Maintaining Focus and Concentration

I have observed how writing daily goals on paper have helped me to maintain focus and concentration on a project. When i was not doing this, i found it difficult starting and getting to the ends of projects. I always found myself starting a new project before I finish one. Sometimes, i abandon some projects along the way. Since i started keeping this daily paper goals which i allow to concentrate on the project at hand, i have seriously helped my focus and concentration.

How have you helped your focus and concentartion

I agree, writing down your daily goals is extremely helpful in staying focus and motivated. I like to keep my lists short, 3 to 5 key things that are imperative to moving my project forward. I find that by keeping it short it helps me work more efficiently.

I also like/need to use a calendar. I can't live without this clear weekly overview. Especially, when I have a couple of projects to work on at the same time. Need to know when I can expect to deliver and ask money for my work. You're right, without these lists I would feel completely lost. Thx.

Studies repeatedly show that written goals make a difference.

In addition, I seek to create habits for daily goals that are ongoing. Once something is solid, I stop writing it down -- thus, for example, I don't write down brushing my teeth throughout each day.

As I establish habits, I track progress. For example, I use a daily graphic on my monthly calendar that I color in using bright red ink for goals that I still need to track visually... and green writing for special items that are not daily.

Maintaining focus is a challenge, let's be honest we all can get distracted when we should be working or doing certain tasks. I think it comes down to being super organised and ensuring you have enough balance in your day. I'd recommend ensuring you get enough sleep, work when you know you are most alert (this may be early in the morning for some people or late at night for others), set up a task manager or systems such as Insightly which lists all of the tasks you need to get done in order of importance and the day it needs to be completed, if you are a little behind in any project make sure you project manage properly and contact the people who are working for to manage their expectations and give them an update. I would say that the key to my focus and concentration being at optimum levels is to ensure I am happy, healthy and I am ensuring I get the right amount of down time - which basically for me means spending time with friends, family and completely away from technology. It is hard to maintain focus and meet all of your expected goals, however if you set yourself up to success and ensure you have all the right tools to help you get there you will experience success. Good luck.

Making notes can help you attend your goals. I use rememberthemilk.com to remind me of the tasks I will do everyday. If notes won't do, I have someone to remind me of the tasks, I am so forgetful.
