I'm curious to see what self help resource has had the most effect on you. What would you recommend for your fellow warriors to read? I read Paul Hanna's Believe and Acheive at a critical point in my life, and it helped me a great deal. I'm going to go back and reread it again, so that I can apply it to current circumstances and just to rediscover what affected me in such a way before. What self help book impacted your life?

The thing about many great books out there is that any single one of them can be a massive impact or the change in your life, but its not the book that changes you -- its you. You finally make the decision mentally, emotionally, spiritually, subconciously even,to change. It just so happens that at the moment you were reading whatever book, listening to any tape, talking to a mentor, etc that something "clicks"

You finally NEED to be more then you are, the tools in front of your are just a tool in the right place at the right time .

I agree, a book can help you make a revelation but without action, relevation is meaningless. Instead of finding that perfect book that will change you, perhaps you should try defining who you want to be and then just take action to strive to be that person. Everything you do, say, and think should be towards that person you are striving to become.

with that said, reading inspirational books is awesome

  • I agree with what you are saying here, the fact is that unless you are ready to hear something and understand it, it will be meaingless to you- you can read it and it just doesn't click. With that said, I was just interested to see what has had an impact on other people.

I have lived what can only be described as an interesting life. It has not been the nicest in a lot of ways, however I know that I would not be the person I am now without the things that have happened to me. I have wisdom and experience that cannot be taught, it can only be learnt. I used to have low esteem and not to think that I deserved good things and I used to live in fear of what tomorrow would bring. However I worked on myself and my problems, and it took time, and I now realise just how powerful a person I am. I am intelligent, compassionate, tolerant and highly capable of amazing things.

I am not looking for self help in order to change myself- I want to expand my learning. I think that we can all learn a lot from each other, and sometimes another person's perspective can make you think of something in a new and interesting way.

My own personal belief is that life is about learning. I think that we should never ever say that we know it all, that we are fine the way we are. There is always more to learn, and I never want to stop learning.

The best thing that could help my self is to know what i really want in life then make an action, but before that you must trust your self first to have the courage in doing what you want.

I think Tony Robbins would help you but you would also have to take action.

    Hello, Paris:

I have a list of self-help, motivational books, videos and CDs, but one of my favourites and the one that got me truly focused on development is the book (and audio program - I have both!), Earl Nightingale's Greatest Discovery.

I am also a HUGE Brian Tracy fan. I have a number of his audio programs and other materials. In fact, because I am such a fan, I've begun to market Brian's products on my StarrBizz.com website. I've written homepage articles as well as blogs about some of his programs.

Perhaps my favourite Brian Tracy program is the Universal Laws of Success and Achievement. I bought this program years ago and still refer to it regularly. You can read more about it in my web biz blog post, Brian Tracy Wants You..., if you want.

Best self help for me is when we came to realize the wrong things we've done. I believe that it is a must that we analyze who we are. We need to check every aspects of our lives especially the ones we need to change. The moment we knew what's wrong with us, it will be a bit easy to change our lives and develop it.

Book are good for reminders, but it does not trigger us to take action.

Another thing is that, in terms of self help, I recommend that you think of 1 to 3 person whom you admire most. Probably they are achievers, intelligent, highly motivated, good attitude etc.. Then don't just check their life but get the most lessons out of them. If you can interview them, better!

For me, personal encounters and interviews is much helpful than just reading :-)

I can't recommend personal development and meditation enough. I used have depressively low self esteem and anorexia and I healed them both myself through personal development, spirituality and meditation. I'm the happiest I've ever been and I'm back to healthy. It's amazing what personal development does for you in every aspect of your life; physical, psychological, spiritual, professionally, in your relationships, and your general happiness and fulfillment in life. It's all a choice which must be worked on everyday. Here are some books I highly recommend which helped me immesurably:

Think and grow rich- Napoleon Hill
feel the fear and do it anyway- Susan Jeffers
The power of your subconscious mind- Joseph Murphy
Ask and it is given- Esther and Jerry Hicks
    The alchemist- Paulo Coelho
    unlimited power- Anthony Robbins
    Trust your vibes- Sonia Choquette
The science of getting rich- Wallace wattles
    Having it all- John Assaraf
Conversations with God- Neale Donald Walsch
    The big moo- Seth Godin
Rich Dad poor dad- Robert Kiyosaki
The way to the top- Donald Trump
The power of the Kaballah- Yehuda Berg
    True prosperity- Yehuda Berg
    Having it all- John Assaraf
    The Answer- John Assaraf
    Anything by Wayne Dyer
    The slight edge- Jeff Olsen
Anything and everything by Anthony Robbins
    the secret

    Self hypnosis by Glenn Harold

Search for specific things you want to improve, but read lots and listen to audio books lots.
I've done lots of videos on this type of thing, you're welcome to see my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/reach4prosperity.com

Or I've also got articles on it on my blog:

I highly recommend Morning Messages Watch the video on the front page and then subscribe. It is free. They will send you a message every 3 days that takes just 5 minutes to read. I have read a lot of stuff for over 10 years now. They are very good however Morning Messages has transformed my life! Many warriors I have shared this with are now loving it. This will awaken you and give you the confidence to create what you want.
