Focus On Opportunity Not Positivity

Often, I hear and read about how necessary it is to "focus on the positive" or "find the good" in every situation. This sounds nice and fills us up with warm, fuzzy feelings. However, it can be improved. "Focusing on the positive" and "finding the good" are limited because they are static. They don't guarantee improvement, achievement, or value creation. As we improve, it's not enough to "be positive" or "find the good". We must consciously and dynamically seek actionable opportunity. Throw in a big helping of discipline and we're all set.

The goal is to use "the good" and "the positive" as a foundation while upgrading our mindset to an "opportunity" outlook. In other words, the goal is to pre-program ourselves to seek actionable opportunity that helps achieve our life goals. Approaching situations pre-programmed to seek opportunity means we arrive with an dynamic mindset ready to jump in and get something done.

One helpful tool to upgrade our mindset is to consistently ask, "What is the opportunity here?" In all situations, positive and negative, opportunity always exists. The challenge is whether or not we're able to recognize opportunity and act. We become more effective in achieving our goals if we train and pre-program ourselves to seek opportunity in all situations; especially in moments of frustration, depression, anger, fear, and confusion.

We can be positive all day long but if there's no accompanying action which improves our lives, then what's the point? Be bold. Let's upgrade our game. Recognize "the positive" and "the good" but go further. Focus on actionable opportunity.

Your thoughts are welcome.

    ACTIONABLE opportunities.

There is an abundance of opportunities around.

    Taking action is the key.

Staying focus with it is even more important because there are just too many distractions (more opportunities)

Right. Action is what makes stuff happen. For example, being positive about setting a fire is a useful step. Getting a match or other lighter and material to burn is also useful. Action is necessary to go from all that to setting a fire in blaze. Much of the rest is the mindset that's also necessary so that the action you take is the right fit for you here and now.

sometimes, focusing on opportunities leads to positivity and vice versa. It wont matter if you don't back it up with the right action in the end

Okay, so how do we "Pre-Program" ourselves? Are we already
pre-programmed, or do our parents and peers program us
as we grow up (sounds like another thread to me)?

    and,

    What is actionable opportunity?

I met this girl once who offered me and "Actionable Opportunity".

I was walking to my car once and these two guys were walking by.
One of them walked up to me and took the actionable opportunity
to say to me "I'm going to kill you". I asked him for directions. (true story).

I do not agree that there is opportunity in everything, just
    ask anyone on death row.

To say that we need to constantly be on the lookout for opportunity
is probably what most people are doing every day of their life.
    The difficulties are many.

    > Recognizing an opportunity
    - My grand father could have bought Pepsi-Cola stock for 25 cents a share.
    He didn't.

    > Knowing an opportunity, but NOT knowing how to implement it.
    - Ask any would be IM'er.

    > Many opportunities (not all) cost money.
    - Many people don't have the money to see opportunity happen.

    > How many opportunities are thwarted by a family member?
    - Did I mention the girl that offered me an "Actionable Opportunity"?
    Well, I was married!

The fact is, opportunities exist in may different forms. Some people
are better at seeing them than are others.

    Also,

Some people are better at actually doing something to create
    the opportunities than others.

Then there are those lucky few who are born into wealth
and could care less about any of this, because they were
    born into opportunity.

Oh, well. If they don't care, then why should I.

I will not take my Actionable Opportunity and do some
work that will impact my life in a positive way.

Not exactly sure what that is just yet, but I'm sure that if
I look hard enough it will come to me. RIGHT!

True, but l would change your sig, link to "Turn Sense into Dollars" for starters.

But true we have all been brainwashed since birth, to get a good education and work hard for 35-40 years in a stupid job, then blow the 401 and end up broke and dying at 80.

And fill in our remaining years going overseas, and to weddings, as well as stare aimlessly into a so called smart phone, to learn new life changing information like, what are the football scores, or how many whiskers does my cat have on FB.

I don't follow the herd, which probably explains why l will be in the top income level in the next few years, working on my laptop from anywhere l like.

Not exactly sure what that is just yet, but I'm sure that if

Possibly, but for me, l was at a low point, only seeing a 10 year hard slog to make 1k a month, then only after a hard look at my situation, found a life changing opportunity.

Staring into the abyss can be heart wrenching, but can also offer the greatest opportunities in life.

When you are at your lowest point since what you are doing isn't working or is not fast enough, ignore the inept and weak minded, since you will leave them in the dust if you keep trying and looking.

there is plenty of opportunity out there ..most just do not really fit us .. one of the traits that i have been hearing more and more about . that successful people have . is they screen out alot of the junk opportunities then when they eye opportunities that suit them ..it is more like fire ready aim .. they will jump on the opportunity , then figure out what the f*** they are doing , then look at the data to see if it is really worth doing and either drop it or make it better .

As my spiritual development bring me closer to enlightenment without the prospect of becoming a pillow sitting crystal licker ..i am finding less of a need to classify thing as positive or negative or good and bad ..

