Something You Can Always Control ...

(... No Matter What's
Happening)

Have you heard of Viktor E. Frankl? He was a Holocaust
survivor and the Author of the best-selling book "Man's Search
For Meaning."

Viktor believed -- and understood -- that even during the most
challenging of circumstances Life still has meaning and
suffering has a purpose. And I can tell you from my experience
with Social Anxiety, Depression, and Schizophrenia that is
absolutely true ... As I once said: "The more you suffer, the
deeper grows your Character, and the more loving and
compassionate you become ..."

No matter what you're going through and no
matter how difficult the circumstances -- there
is something that you can always control:

Your attitude/mindset.

As Viktor once famously said:

"Everything can be taken from a Man but one thing: the last of
the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given
set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."

My most recent experience in Hospital reflects that sentiment:
Although I was going through a very confusing and fearful
experience I decided to focus on all the positive insights I have
learned while dealing with my illness and began working on the
content for a Webpage titled: HopeAndAdvice.com [not online
yet].

Essentially it's 11 tips and quotations containing everything I
have learned. One of my favourites would have to be Tip #2:

"Even if it seems like the whole World is
against you, hold on to the love that's in your
Heart and you will succeed ..."

I couldn't control what was happening to me, however I could
control my response to what was happening. And that's one of
the most important lessons I could ever share with you.
#control

I had a humbling experience recently that reminded me that I'm not all that in control of Life -- That God truly is. It reminds me of the quotation I read: When God is all you have, that's all you need.

Would love to be strong for you Guys however many times I'm not.

    Interesting post.

The most important thing in life is right thinking. Which is what he's saying in your favorite point of his.

Some would say the most important thing in life is money, family or even life itself.

    No, it's not.

You can be happy or unhappy being rich or poor.

Love some of your family members and despise others.

Love life or want to commit suicide.

It's not love, money or life, but, your relationship with and attitude towards them that is most important.

Absolutely. I agree 100%. You can have all the money in the World and all the success in in The World and all ________. However if you don't have "Peace." then all those things really don't matter.

      Thanks Enfusia.

Thought I would add of book recommendation to this thread. (If you found it kind of helpful and/or interesting I think you will like it ...)

Titled "The Little Book Of Peace" (that my Brother Dennis gave me) it's all about cultivating Peace in our daily Lives ... (And, maybe, our Community/World.) Although I won't go into it there's a simple quotation in that book that I found really liberating regarding a "problem" I've been having.

Check it out on Amazon.com: It's a quick/easy read and very empowering.

Hi Jonathan I love your resilience and your ability to not only overcome challenges and adversity but turn them into something positive, and in a way that helps others. And of course this evidently comes from your positive attitude.

I've also struggled with anxiety and depression and I also found the strength to overcome them by becoming aware of the fact that I have control over what I think and how I react to a situation.

It's not easy, reprogramming a mind of negativity, but with consistent effort it's possible to change your thoughts and attitude and in the process create much more fulfilling life.

Good luck with your blog, it sounds like you have a lot of helpful content to share. Let us know when it's up and running!

Thanks Dennielle. Much appreciated. : )

I'm hoping the Webpage will eventually go viral ... We'll see what happens. Although it's kind of cliché if I could help just one Person it will all be worth it.

      Cheers,
      Jonathan
