Do you learn from your mistakes?

I can relate with this. I had a lot of mistakes too, some gave me lessons to learn and some are just the results of human weakness. All I can say is that experience is the best teacher about life.

There are many mistakes I have made in my life, many I have learned from and some I still don't get...

one mistake I say that I wish I could change is making better business decisions in the past, as I look back on those decisions if I had made the right decision I think I would have gain more money and brain power...

I've learned more things from screwing up than from doing it the right way, that's for sure. The beauty of screwing up is that you have to find out how you screwed up and how you can fix it. That is learning!

I think I've screwed up about 10 times for every time I did it right the first time.

well, of course we should learn from our mistakes.
Because this is what life teaches us.

In our mistakes, we learned everything from it and it also make us to be complete.

It is a shame people are not perfect..including parents.
But the fact is they are not.....not any one of us.
And when we have someone controlling in our life it makes things all the harder.
But one thing I can tell you is that you and you alone are in control of your life.
I am happy that you are finding yourself as it is not an easy thing to do and perhaps the hardest thing you will ever do. Many never succeed at this.

Just know that every right thing and wrong thing that you do is what creates you. That bad relationship or that terrible job or the traumatic childhood along with all of the successes are all a part of what makes moneysoapbox that special, unique person that she is.
Don't ever regret or despair but take life as an adventure and live it.
This is not a practice session but a one time thing. And if people do not like who you are then F' em! Their loss.....

I have 2 sons about your age and it tears my heart out watching them learn from their mistakes.
I so much want to jump in and help them up and wipe their noses but they are now men and must learn from their own mistakes as everyone does.
They are finding that they choose their own paths in life and have no one to blame for the paths that they do choose but themselves.
I gladly give advice when asked but until recently they have seldom listened. I think they have finally figured out us old folk do know a thing or two about life.

Everyone learns from their mistakes. If not the human race would have been long gone from repeatedly walking into the fire.

Well it also goes with the saying that "Experience is the Best Teacher", for we can all know that we did wrong, if we tried/did it. But the advantages of it is that, from that mistake, we can try to avoid doing it and make it right.

Yes I try my best to learn from my mistakes.. It's the only way to improve as a person.. yep.

Usually it will takes me to make the same mistake a few times before I learn the lesson. I'm stubborn and as long as I think its right, I will keep on do it.
But I do believe that people should learn from mistake and that experiences is the best lesson.

Doing things wrong and learning from your mistakes are without question the best learning or teaching lessions in life. I tend to mull over mistakes i have made and worry about them etc, but its those mistakes that have helped me in future business to do the correct thing instead of sometimes weakness of being a human. I have succeeded from doing things wrong at first essentially.

I was always told to try everything once, then you learn what not to do next time!

Sometimes I learn from my mistakes the first time and then I'm really happy because I don't have to repeat the lesson. Sometimes I have a thick head and don't learn from a mistake. Then the lesson gets repeated until I do learn it. I hate it when I realize that I had the opportunity to learn the lesson before and didn't, but I also recognize that we all sometimes repeat mistakes and I'm no different than anyone else. So then the best next step is to just learn and move on.

What I really love, though, is when I can learn something without having to make a mistake myself. For example, when I'm reading threads here in the forum and learn from something someone posts and I don't have to go through the mistake myself because I can apply the knowledge that the poster has shared. That's a real treasure because it saves us time and energy and allows us to move forward more quickly and efficiently.

There seems to be a good balance between those mistakes I have to learn on my own and those that I can avoid because of my own common sense or because of something I've learned from someone else or from reading etc. etc.

Making A Mistake: I was just thinking something similiar to this the other day that came up in a conversation with a friend of mine. I could of retired from the Army National Guard 2 years ago had I stayed in. Hind site is always 20/20. Being 17 years old at that time you do not think about retirement. Next thing you know 20 years has come and gone. I ended up serving 11 years w/ one tour in Iraq during Desert Shield/Storm. After getting out, my Unit deployed again a few years later to Iraq. I think to myself, had I satyed in; would I have been fortunate to stay alive and able to survive again, would I have been able to handle leaving my wife and kids (which I did not have the first time I deployed)? Lets think about this. I was able to move on with my life and my career w/o the Military Life. Blessings come in many different forms so I ask the question: Did I really make a mistake by not staying in the Military? I do not think so? That was just the closing of one door and the opening of another door of opportunity. Most of the time mistakes are a good thing because you learn from them and they lead you to other paths to explore where you are better off to be anyway. I am successful and happy with my current life. No regrets here.

I agree. Even the most successful person in the world make mistakes and this is how we pick up the knowledge. Nothing is better than going through trial and error and improve from there.

At 20 yeas old, you are wise beyond your years and clearly have profited from your mistakes.. Way to go.
