Direct Relationship between Attitude & Level of Success

It's been a while since I've actually 'started' a thread here at the Warriors (besides wso's).. shame on me. I was thinking the other day I should.. to give back a little.

I thought this topic would be a great one as it touches something that is almost an undeniable truth and pulls from my experience as an IM/Biz coach.

It's something that I've focused on myself for years and have benefited from greatly..

There IS a Direct Relationship between Attitude and Success...

Some people poke fun at 'positive attitude' chat, but those same people couldn't deny it's true either if they saw it playing out daily like myself and others do. And if they focused on it themselves for a period of time would also reap the benefits.. but for some reason they are comfortable in their negativity. Some are..

I've coached a lot of people over the last 4 years or so online; through my memberships, products and one on one coaching... Search Marketing, Niche Marketing.. also in other areas of their business.

And I've found, through my experience as a coach, that attitude influences our results in very real ways. It influences the level of success one would achieve, if one reaches their potential and at one stage one would give up before they would be expected to find success...

I can't tell you how many I see give up WAY TOO EARLY in the game.. and sometimes it's largely due to attitude.

SIMPLE TRUTH >> If I see someone post something negative in a forum, for example.. I can almost immediately determine that person is going to have a harder time finding success in this business.

SIMPLE TRUTH >> On the other hand.. positive, excited individuals.. that dive in with energy, focus and commitment. That don't dwell on the negative, don't post negative comments, but ask questions and look for solutions.. figure it out themselves.. that don't pass the blame...

..Build relationships, help others.. (as it's a two way street.. you help others and it will come back to you and you'll get more help).. THOSE people I can say almost immediately.. they are going to be a BIG success in this business.

Maybe this is a worn out topic.. but it can't be said enough. Our attitudes shape our results and the level of success we achieve.

IT IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE THE #1 Factor I see at play for long term success..

So, just something to think on.. and keep in mind.

If you are being negative about every little thing.. maybe you have good reason. Maybe you've been scammed and life hasn't been fair.

Guess what? You aren't alone.. many of us have been scammed and have not had a fair life. But we picked ourselves up and focused on the positive.. and are better off for it. << SIMPLE TRUTH

Hope you found this helpful!

I'd like to figure out some details of this relationship.
Why is it, that people with a positive attitude are more successful? I could imagine any of the following reasons (or a combination of them):
    1. They give up later. (As you already stated.)
    2. Others perceive their positive attitude and are more likely to cooperate with them. (Could be related to body language for example.)
    3. Their positive attitude causes them to act in a certain way. For example, they might act faster or more accurately than other people.
    4. They don't waste their thoughts on negative feelings and the like. So they have more time to think about important subjects.

What do you think? Are these reasons sufficient to explain the relationship? Could there be another important reason I forgot? Or do you think that the reasons I named are irrelevant?

Hi Trey! You hit some important ones..

      WASTED TIME..

We've all heard time is money right? So it goes without saying the more time we spend on things that will produce more or better results, the better.

      So that's a slam dunk.

Now that's not to say you shouldn't think about and learn from negative that happen to us. You have to learn from failures; I think everyone knows that by now because everyone says it.

But learn and move on.. take action applying what you learned.

Don't wallow and get so upset about the situation you're entire business derails.. focus on the positive and take positive actions.

If something doesn't work the first time, you got a result. Tweak your system or learn it better.

      You mention OTHERS PERCEPTION...

How more likely are you and I going to help someone that's positive in nature? Quite more likely..

How more likely am I going to choose someone to partner with or do a JV with that's positive.

How more likely am I going to go the extra mile for a member, customer or client that treats me with respect and is positive? I'll help anyone, but..

And yes, they give up sooner than average.

To use PPC as an example.. there is probably more negativity associated in the short term because of lack of experience, knowledge and just the way the game plays out.

But if that person instead of dwelling on short term results kept going.. they would gain experience, they would learn and they would (because it's a numbers game) find success.. which breeds more success.

      So it all interlocks.

      What else might I add?

-- Over all health.. positive people can be healthier which breeds more energy which breeds more action..

-- And I sort of touched on this, but success breeds success.. if you can remain positive and push through which leads to success, that will actually improve your attitude which in turn breeds more action, more success and so on.

-- You'll think clearer and will in turn make better decisions. You'll have more focus and will better utilize resources as a result... seeing more results faster.

-- You'll have more friends which breeds better attitudes..

-- You'll have more enthusiasm and get more done as a result.. a negative person will struggle to get started working on their business every day. A positive person that loves what they do will not.

That's all off the top of my head.

Those things alone makes it worth while to work on I think... has for me.

I've had a recent realisation about positive thinking...

        What was the realisation?

Positive thinking and not thinking negative thoughts (different and related) improve our people skills. How? It boosts our confidence.

Confidence is vital when dealing with people, ESPECIALLY if you intend to persuade or gain status.

Great, now we should have named the main causes for success!

But there's one remaining point that still bothers me:

Could your positive attitude influence distant people and cause them to help you in any way?
(I recently read "The Science of Getting Rich" and the author would say so.)
I don't think that it's possible, but many people do believe in it I suppose.

I also believe there is a strong connection between ones attitude and there level of success.

As mentioned in previous posts, our attitude and demeanor can be noticeable to other people both online, and also in person. This impression that we give off can have a large impact on how others view us, and whether they would like to do business with us or not. You are less likely to attract positive entrepreneurial people, if you are giving off negative vibes in a forum, chatroom, and in person.

I agree. Attitude and determination will result in success. If you hang around ambitious people, their behaviors will rub off on you. If you hang around lazy and slothful people, it will affect you the same.

Exactly, people think the way they think for some reasons that we may not understand. I have some friends who makes negative thinking because of their past experiences. They were traumatized and can't dare to commit same mistake again. Some are also not the risk taker type.

How do react when you have a customer service issue with a business? You either act in a very negative way or positive way. If you decide you want to cuss out the people on the other line then your results will be minimal. When I act in a positive way I tend to get my issue resolved faster. The obvious thing is people shut down to what you are saying when you are negative. They would be more prone to help you when you are positive. You can still stand up for what you believe in a very positive. My grandma never uses foul language but she has the ability to tongue lash you to get her point across. You get better results by being positive over negative any day.

Its unfortunate, but even though someone has has bad experiences in their life, the reality is (taking into consideration the strength of those scars and psychological factors that are more difficult to overcome) that, for the average person, many times I think it's a choice and habit.

You can work on yourself just like you can physically and form new habits.. but you have to want to. And you have to consciously work on it.

There are a WHOLE LOT of people in the world that have been dealt bad hands.. but chose to focus on being positive. Even in the face of death.

But some still choose to be negative; putting barriers up and shutting out the very idea of positivity. Again, it's a choice and they form their own reality; albeit it negative.

I also don't think you have to be positive 100% of the time, btw, lol.. I don't think that's possible for anyone. But one should try in at least the most impacting situations.

Are you talking about people you're communicating with like us or people you've *never* made contact with?

People you've never made contact with. So basically I'm talking about some kind of soul connection.

    Interesting question.

Life is really weird and from what I've read/heard about about quantum physics it *may* be possible.

As far as using it as part of our mental model of the world 'locus of control' is more important, figure out what we have control over and act on that. And since we can't directly control an unknown person helping us at an unknown time it may not be the best tool for success.

What's bothering you is probably cognitive dissonance.
