How to Handle Objections

How do you handle objections? For me, when objections happen be it for product or to join my team, my mantra is to stay calm and to keep my power. Replying with simple questions back, with out being defensive, can diffuse the situation and get to the root of what the person hidden objection really is. Sometimes the person is just a jerk, and you have to be ready for those situations too.

What kind of objections do you mean? Are you talking within the workplace when you ask someone to do a task, or do you mean from your customers?

Objections in business are normal and you do need to develop a thick skin. I would be really careful not to put emotion into your dialogue and always try and respond professionally, or if you are worried about your reaction via email or phone, put off responding until you have a cooler head. I have found that in business, there are some people who I'm just not going to please and usually my radar will go off when I am quoting to these types of people and I will quote myself out of the job as I don't really want to work with them. Accept criticism, it's healthy and may help you improve your craft. It's not always going to be a walk in the park, however, do be assertive and if your client or prospective client is out of line simply listen to their objection, thank them for their time and move on. If people object to a quote or price for work there are usually a range of reasons for this, and if they don't appreciate the skill and work that goes into marketing, it's better off you don't work together anyway and you have dodged a bullet.

I suggest going to their heads from around, befriend them a little, make them somehow pleased and when their bullshit detectors are down and they like you, somehow get to your offer. Maybe not all of them will open up or like you, but if you're a good "befriender" you can close more deals for sure.
Eye contact, interest, paying respect, some contact like minnimum a hand shake, show something personal of yours and many more techniques to create rapport.
Google: "Rapport is a close and harmonious relationship in which the people or groups concerned understand each other's feelings or ideas and communicate well."

A good question indeed and I think it should be discussed more often.Personally, I only take the offensive stand when the objections being made are invalid and are artificially constructed to deviate from making payments. These kind of clients frustrate me a lot because it puts all your hard work in jeopardy. But apart from that some objections are good for your business to evolve .Therefore most of the time you have to keep your personal feeling aside because the customer is not angry with you but is dissatisfied with the service you're providing.Last and most important.Don't let them rule your head.Find a solution and solve it as quickly as possible.

    Cheers

I'm tempered and migh have a problem with anger issues,I don't accept objections if I don't think the objection is in order to improve my work.

    It happens. A lot.

Here's something I've read from a sales book long ago:
"Some will, some won't, so what? Someone's waiting!"

There's millions of people around you, so don't get discouraged if you get rejected by the first couple of dozen. You'll find clients. Just keep looking!

And take a break every once in a while. "Stressed and defeated" makes bad first impressions with clients.
