Product Marketing Qualifications?... Any suggestions?

Hi all,

My marketing role has recently changed into a Product Marketing function... does anyone have any experience with product marketing specific qualifications? Providers, feedback, etc.

I have a marketing qualification through the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), but I'm interested in other qualifying bodies.

Thanks,

Ryan

Established product? New? Concept? Where the product is at in the chain, or flow chart will help you determine the kind of marketing you would consider.

So, say it is a new product seen as a Direct Response type product, then you would look to those bodies who deal with and specialize in products marketed by direct response.

But maybe the product is a licensed product, to match the latest Blockbuster movie coming out, so your expertise or "best practices" would be found in the licensening industry.

Maybe it is an old product which has been updated, so the market might be past users, and you can reach them through their warranty cards. See, different marketing straetgies for different types of products.

Depends what credentials you are after. Most of these different kind of marketing bodies, as you call them have associations and each offer their own "qualitfications" and certificates indicating your qualification.

http://bit.ly/2d3qCz4 This is for certifications in the DMA

Education | LIMA Licensing For licensing.

So, it depends on your goals, if you are going to specialize, be an in house marketer, a Freelance marketing guy, a consultant, or whatever you choose to do you will find associations of all of these which offer continuing education and certifications.

    Good luck, hope this helps.
