friend.
