Overcoming Your Fear(s) ...

We all have to deal with fear (especially as
Entrepreneurs/Marketers) ... However the fear you
experience cannot stop you from becoming
successful or achieving your goal(s). As Bruce
Lee (and Susan Jeffers) famously said:

"Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway!"

Personally something I'm somewhat anxious about
is integrating Facebook and Twitter with my
(Personal Development) Website. However I know
that whatever happens I will deal with it. (And that
the vast majority of our fear(s) never actually happen
... They're just in our mind.)

Quick Tip:

Something you may find helpful is to open up
Notepad and title it something like: "My Internet
Marketing Fears." Then actually type anything and
everything you're anxious about. Why? Because this
puts everything into perspective and makes it easier
to overcome them ...

As Bob Parsons (CEO GoDaddy.com) said: "Very
seldom will the worst consequence be anywhere near
as bad as a cloud of "undefined consequences."

Something else you may find helpful is to remember
that:

"Every fear is an opportunity to be
courageous!"

Because "courage" means being afraid of something
― and doing it anyway. This can be very empowering.
As Eleanor Roosevelt said: "You gain strength,
courage, and confidence by every experience in
which you really stop to look fear in the face."

So remember then, no matter what happens you can
overcome all fears and be successful ... (In Business
and in Life.)

Jonathan

If anyone has any more advice (etc.) please contribute.

Something I always like to repeat to myself when stepping out of my comfort zone, or having my heart beat like a death metal drummer while trying something new is, "Complacency lies in comfort".

It really depends on your lifestyle. If it's riddled with fear
you will unconsciously fall flat on your knees. Certainly
it takes a good deal of programming to develop such
a mindset that is free from fear.

I recommend besides fine tuning your mind to bitch-slap
yourself for not taking action and do it with zeal. If you
can play back the tape why sweat about it? I mean
technology offers you a plethora of options to open
the mind and become a receiver of this voluminous
energy that makes you feel like walking an inch above
    the ground.

Speaking of which, the tendency to excel must overshadow
fear that belittles you and makes you want to throw in the towel.

And with that being said, go back in your cave and moan
or welcome the possibilities of your higher self and what
the mind has to offer. Evolve or perish, no excuses.

Cut the slack off, it's that str8fwd and welcome change.

fear itself is not bad..but most people fear the wrong things..

one marketer i listen to who has his house and car paid for under his business name ..still fears losing everything and ending up under a bridge ..

Claude said something similar in one post..that most rich people he knows fear being poor ..

the fears you need to work on ..are the ones that keep you from advancing forward in your life ..and prevent you from doing what part of you want to do .

My theory is that all fears are irrational. Even the fear of death.

You can overcome your fear..if you feel enough hate.

Odahh; I didn't say I feared being poor. I said I hated being poor.

      Fear is passive....Hate is active.

I used to be deathly afraid of heights. So afraid that I felt a real force pulling me to the edge, "wanting " me to fall off a roof or a ledge. I was maybe 10 years old.

I was afraid of falling. But I hated being afraid of falling, more than I feared falling. So i forced myself to stand on the ledge, on the roof, on the cliff. Eventually, I burned that fear out of me.

I used to be afraid of lightning. as a kid, it frightened me to death. But I hated being afraid...how it made me feel. So I would stand in front of the big bay windows of our home when there was a real thunderstorm. I forced myself to sand there...and the fear left.

Hate, disgust, contempt....can all overcome fear. I mean really get rid of it.

      Now...who wants cake?

Just as long as you don't stand under a tree during one, we had a couple, (one worked in a real estate office, not far from me) who did a few months ago.

One got struck directly and several heart attacks later died in hospital the man also got hit but suffered burns to his legs and survived.

This was a young, obviously very stupid couple, that were a few metres from their car.

Ridding fear is fine, but being stupid about it isn't.

interest that the news story call it a freek strike.. but it does seem not like a good idea to watch a lightning storm from the highest point in an area ..with no lightning grounded roof over the head ..

now on a personal future fear..that is a very probable prospect in the case ui produce a couple children ..is that my kids will be able to go back an look at much of what i have written online over the past 20 years ...and have a good idea what i was doing ..thats 20-25 years down the future though

            Fair enough. Thanks Cluade.

I could be wrong however I think taking a positive approach to learning can be very empowering ... Rather than being motivated by the "negative" aspects of being successful.

