Lost all will to work ? What is happening to me ?

I have been working on websites for the last 6 years, I have usually worked 12 hours a day for the last 5 years. Last year I sold my star site for a very good sum of money, After that I launched around another 6 sites, one of them is doing very good.

In total I have aruond 40 sites, most of which do not make any money - only around three make the most of money.

Now I am in a phase where I sit down in front of my computer and I lost all motivation and will to work, to reply to emails, to think of new sites.

My income is 100% adsense and I have been trying to research CPA etc but I have "webmasters block". This has been going on for a good 3 months now.

Have you ever been there, What did you do to get out ?

I'll get the ball rolling... although I'm no expert on these sorts of things!

I'd say you need to take a break, take some time out, and consider your short term goals. To me, it sounds as if you've done really well by making web sites and selling some of them for good money - so perhaps it's a good time to step back and evaluate your goals and see where you want to head to next.

Certainly looking into other areas of Internet Marketing / web development might also spark your interest again and motivate you.

I'd say you certainly need to take some time off, have a change of scene - travel a bit if you can afford it, and if you can't, do something completely new. Get away from that everlasting screen, out into nature. And indeed think about your goals, long and short-term. You might come up with some completely new ones that give you the feeling of creative energy again.

I like what n7 said here.... you need to focus on your goals again.

Why are doing internet marketing at all? Is it just a job for you or do you have a real passion for it. Perhaps you need to focus on a higher purpose...something that fires you up with energy day in and day out. Then it becomes less about making money on websites and more about expressing your true passion.

This is the kind of mindset that produces longevity and long term motivation.

You are obviously a super hard worker so you just need to catch some new inspiration!

After doing the same things over and over again, we may feel a loss of interest in what we are doing.

Maybe you need to figure out your values again.

Write down on a piece of paper what was the main thing that drove you to do what you did in the first place.

As long as you have a strong enough why, then you'll be able to find motivation to do what it is you love to do again.

Maybe you just need to refurbish your why, or maybe you need to completely change it.

The complete loss of interest probably wont go away if you go on vacation or take a walk if its been going on for months. I would suggest changing your business up.

I think going from adsense to cpa can be the trigger to spicing things up and getting motivated to start working again. CPA is a whole new game and my guess is that if you do enough testing, you can crush your old numbers.

Or maybe start building sites that you are passionate about, not necessarily that will make the most money. This may help keep you interested in doing what youre doing and help you be motivated again.

My bet is that everything will work out jsut fine for you. Youre gonna feel that fire again in no time.

        to your success

I think you need to take a close look at what you are doing now and refine it before moving into something else.

If you have 40 sites and only 3 make good money - you should be working on the ones that aren't earning to bring them up to profit before starting new sites. If they can't profit, dump them.

I can't imagine how you could spend 12 hrs a day for 5 years if you are doing only adsense and have just 40 sites. Are you doing tasks that aren't necessary?

If you had 40 sites reliably earning an average of only $5 a day you would have an income of $6000 a month and maintenance could be only one day a week or so to add new content. Your earnings may be considerably more than that but 12 hrs/day is too much to work consistently year after after year.

Sometimes we get in a rut of doing what we've always done - when there are methods that work better and save time. Take a look at your "process" and identify where the time is going and look for ways to streamline that process.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

    Don't give up!!!

Im not a big fan of adsense although I always receive checks from G.

You have 40 sites...that was good! Think of improving your traffic
and add more potential money making ads or products.

    Here are my suggestions:

List down all things you know.
List down all friends/contacts you have.
Observe and Follow people that you think is earning huge online.
    List down their products/services.
    Subscribe to their newsletters.
    Check how they do business.
    Interview them.
Check the forums and list down the problems that you think many people have on the forum that you joined.
Create your own product based on the most difficult problems that you can solve.
Create your own product from the interviews of your followed GURUs.
Check the WSOs, OBSERVE,OBSERVE,OBSERVE and OBSERVE!!!
Check how they do business and how they respond to each queries.
    POST your FIRST WSO!
    Build your list.
    Send freebies to your list.
    Send offer to your list.

Think of this ==> Why some people can earn more than you? Why some not so smart earn more than you? What is their qualities that you don't have? Fix it and you will earn. It's more about planning, system and implementation.

