What are some epic TED Talks that you've watched that you feel have given you a new perspective or some advice that you've implemented and found success with?

A couple of examples of what I'm asking for is:

Kevin Kelly: (new perspective)

Dan Cobley:

Looking for some audio that's great for background listening at work. Dan Cobley's for sure is enlightening, Kevin Kelly is an acquired taste I've found (some like it, some don't).

It's not straight related to marketing or business but it's related to a deeper level of success and invention that you can apply in the business world too. It's amazing!

Rodney Mullen: Pop an ollie and innovate! (TED Talk) - YouTube
I must have missed something, he just seemed to crap on for about 17 minutes, about skateboards.

About the only really clever thing he mentioned was, taking something and making it do something it wasn't intended for, or better.

I did that recently, and it will bring in the bucks soon.

But yeah, he did go on a bit, seems that he is more successful crapping on forever and giving one good idea.

But at least he said something profound, certainly better than other gurus, who crap on forever and virtually give out nothing.

I liked the one relating to creativity. By getting a few hours of watching their creative talks, you'll understand how to put your creative mind to the test.

Watching Ted Talks have made me very useful in creativity to the point that it almost comes out naturally.

  • Sir Ken Robinson's Ted Talk about schools and creativity changed me. It helped me understand my daughter better. It also helped me deal with issues I had about learning in general. I had good grades in school but I didn't really 'learn' anything. It's only now that I started to enjoy learning and celebrate my creativity.

I like Bill Gross' talk about how timing can lead to success (The single biggest reason why startups succeed).

It may not be mind-blowing but this stuck on my head when I first watched it. It makes you observe how companies just conveniently pop out and make money fast.

Looked at Kevin Kelly, and let's just say people who go to academic lectures, tend to fall to sleep.

Broad generalizations that don't help much, unless you want a career in biology?

Also had a look at the Mel Robbins one, and apart from saying get into action, not much else.

Newbies might get something from this, but more seasoned marketers....

Yeah I just found a new perspective from the Kevin Kelly one (doesn't help that I read his book 'The Inevtiable'.. whole 'nother shitstorm of pretty suggestive predictions in there). Easiest way put: made me think hahahahahaha

Haven't seen the Mel Robbins one, will have to check it out tomorrow.
