"Hard" Versus "Highly Uncomfortable" and Making Money Online
22 years ago I could bench press 330 pounds.
I was heavily into bodybuilding and weight lifting.
But I have not touched a weight in 10 years.
If you asked me to bench press 330 pounds now the experience would be incredibly "hard" because of the physically of the experience.
In reverse, 22 years ago I huffed and puffed while walking up a flight of stairs. I was a bloated pig, 210 pounds of pudge, strong as an ox but with similar cardio.
Yet a few months ago I could run 13 miles while nose breathing. I pulled back from running during travels but could do 8 miles now - nose-breathing - no sweat, being 165 pounds of lean, mean, running and yoga trained machine. Again, this is all physical, formerly hard, now easy. But it is solely on a physiological plane. About da body.
If I told you to whip out your credit card to buy your domain and hosting, to lay the proper foundation for a successful blog, most folks would say that doing so is "hard" but from a physiological perspective, almost all of us have been blessed with hands, eyes and a few hundred dollars worth of credit, so physio-wise, it is quite easy.
BUT.....the process is "highly uncomfortable" for most Warriors who *fear* spending money, patiently building a profitable blog on a rock solid foundation and delaying their gratification for months or year.
Ditto for all folks who want to MMO who say it's hard or incredibly difficult to learn the skill of MMO, to create helpful content and to build bonds by promoting top folks in your niche without looking for anything in return. Nope; not hard at all. Physically, most of us can do this stuff easily.....but doing these things over years without obsessing over results is highly uncomfortable.
When you begin to think through the difference between "hard aka physiogically impossible" and "highly uncomfortable aka scary but quite do-able" it gets easier and easier to make uncomfortable but freeing, success-promoting decisions. Like slowly visualizing a climb up Mount Everest, to a climb up a tiny little hill, the visualizing process may take years, then months, then weeks, then days, but you begin to make a clear distinction between what is genuinely impossible right now and what is probable, and in fact, a certainty, when you develop the skill of doing freeing, success-promoting, highly uncomfortable things habitually.
