Meditate in the shower...I said meditate lol

I'm serious.

This is what I do.

I found myself thinking "I have to do 20 minutes" or
it has to be me sitting down staring at one point on
the wall, or eyes closed and humming.

But then I realized...

Do what you're comfortable with.

If it's only for 5 friggin' minutes?

Do that.

Work your way up if you want, but find some stillness
in this stimuli-rich world.

I use the shower because it's comforting.

Here's my process:
  • I start up the shower and do all the cleaning part first
  • I sit down
  • I let the water run over my head because it feels great
  • I focus on the sound of the water and my breathing
  • I smile (your physiology is a huge part!)
  • I do this for 5-10 or more minutes
  • I get out of the shower SUPER refreshed!

That's it!

What method do you use?

I'm interested to know guys.

Depends on your life goals. One of my goals in life is to always be present to the moment and have full control of my mind, so yeah I'm pretty motivated

I usually do guided meditation sessions that last roughly 20-30 minutes after an hour of yoga.

      Nice prince.

I've done the 20+ minutes in the past.

And then I got too busy or distracted since then.

I figure anything is good until you can build it up to a little longer, but
that's cool that you're able to find some stillness for that long.

      Thanks for the input!

        Thanks for the reply, Phil.
I find that being guided on a 'journey' holds my concentration and allows for a deeper meditative state than just silence.

The main three types I've experienced are

Silence only - Low meditative state (easily to break out of, somewhat still startled unless the environment is quiet enough)
Silence plus an internal single word mantra - Medium meditative state (takes much longer to 'snap out of' and must do it gradually)
Guided meditation after exercise - The deepest meditative states I can currently experience is always accompanied by a journey.

Yoga is slow enough to stretch my muscles and in some poses, bring sweat, but is not too exhaustive or rigorous to leave my lungs hurting from breathlessness. This allows my body to relax into a meditative state more easily and feel grounded in my seated position.

          Hey thanks for this.

I'm no expert on it lol.

I've done the mantra thing and the silence thing as well.

For me, it's cool to do a mix of them to not get bored with it and
because I might just be easily distractable that day lol.

Thanks for adding to the conversation!

Meditation is always necessary and it gets you ready and motivated to start the day.

I usually do a similar type of meditation but not in the shower. We live in a pretty big house with a huge garden, so I usually do my meditation in the garden (listening to the birds, the breeze as it hits the trees) pretty relaxing stuff!

  • For maxo chillout, I gotta have incense or scented candles.

Thing is, if ur gonna combine this soothin' sensual pleasure with the splasho massage factorya get with a shower ... (HOT TIP imminent) ... you gotta understand that placementa the flamin' meditatorials is crucial.

Fire an' water make traditionally for an unhappy combo.

Instead of meditating, I brainstorm during showers. Ideas seem to flow better under running water. I even do a mental review of the top things I need to get done during the day. For meditation, I actually do it while doing laundry! lol No kidding. Watching the clothes whirl around helps keep me still and just focused on that one thing. I then become more aware of the smell of soap, my skin, my breathing, and my upright body. After 10 mins, the smell and touch of clean, dry, fresh smelling clothes makes my mind feel cleansed and cool! (I stop there and start working. I don't fold the clothes anymore!)

  • Meditating right before sleep using the Cosmic Master's hypnosis programs does the trick for me. Before I was a full time schmuck. Nowadays much ... -way- more successful. And the sky's the limit. Best investment ever. Gets you in trance and that's when manifestation takes place. Works like magic.

I do it in the bath along with a few candles and insense. Oh and a notebook/pen. Wierd how if you let your mind relax it will answer the question you've been asking all day or tell you where you left your keys. Please remember before jumping out of said shower/bath to recover lost keys, YOU ARE NAKED...

I had a similar routine, I guess it was form of meditation too!

      I'd take a bath.

Add epsom salt, lavender oil and light a candle to make all smell-goody.

I'd read in the bath and it was so friggin' relaxing!

Had a bath pillow and all.

I need to do this again lol, thanks for the input.

Epsom salts used to be dirt cheap I mean cheap.

Today taking a bath with salts is a bloody luxury.

Never used a bath pillow. On my buy list.

    Thanks.

I'm currently just doing 5 minutes a day. Too much longer feels like a chore, which I've read defeats the purpose. I guess it comes down to how long you're actually enjoying doing it.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who does something similar to this

Since showering is a repetitive task and isn't productive for anything other than personal grooming, I use it as a form of therapy and meditation. The warm water and lack of distractions really helps you to just think.

Enjoyed your post, OP. I think we all have to find the way that we connect best to our own source within. I like swimming as well as the shower, kind of a water kid I guess. I also set aside time to meditate and remind myself to consciously BREATHE throughout the day, especially if things get hectic.