I always think of the output before creating the product. I always observe if someone will buy on the product that is on my mind. I always ask my friends/contacts about their opinion on the product that is running on my mind before doing it. I always check if the product will boost my sales or list. Possible number of sales and number of list is the biggest factor for me before I start creating any project. I always think on the volume. I always think of MULTIPLICATION. Hope this help you!

    Good luck!

    Ross

I was just like you about a couple months ago. Majority of my income from IM was coming from Adsense and Clickbank affiliate marketing. Became bored and EASILY distracted everyday when I had planned to sit down and work.

Then I had some friends making a real good return on CPA and it definetely got me back motivated. Not only can you earn some insane high returns on CPA marketing, you are also in the process of learning something new so will keep your interest throughout each day.

I also make time each day now to leave the house, be it just to go work out or even just drive to the local coffee shop to get something to drink and read the paper.

      Hello,

I agree that you MUST take some days away from your pc, your body can`t work in this close cycle, you must have some change that would return more motivation to you.Try to practise the activities which you mostly like, participate with your friend in a trip or any group activity, really that will differ much with you.

      Best wishes

Dont get yourself down and out. we all go through these stages in life. how about me... i have been working on a project since 1981 and each time i am near completion something comes along and kills it. How about two fires, three floods, hurricane Katrina and and losing everthing i own. Then afterwards having some one steal my computer while i was facing a dealdly illeness for the second time in my life.

each time i had to start all over again, with just my memories to rewrite everything.

    But guess what?

Through it all i never gave up and come this Nov. 2009 i will publish my first book.

Don't give up... no matter what--because only you can steal your dreams what now!

I know what are you talking about, HappyMonkey.
    Been there, done that.
I suggest you to take couple of weeks of real off-line vacation.
    You know what I mean.
Completely turn yourself off. After that (predetermined) period, you`ll be amazed how your "batteries" are not just recharged but even gained additional capabilities.
Don`t give up. You already prove that you can make it.

Simple you've gone stale......here's what to do.....did you ever see the Movie ( What about Bob) years ago...?.....in the movie the doctor tells Bob, to take a vacation from his troubles........ ands....Also in the movie the doctor has a book called " Baby Steps".
So here's my advice, take a vacation from your troubles.......and then slowly baby step your way back online.........oh ya, forget the long hours, build your business on what sells amd makes money for you and STOP all the wasted time working on websites that don;t pay out.

Also...take up the guitar....or get a hobby, find a point of interest besides being online. And strive to make it big in your life.
You need a break......you need to see the flowers, touch the ocean and live.

Oh one more thing, I notice that the bulk of most peoples work online can be done in 3 hours or less..........after that people are just hanging online but no longer being productive.......I found working 3 hours in the morning and 2 hours online at night.......with a 4 hour break in between the best way to work.
I can do more in those 5 hours, than working 12 hours in a row.
I can think faster, wiser and be much smarter , and out think other business experts instead of falling to sleep online.

I have to say thanks a lot for all of you. I have a lot to think about and reflect upon. CPA seems like a good new challenge for me and that is what I will try to play with in the coming weeks, seems like this is the best place to be. Thanks to all for making me feel normal!

About the working 4 hours a day or a week... I tired that I was never happy with how my business was growing. Working 12 hours a day increased my business 10 fold every 10 months.

This was said or alluded to in other posts, but you should consider a change in venue. Go for something new and exciting, something you feel passionately about learning or doing. If you can't commit to this new venture wth 100% of your time due to income needs from your other outlets, start out by doing it parttime. Maybe you could build this into the latter part of your work day, so you have something to look forward to. People instinctually fear change. Once one realizes this fear, one can move past it, face it, and create effective outcomes. Good luck Boss! We've all been there, but 3 months seems a bit of a looonng stretch.

I burned out... took a 3 month vacation from working... just spent all my time playing video games, doing nothing... hanging with friends and living at my mom's pad. I did that until something actually motivated me again, which was travelling. After I saw that during some great conversations with a friend I have, I plotted a new path, started taking actions, and then I was off on my world trip within 6 months.

Tristan made a good suggestion. Why are you doing this anyway? You wouldn't be going through all this just to make money for no good reason. Is doing this really what makes you happy? Is this going to get you what really makes you happy as a direct result?

Think about what you would be doing if you had all the money in the world and didn't need to do this.

In other words... would you be doing the same thing you're doing now if you had all the money you'd ever need? If your answer is no, I'd say it might be time to look at what you actually want from life and where/what you want to be.
