Don't let being "perfect" stop you

Perfectionism can rob you of your self-esteem, undermine your relationships, and keep you from enjoying life.
It can be a hard habit to break, but it's possible to get out of that mode and into the "sell something or die" mode, where you consistently show up and take action like your life depends on it.

It all starts with changing your self-talk. For every one negative thought, consciously find five positive ones, whether it's about you, what you're doing, etc. You can do it.

There is power in the pen. Keep a journal or a notepad of your thoughts or what you're worried about and examine them later. Then write what really happened.

I used to do this...and often felt silly, so my thinking pattern shifted rather quickly.

Change crappy statements to questions - "I can't do this!" could become "How can I do this?". There's always more than one way to skin a cat. Find it. It's not about things being perfect. Just believe you can. And you will.

How are you taking next steps?

    Hey thanks for your thread,
To stop to be perfect, first I go to the action with spontaneity and to accept to make mistakes.
Then, to fight against to look like ridiculous I decided to be even "MORE ridiculous".
I explain: to be ridiculous is not to make something but to create a lock to avoid to do. And it's here we can create our own fear.
The perfectionism is only on our actions, not on the result ;-)

Acceptance- that we will make mistakes is dead on. I totally agree!

I think that "Perfectionism" is an effect rather than a cause.

For many people that could be the fear of "failure" and/or making "mistakes" and appearing foolish. We're all Human in that respect. : )

Nice : ). That's a great way to begin re-programming your mind for success.

Exactly. Belief in ones's Self and what they're accomplishing is half the battle (IMO).

    thank for this great thread.
for me, when dealing with the fear of " not perfect" i use action to counter it. i remember Brian Tracy words that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing badly the first time, or until you master it. that is one way. and if i still cannot overcome it, i use meditation to help bring me back together, and ask the question " what is the worst outcome of this if i mess it up?" i answer it, and i accept the outcome ( well, of course if the outcome is acceptable for me too) , and then i start doing everything to improve the chance of making the outcome better.

Great insight. It reminds me of when I fear asking for something. I ask myself, "what's the worst thing they can say?" Usually the answer to that is "no". Once I accept that "no" might be the answer, it becomes easier to just go for it and move on

Thanks for reminding. We should not let perfectionism stops us.
Last time when I first started, I used to think that I need to be perfect to do it, to write article, to share and to do internet marketing, luckily I did buy into it and let it stops me.
