How does giving and marketing coincide

If you want to be successful and have and have longevity in this game you need to understand the value of giving .

Far too often I see marketers overlooking the basic concepts of marketing . The basic concepts of marketing are simple, in fact they are so simple yet they get overlooked.

The key to drive the sales belt is giving . Remember that you are dealing with human beings online so therefore you must build up a solid relationship and nurture it.

The way in which you build up a solid relationship is to provide solutions to the problems that people are having in the market place . The point that I am driving home is that If you don't give you are highly unlikely to receive .

When you take the time out to address the issues of prospects and consumers you are making an investment that pays off in the long run over and over because you are building a good reputation.

It does not qualify as charitable giving . If your goal is to put value out their in order to later capture some of that and put it in a bank account ..

if you can put something of value in a form you can deliver to a 100 a 1000 10000 or more ..or put it in a place where it can be seen over and over again.. with little or no cost to you ..with the intent of converting some of those people into paying customers .

THen the quality of what you put out matters .. and the skill in grabbing attention .

the game has changed ..if you give out crap.. no one will give a crap about what you give

    Good discussion.

Giving is good but it doesn't necessarily have to mean that you need to give away your whole product for free (it ain't a business if you're giving away stuff for free).

Striking the balance between giving value and not attracting freebie -seekers is the key here (in my humble opinion).

It isn't just handing over random stuff and hoping that creates goodwill. I shiver when I see people asking what free pdfs and the like they can give away. How's it connected to what YOU'RE doing? What you want to be known for?

See, when you give in marketing intelligently, you're entering the conversation in your prospect's mind. You're getting private, 1-on-1 time with them...and you do not have to personally be present!

This highlights the unfocused nature of people new to online marketing: thinking "everyone" is a potential customer. No. Most are not. You have a target market. You have an ideal customer. You have an avatar. Whether you acknowledge this or not, it exists.

If you sort by that avatar, and enter the conversation your perfect buyer is already having, then your marketing gift makes a whole lot of sense, doesn't it?

Then your gift is not a mere throwaway. It is the foundation of trust, differentiation, the understanding that you know their problem well and have an effective solution. And THAT is what leads to buyers buying.

this is very much true ..and getting more true as the cost of contact with customers drops .

I like the Joel salatin rule ..it cost less and requires less infrastructure to sell $1,000 in merchandise to 100 people in a year.. than it cost to sell $100 to 1000 people in a year .

we live in a world where it is getting harder and harder to hide secrets ..so you have to learn to put nearly all of yourself into your avatar as possible ..in a world with 7. billion people and 3 billion online with 7 plus billion going to be online in 5 years .

and the biggest "cost" is getting giving stuff of value to get enough attention over time to make sales .

blahh i listen to gary vee and others much better at describing this concept ..

My goal is to establish myself as a trusted reliable source of information .And no,Not everyone is a "potential customer " . If You try to market to everybody you market to nobody.

moreover there has to be a mutual exchange between myself and the prospect .It is very rare to convert a sale the first time around ,so trust has to be built. Me as the marketer must demonstrate that I can deliver value consistently. I must interact and involve my prospects, customers while building trust to make the sale.

So a good way to get your customers and potential customers involved is by hosting quizzes ,sweep stakes ,polls and giveaways to increase engagement. People love to buy but we must remember that they are human and we must nurture the relationship.

Your prospect must always get some form of value . There are different concepts and ideals on this topic . I see a change taking place in the market where we have to earn our right to sell our products to customers

  • Spot on.

I think people with money and time will understand this more than those that are broke or need money asap. It is hard to think this way when you're in that position.

I think hearing it when your first starting out will make a big difference on your business launch rather than launching without this knowledge. You'll end up quitting because the crappy content your dishing out isn't acquiring the results you're looking for.

    Great post.
