Alibaba and 40 Rejections

Here's an interesting article I read about Alibaba's founder and his almost an endless list of rejections he had to go through:
Alibaba founder Jack Ma on rejection - Business Insider

Here's the catch. I thought that I'm gonna hear one more boring story about keep trying no matter what and blah blah you'll succeed.

No, if you're failing in one field, maybe it's about time to try something else. We'll have a door to business, success, or fame, which is waiting just for us. However, I have some questions to ask.

What if I'm too late?
How to know which field is the right for you, if you give up after the first obstacle?
Does every rejection take a piece of your energy and enthusiasm?

When Alibaba Jack Ma looks back at all of these rejections, it seems like a joke to all of us. Yet, only he knows how he must've felt back then.

    .
I think that if you'd do it for free then it's a fairly good indication that the field is right for you.
I have honestly had some crap jobs over my 36 years, and I'll tell you one thing any obstacles have strengthened my resolve to aim for exactly what I want to do. It's a motivator more than anything getting rejected or not achieving something. There is a point where you have to re-access what you are doing sometimes and I think it's fair to say what I started out doing 20 years ago is not what I am doing. Evolving with the process is important. I am sure that Jack Ma is pleased he stuck to his guns. What a result!

Right. Also, my definition of a dream job. When you like it so much that you would've done such things for free. But then, I remind myself of that famously infamous scene from the Dark Knight.
