When working towards a goal you will find yourself in a conflict when it comes to making decisions outside of your comfort zone.

Usually what happens when you're faced with a challenge and/or tough decision, your ego attempts to keep you in safe by suggesting you make the most comfortable decisions within your comfort zone.

The problem is that when you're working towards achieving a goal you've never achieved before, you will be required to take actions you've never taken before.

You need to be aware that your ego is very powerful and it will do everything in its power to keep you in your comfort zone and away from harm. However, you also need to be aware that if you want to achieve the extraordinary you will have to go against your ego and do the exact opposite of what your ego suggests.

Successful people tend to be known for their discipline, their ability to take risks, and their fearlessness. There is a reason for that. Successful people are able to put their ego in check and even engage in self-deprecation because they don't take themselves too seriously.

Your ego is literally designed to prevent success outside of survival. So, if you're ambitious and you want to achieve goals outside of the norm, you will need to break free from your ego.

Breaking free from your ego is very difficult especially if you've never done it before, but when you do break free from your ego, you will experience a sense of freedom that you've never felt in a long-time.

blaming ego the ego you have for your problems..is the ultimate spiritual form of victim hood ..

the ego is a part of being human..like having a body ..skin color ..a voice ..and your face ..your mindset .. your belief systems ..

well here is the problem ..because the ego has been made the enemy for thousands of years ..actually figuring out how to turn your ego into a friend and servant ..verse abusing it and treating it like the enemy within ..

well to be free you need a really healthy ego ..one that allows you to be free ..and create and live the life you want ..

but most people don't want freedom.they want a slightly better or much more comfortable human experience ..

Oprah, Trump, and Martha Stewart have strong egos that propel them to success. That is not the case for most people as their egos are weak and holds them in place. Most people have low self-esteem and a weak ego, and in order to be successful you must have high self-esteem and a strong ego. When I say "put your ego in check", I mean that if your ego is weak you need to break free from that identity (by taking the uncomfortable actions that may be outside your comfort zone). This will lead to the strengthening of your ego and a boost in your self-esteem which will attract success.

yeah.. though i would say it is not that most people have week ego's ..they are compensating for a lack of self development ..and an unwillingness to show themselve to the world.. by hiding behind an ego.. that is constructed to show the world what the person thinks the world finds acceptable ..

this is where my view that we should identify our own version of success and build toward that instead of climbing societies ladder of success ..

I agree with what you're saying, I mean I think so at least if I understand it correctly.

I think sometimes as business owners, we have to also adopt the mentality of looking at our business like the most critical outsider. Rather than let your ego get in the way, and rather than have an attitude like, "Well I've always done it this way, and I know I made these decisions for a reason," you have to look at what you're doing and see if it's really working.

I found myself in this position recently because last year was a record year for us, we were doing amazing, and then the bottom fell out this year. It's not that I assumed we were doing something horribly wrong, but I wanted to ask, "What could be better? What could be working better than it is now?" I ended up deciding the home page wasn't what I wanted, I didn't like our About Page (working on it now), our blog needed to be updated frequently and with quality content, our marketing efforts needed to be refocused, and we need to go after better clients. I almost wanted to operate under the uncomfortable assumption that every single thing we're doing is suspect and potentially wrong, and go through and examine each one. Only upon more examination could each thing be "cleared" as still the best way to go, or discarded in favor of something new.

I agree with you, though, that process is uncomfortable and you have to be humble about it. It's a humbling experience to be self-critical and figure out what you're doing wrong so that you can do it better in the future, but it's also the only way to grow.

this is advanced spiritual concept that has only been valid a few years .. because the old ego .. is built around being an individual and acting disconnected ..then trying to fit in some where in human society ..

mosr human societies historically where set up us verse them..though today that illusion is still present .. the world economies are interconnected ..so in many ways there is only one economy..we grow food and ship it all over the world ...and ship it everywhere ..oil is a worldwide market ..

the computer cell phone and tv you use ..all have parts and materials from several different countries ..

so what does this have to do with ego and success ..or freedom ..

the most successful people who have built wealth ..in the last 20 years may talk the us them game but they play the connect everything together game ..

right now the sheepish ego .. or the ego built around a limited local national view ..limits your success and freedom ..everything is connected together ..

grr .. so hard to explain ..the ego the masses or peasent classes where imaprted with or had trained in the from birth.. was meant to keep them in their station as farmers and field worker or craftmen ..serving the small elitie classes..

after the industrial revolution ..scools where set up to turn farmers into factory workers ..then in the 70's the sratred being set up to send people to college ..so families and schools and the brutal condition gave people that type of ego ..

and with common core seemingly they want to train and condition everyone to be tech workers ..

so if you want freedom or as much freedome as you can handel.. your ego has to see how things are now and create your own job.. or work.. rather than look for a job someone else has created for you and wait for them to give you a job ..

a lot more people are doing this than you would think ..they just are not doing it to build great wealth ..

because if you can create work you want to do that supports the life you want to live ..and you build the ego that tells you it your right to do it ..

If you define ego as making the issue all about you, and resistance to feedback then I agree it can lead to failure. But at the same time, I don't think anyone without an ego can succeed either. You need to have ego and know your value--the worth of your ideas to push back against naysayers, or people who don't get your new idea.

Hey, I just discovered there is this forum called mind warriors,
    never saw that one before...

so ok. There is nothing wrong with having a big ego.

You just dont have to take yourself seriously. lol.
    Otherwise you're truly doomed.

But that part is misunderstood by almost everyone,
everytime i make a radical joke about something stupid
most people think I talk about their inflated ego that
    behaved badly again,

Nah, c'mon It's just the freedom FROM ego that makes
you talk as big as you like to talk. And its the lack of ego
that makes you think midley about personal attacks of
people that got a their self-esteem hurt by radical words.

Albert Einstein said: "More the knowledge, lesser the ego, lesser the knowledge, more the ego". I guess ego closes your mind to other solutions and knowledge because it makes you defensive and think you're always right. So in a way, ego imprisons you while humility enables you to learn and understand more fully, and to succeed.

    you're right mate, Zweistein too,

EGO = self-absorbed // no time for the world and other humans

so you basically think the universe circles around you,
while in reality you are just a tiny speck of dust

once you realize that, you can take any accusation
and dish them out as well for a heartfelt laughter
