Anyone remember the "Don't be evil" campaigns?

I guess the giant corporations will always find loopholes and eventually they will have their ways. Monopolizing the market for profit is never a good thing, especially if it compromises the privacy of the users. These kinds of practices slowed innovation, it's all about how to market it better, how to target the market and how to rank higher.

I feel that most people these days just don't care. I also think that we got to a point where it is almost impossible to reverse the damage, unless all people suddenly became aware of their privacy and started changing their ways.

It used to be "how to make things better at a lower price", now it's all about digital marketing and how to get more exposure or a higher rank to get more traffic. If we revert to the old days, competition will push the markets to become more unique and innovative. Ever though what will happen if user awareness of privacy suddenly became active? If you are/were interested in this kind of topics, please share your thoughts.

Honestly - I don't think people really care. They're just trying to survive and make a buck.

Privacy has long been dead. All that matters are, 'clicks and eyeballs' and most of society willingly participates in the business model. They traded their privacy for targeted ads. Don't blame the big tech companies. They are only delivering what people say they want - regardless of any feigned protests stating otherwise. They're simply NOT being honest.

Sorry - that's reality. If you want to spend your days beating that dead horse - have at it. It will never be reversed. It's much easier to face reality as long as you are willing to accept it.

There exist a segment that cares about privacy, like me. I'm conscious about my privacy. The US keeps interrogating facebook every 3 or 4 years about their privacy and the EU is fining them giants big money. All of this is creating awareness within the public. Although the awareness is not spreading fast enough, it's slowly expanding. I think there is a tiny chance things will be different, maybe in 10 years, privacy will be something different.

maybe people can be forgiven for being stupid .. but when they want the rest of the world to protect them from the consequences of their stupidity ..that is a problem.

are we talking about real privacy here ..which does not exist anymore..every thing you put online or in a computer or say into a phone .. or buy in a store with a store card ..you debit or credit card.. nerly everything you do is tracked by a dozen different agencies ..

no what we are talking about .. is what the big companies do with the data users generate using free services.. to make money.. who they sell the data to..who then turn around and try to use the data to get marketing messages in front of us ..to get us to buy stuff..or influence our vote ..

if you want privacy .. don't use facebook.. watch youtube without an acount .. same with searching stuff on google.. you different computers or don't have an account ..

but if you want the convenience provide for no monetary cost to you these services offer.. than be a happy data creator ..

I'm sure it will. In 10 years it will be totally non-existent. Can't get much more different than that. You want privacy? Get off the Internet, move deep within the Amazon rain forest and surrender every creature comfort, and technological advancement you have come to know and love. We'll see how long you last. lol

I hear people tell me all the time that they are concerned about their privacy. When I ask them why, do you know what I hear back? Generally, crickets. They spit and sputter about 'Big Brother,' because they are parroting something they heard on TV.

The privacy ship has sailed. You want to worry about the future? Here's 3 things you actually need to worry about. Clean air, available food, clean water. They're disappearing faster than your privacy and without them, your privacy ain't worth a bucket of warm spit.

pricay had it' place in the past ..now ..where people openly talk about things that would have been kept private a few decades ago ..and gather in discussion groups .. and people who go to church more than once a week and actually practice their faith ..seem to be the ones that others are allowed to shame.. where if someone is is having sex with multiple partners on a dayly basis.. you can't publicly show disapproval ..

the privacy people are also the ones who beieve big brother will implant micro chips in everyone.. then some day decide to round everyone up with beliefs that are not approved and put them in fema camps ..

questions deevoo .. yay or neh.. sence you worry about privacy, do you also think there will be one day we are forced to have chips implanted.. and do you think fema camp are a real thing

    The world is Love.

    All else is illusion.

If you see evil and pain and think people are trying to survive and will do everything, you live in illusory hell. Good luck with that LOL. Almost like a magic trick that you buy into, 100%.

Only Love is real. But most humans - living in mind - buy into the illusion of fear, then, act on it, and we see the appearances of evil/death/fighting/wars. Humans are funny like that. They believe so much in what isn't there, that they do their darndest to prove it's real, buying into a hologram.

Always seemed bizarre to me. At least over the past few years of my life LOL.

The only thing I fear are people that believe that the, "world is love and everything else is just an illusion." They should not be allowed to roam free, endangering the rest of us.

There's a word for people who believe that bullshit, but it's not nice to use it in polite society.
