What Hours do you Work?

I know this might be on odd question.

Everyone has a different recipe for success.

I know many who get up early, some who sleep in, etc.

For me.. I normally get up between 7-8am and try to wrap up around 3.

I do this to type to mesh with my kids school hours and I find it gives myself the perfect amount of sleep (if I under or over sleep, I am tired and don't function 100%)

I have a 9-5 job and currently divorced so...
    1. During the weekdays after I come back from work, I WORK from 7pm to 12am (about 5 hours)
    2. When I am on vacation or during weekends I work from 8am to around 12am.

    As much as I can

On days that I am not working I try to get up as early as possible (7/8am). I work for quite a while, usually until I have something else in my day planned. Football/gym/social activities. This usually breaks up my day, then I come back in the evening and work until I go to bed.

In total it can vary from 4-8 hours. The longer I work the more distracted I can become, though.

Since my shifts are always different, I try to get as much online work done before going to my job. Typically between 2-4 hours.

To be honest, I often get a lot more done on days that I am heading to work, or coming back. I think its because I have a specific time frame/spend so much time in working thinking about how to better myself online etc.

On my off days I have a lot of free time, so don't really rush myself.

    Just my two cents!
    -David

I have a 2 year old and run my own business from home, so while no day is 'normal' here is the recipe I work todays for a structured day.

Get up at 5:45am and work between the hours of 6am and 8am - this is where I get anything done which is outstanding ahead of anyone turning on their computers for the day. I find the earlier I get up the better my brain.

My 2.5 year old then wakes up around 8am and I have 2 or 2.5 hours to get her organised, drop off the kindy and then do any jobs I want done in the morning. This may include going to the gym if I have the time.

From around 11am to 3:30pm I usually then work quite solidly on client projects - breaking every 45 minutes or so for a few minutes to refresh my brain. This is also where I return client enquiries.

I aim to close off my day around 3:30pm

I have calculated that I need to bill 5 to 6 hours of billable hours per day to bring in the money I want to earn so if i need to earn more I change my day slightly or if I have done projects which have increased by hourly rate on average, then I may work less that week. It comes down to balance.

My husband also works from home with our business, and while his hourly rate is higher, he works about an hourly more a day to ensure he reaches his targets. At first, I thought that working for yourself would be all rainbows and lollipops and long lunches, but you do need to be very structured. That said, I ca break whenever I like, and if I have family in town or want to catch up with friends I just do work at night or on the weekend to catch up my hours.

    Good luck!

I have a company job, so I work 8 hours per day (from 9:30am till 6:30pm with 1 hour break). Right now I am also working on my own business, so after I go back from work, (depending how tired I am) I am working around 2-3 hours per day (usually from 8pm till 10-11pm).

So in total it would be 10-11 hours per day.

I am also working during the weekends but the amount of hours also depends on the day (sometimes it can be 10 hours per day, sometimes it can be 1 hour).

I have strange hours, though I suppose it happens when you're self-employed. I wake up at noon, exercise until 1pm, then work for a couple of hours depending on what's on my list, rest/nap for 30 minutes until around 5pm, then work for a couple more hours.

After that I mildly check out at 7pm unless I get inspired to add "just one more productive thing" every hour or so until I prepare for sleep at 1am.

To add to that, by the way: Just remember that it's not the number of hours you work but the quality of the work you do during those hours.

When you are a family man, then you have to make a schedule to do every task. You have to manage your working time, your family time, kids time, friends time etc
But if you are living alone then it doesn't matter when you sleep. Get some rest when you are tired.

I do my online work early mornings, or 2-3 hours before people at the house wake up. Having a lot done in the morning also helps takes the pressure off, and helps me stay more relaxed the rest of the day.

Also working late at night is bad for me because I tend to snack more and I feel sluggish/ugly during the day.

I used to work in the morning from 8am-12nn. That was when there wasn't much to study yet in school, that's because I am a working student. Now, I work at night. I think that whatever it is I do in the morning has most of my energy so I must say it's my priority. Nonetheless, when it comes to my online job, I do my best not to slack. Slacking and low quality work isn't in my vocabulary. That's why I know my worth and I think employers should give premium to those type of people. Work is work, school is school and whatever you do, you have to be at your best doing it.