Hating weakness (or fear, or being poor) is simply one way. It's just my way. Everyone has a different makeup.

Definitely. : ) And that's one of the greatest things about Life:

Everyone has a different perspective. There's no "right" or "wrong." (The World would be a very boring place if we all thought the same.)

i been sick as hell for a week ..unable to focus on much for long ..success at this point .well depends on if i can nail down where i want to live and build my life ..instead of being where i either feel stuck stranded or passing through ..

I'm almost 40.. and the self is really just emerging ..there is no giving up..there is doing better living the next 20 ,40 80 years ..a the last 40 has not just been lived sub optimal ..the conditions i was in where pretty much opposite of what i needed to be in to be healthly or function at optimal levels ..

again there is no giving up ..i think i am just trying to figure out who i will be when i live in my optimal conditions ..but the catapiler can't know what it is to be a butterfly

These are inward directed. I don't mean feeling hate toward someone else.

If you have a compulsion that's contemptible (in your own mind), you just need to hate the compulsion more than you need to give in to it.

Personally, I have felt contempt for others, but it's not this outward contempt that is useful.

When I pushed it inward, it became my contempt for these qualities that I didn't want in myself.

This isn't really something I recommend to others. It's just what I have experienced myself.

There is nothing courageous, brave, moral, or admirable about any of this. We can't help how we feel.

I've wrestled with the idea that love can be just as potent a force for change. But I haven't experienced that myself. And anger isn't the same thing as hatred. Anger confuses the mind...causes irrational violence...hatred focuses the mind.

The problem with fear is that it stops everything. You freeze. It can be crippling. You are always the victim of fear.

But hatred...real deep down revulsion....speeds up everything. It empowers you. It's active. You just can't let it show..or become violent.

Think of it this way. A poisonous snake is slithering toward you...and you know it's going to strike you.

What purpose does fear have? It' your enemy (I mean fear is your enemy)...all you mental signals are getting crossed...you are frozen...fear of that snake is going to get you killed...

But...if you hated the snake. Think about that. Feel real hatred for that snake. Now you're an active participant. Now you are the threat. And hating something (even if it's your own fear) will cause your entire being to attack that problem.

i understand your point ..snakes have always been a real threat to humans .. spiders as well .. the fear is justified when you see one coming at you ..

the problem is putting everything on the level of a snake about to bite you ..or having a few bees fly around you that are africanized ..

the problem comes or fear becomes irrational..when minor events that are most likely not harmful..create the same reaction as a snake that looks like it will attack . but in our modern world what is meant as a short term few minutes or hours of response..gets stretched out for longer and our minds simulate all kinds of bad things as a result of doing something we might fear .

but modern human fear the wrong things and overblow the possible negatives .

It is fine to judge people to the point of deciding if you want them around you or not..and i think you reaction of turning hatred of a trait in other inward to that trait in yourself is very advanced .and when done correctly it is positve.. where as many have the hate anyway and turn it to self abuse

And I think you pointed to a main problem. People thinking about themselves..

      When I say I hate a character trait that I have..or a fear that I have...it never means that I hate myself.

The concepts of loving yourself or hating yourself are completely alien to me. Not sure why.

To me, people that abuse themselves or are withdrawn in fear are thinking entirely about themselves and how they feel. They are self absorbed.

And there is a difference between being self aware (introspective), and self absorbed.

      Interesting talk.

i will be very careful how i say this ..with the self absorbed/self destructive people i have met ..a common trait is they will try and fix the people around them or surround themselves with other damaged people they can try to fix .. while ignoring doing what they need to do to fix their own lives ..

with self awareness you can accept that the life you are living is messed up .but you have the power and authority to make changes or drastic changes to improve your life.

getting back to fear ..it is often not our own fears that we must work the hardest to overcome ..it those of the people around us who both fear what will happen to you if you fail and how it might effect them.. and fear that your success may rock the boat and show them to be lacking ..

so when you are dealing with other people fears ..for you ..depends how close you are to them.

being consumed by any one emotional state for to long is negative ..there are overly positive people who are just naive and clueless ..

we would not have these emotions if they did not serve some purpose when employed properly...fear disgust hate, anger ..many other so called negative emotions and thoughts ..they are parts of self expression ..that need to be integrated and mastered..not oppressed and denied ..

you have fears sometimes the fears are good and tell you what to prepare for . many time they are just relics of past experience and need to be worked through ..because they are based in obsolete inputs