Is it negative thinking to look at the way you are eating and observe the long term negative outcomes of people who eat that way for a lifetime ..high fructose corn syrop give me migraines and with the right conditioons of flickering light mild seizures ..and i discovered that at a time i ran out of money so when i had money i would buy soda or cola . or pop whatevery you want to call it and i would get nasty headaches .. and when i didn't have money and didn't buy soda headachs would go away ..took a few times for me to get it .. and even now when i have a soda next day is like i have a worse hangover than drinking a gallon and a half of beer and several shots of vodka .. well now that i stopped drinking it a hundred ounces of beer ..

anyway so i stop drinking any soda and for a while switched to artifial sweetener stuff and gain 30 pounds over the next year .....

The things we see as begative in our lives .. are there for us to fix and change as opportunities to make our lives better .

all the science about what is good or bad to eat .. that has come out in the last 50 years is about to be tossed out even if most people ignore it any way .. what is being found out is that you can feed white rice , potatoes , pasta, meat, fish , chicken fruits .. beans .. if you feed 100 different people these food and constantly monitor there glysimic response no two people will have the same response to all foods .

so to breakdown the message .. fixing the problems in your life .. are quite honestly the most low hanging fruit when it comes to actionable opportunities ..in my life the law of attraction no longer allows me to walk around with splinter in my ass ..looking for external or exostential ways of ignoring ,, numbing , transcending , or drugging away the suffering the splinters cause .. instead spinter by splinter each one gets poked at untill i pull it out and let the healing begin .. it has been a realitivly brutal process the last year and a half .

anyway fixing the problems you currently have .. and honestly drawing out where the thing you are doing now will have you end up in 5,10 or 20 years .. and if you don't like it.. take the actions to change it today.

in the another thread tag and i where going on about the powers that be ..or those who supposedly control the world ..the problem is they don't really have to controll the world .. they have 50, 100, 200 year plans and 90 percent of humanity is living day to day season to season ..so it easy for those with long term plans to build a framework of society around the population .. that gets the masses to do thing that benifit those with long term plans ..

you have been conditioned from an early age and that conditioning has been refined over the past 800 years ..to get you to fall in line and be a good worker bee / slave ..and that it is selfish to fix that which causes your suffering ..back when the privileged needed thoudands of peasents/serfs to support their lavish lifestyles .. it was a good idea for them to plant all kinds of negative concepts about the wealthy in the heads of the working bees to keep them in their place ..

so your best actionable opportunties . lie in solving your own problems then at some point you solve a problem for yourself that a large chunk of other people have and you might have a product or service you can develop around that .

Yep been doing that for the last 9 years, trying out everything til l find something that suits my skills, and risk factor.

I could have done PPC, phew a few years ago, but the high cost or risk, put me off that one, as well as the only way l saw forward was creating a product that sold well from scratch and hoping that affiliates would get around the barrier of limited sales from Adwords.

But l did try that with some software, and it worked, but not well enough, for the effort involved.

Also true with the conditioning, which explains the braindead responces to clear cut issues.

It is getting so bad that unless Mass Media tell us 2+2=4, no one will believe it.

Mass Media tell us that 2+2=7, in practically every area, and from what l have seen elsewhere, some will get angry if questioned.

Some want to feel safe at any cost, at least til 2+2=7 starts to look iffy, then they try even harder to believe in it.

Gov, corporations and individuals have turned lying into an artform, but even hanging out dirty clothes, with fresh paint won't work forever.

Maybe the meek will inherit the Earth, the stupid certainly won't.

Welcome to the age of Aquarius, kicking and screaming, lol.

the meek will inherit the earth..well what is left after the people with all the money fly off in spaceships .. haha kidding

because i studied marketing which has been way more powerfull for conditioning in the last hundred years ..than the systems that had developed slowly over 6000 years .. i saw through a bunch of the funky stuff in the conspiracy world .. i personally believe most of the high profile talking heads are being fed different information by the supposed insiders ..

a huge chunk of the conditioning or the critical factor that many fall into and leads them to personal doom and despair .. is is that the conditioning seems to have a self destruct function once someone realizes they are conditioned .. as there seems to be a need to fight the system and the supposed controllers .. because they have little to no idea how to undo the conditioning .

the mass media is dieing ..right now thing are polarized or splintered you have one minority group who will believe what one side on the media says and another disbelieve ..the the majority in between are smacking their forheads sick of the garbage ..at this point what is being believed is that nasty things the media on one person side of thing is saying about the other side ..

because we are at the end of the industrial age and sliding into te age of the craftsman/artist pretty much all the condition people have is broken..

now there are probably many opportunities if one can drop a trail of breadcrumb for those straying from the conditioning ..

Very good words...now to add my two cents, maybe three.

I think the phrase "find the positive" is just a part of the message, usually. It often comes with words describing how you need to do more, but that's one of the building blocks.

Personally, I think it won't matter if you try to find the positive or the opportunity, if you're not looking for your calling/passion/purpose (unless you've already found it) in life. If you're just chasing opportunity to chase opportunity, it's just as empty as finding the positive just to be positive.

True happiness and joy come from working at something you're meant to do and you love doing that helps others in one way or another. Finding the positive and opportunity in your calling/passion/purpose will give you exactly what you're seeking, while finding the positive and opportunity in something just for money, fame or another of the many strong reasons will just lead to more despair.
