What's Your Anchor Factor?

Our lives often go from happy to sad, from calm to hectic, and sometimes from amazing to downright awful.

The one thing that is a consistent rule of life is change, life changes, we change, our environments change. Since everything is constantly changing, shifting and moving - we must pick an Anchor Factor that will help keep us grounded in the chaos.

For an athlete his Anchor Factor could be his chosen sport, no matter what happens he just focuses on practice every day and that give him the anchor to focus on when time are tough and nothing makes sense, he can always go back to it.

For other people it could be the desire for wealth. These people grind and work their asses off for financial gain and have chosen to use "financial gain" as their Anchor Factor. No matter what happens they know all their problems will be solved directly or indirectly using enough cash and credit.

My Anchor Factor is my daily list of habits. No matter what happens in my life or how I feel, I know that as-long as I follow my daily habits religiously I'll be victorious. As stressful as life could get, or sometimes downright depressing, I always have my daily set of habits as a constant factor to guide me among the chaos.

Your Anchor Factor is like a flashlight and path, your life is a messy fog. The flashlight might not show you the entire path, but it will always guide you to the next step, and then the step after it.

People who don't have an Anchor Factor get lost in life, they could face a depressive period and fall into lethargic complacency; Stressed out people on the other hand could begin reacting to the very things that cause them stress, even though that would only create more of them.

I'm extremely worried for people who don't have an Anchor Factor in their life, since I know that at one point or another they'll resort to the default behavior for that situation. Depressive period will stop them, stressful periods will confuse their efforts, successful period will create entitlement and laziness.

Yes, even success can be a danger when you don't have the Anchor Factor, since success more-often-than-not brings with it a sense of being superior and "above the process". The successful often tend to stop the very efforts that got them to where they are, only to lose it all and go back to zero.

Do you have an Anchor Factor? What's the 1 thing you could commit to doing on a daily basis regardless of what happens in your life? What would be the activity or activities that you'd be willing to do as a matter of principle for the rest of your life?

Find out your long-term major goals in all areas of life and you'll find your Anchor Factor there. It will be your battle ally that will never fail you. Those who carry an Anchor Factor will recover from any blow and every defeat and only come out stronger. They will not be tempted by success to become lazy and entitled.

Legends are born guided by the Anchor Factor.

What's yours?

This is similar to what us your motivation in life, well it depends on people for me money isn't my anchor but instead what I can do with that sort of cash is the main anchor in my life. I make sure to set up short term and long term goals around it in order to understand what I want most in life and then I work towards it. I agree that if you have an anchor factor you can recover from ground level and achieve whatever you want in life

i have a visual in my head of where i want to live ..and how i want to live ..how i want to eat ..how i want to make money from living that way ..

i know there is power in writing down goals.. but i think there is more power in being able to close your eye and vividly visualize and experience the thing you want ..even if it is years away ..

there are a lot of skill i need to pick up ..and even once i get the land and build my little home on it ..it is 3-5 years to get the land right to support me for a lifetime ..

might even put building a house off and just live in an rv and a yurt for a while .on the land

I agree that those who don't have any anchor factor eventually lost themselves and their lives. It is really a big deal to have an anchor factor in this chaotic world and then hold on to it.
By your this very post I surprisingly realized my anchor factor that it is spirituality and religious attachment too. I literally feel very depressed when i skip my prayers. I've experienced it so many times but as soon as I start offering my prayers daily my life gets smooth and tension free, I don't feel any anxiety and mentally disturbed situation. I don't know how but religious detachment makes your life miserable and I've seen it in many cases. When one is following the religious obligations he/she finds solace and serenity, their work is no burden to them and everything works by itself without them even knowing. But detachment does the opposite and makes people's live stressful instead. It is really very important to carry religion with your worldly life to maintain harmony in your atmosphere and balance it.
You are so right! It's a fact that those who lose their anchor factor will fall apart. One must need something to hold them to the ground and what's better than to have something which helps you to give the inspiration to go on with your life and hope for nothing but best in the future.

Yeah I came upon this concept while writing, didn't even realize I was using it for so long.
