In the past couple of months that I've strated getting into this online marketing business, sometimes when I got discouraged, I was seeking advice in order to get out of the slump. As I've come to realize, after searching for a long time through the internet, watching videos etc., I should only take advice from people that have succeeded or have real knowledge in the business of my interest, because they know how it works and most probably they have gone through all the ups and downs that I have. This is just my opinion, what do you think about it. Let me know!

So your grand epiphany is to only take advice from people who know what they're talking about. And don't take advice from people who don't know what they're talking about?

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Although, before I take your advice on this...
How do I know that you know what you're talking about? (Hmm, we seem to have a conundrum on our hands)

I should have changed the line from "you should only hear" to "I should only hear". Also you shouldn't take my advice, since, as you correctly pointed out, I'm not successful yet nor do I have real knowldege about this business.

Simply put: You have to learn something from credible People. (If you're not sure, then just search them on YouTube.)

now.. how can you be sure the people you think know what they are talking about.. actually do know ..

beyond what they claim to know ..while they are trying to sell you a course ..of this online marketing thing ..

here is advice from just some guy on a forum .. who may or may not no left from right and what not..

the way you market your products is not the business you are in ..the business you are in is the product or service you are selling .. weather you sell through email.. facebook ads. google adwords..you tub video.. instagram posts ..

is the way you market the business.. not the business ..

but i have no reason to prove to you i have any clue what i am talking about ..and the guy telling you how they built a 100k a month shopify store.. is probably not going to tell you his profits

revenue is great for the ego.. profits put food on the table

      Amen, brother.

I'm sure you heard about the guy who was losing $35 on ever sale. When this was brought to his attention, he replied, "Not a problem. I'm going to make it up on volume."

Yeah, I think you need to elaborate more on what you're doing, or think doing wrong so that people in here with some experience in that area may be able to point you in the right direction.

As far as learning only from people who's been there done that first, that's a wise decision. We live in an age now where there's too much information and can easily be overwhelming. So filtering the info to people who's already been successful at something you want to do is the way to go. It will save you time, money, and frustration in the long run.

in my opinion, seeking an advice to professional's is not a bad idea at all, it can be your one step tool in achieving a positive mind and a good attitude thinking when its comes to your business.

sharing information's with them is good too, asking them if you are going on a right track and what should be avoided. Them giving you good advice is good for you if you are trying to accomplish something. But never forget to learn from your own experience because they are the best teachers you could have.

I believe the correct statement is, "Never give up until you see that there is absolutely no hope of success."

    ...what YOU wanted?

You STARTED getting into online marketing? Who did you confer with about that decision?

Why? You seek advice? Start with yourself.

What do you want and why? What will an online business do for you? What will it look like? How much do you want/need to earn? What will you do?

See, a week of consulting with YOURSELF, could have saved you months of time getting other people's opinions.

You created your ups and downs at the very beginning of your venture. MY opinion!

    GordonJ

PS. By answering your own questions, you would have then sought out the right kind of advice from the people who actually had it to begin with.

I take advice from anyone...but then I choose what advice is good for my business and myself. Everyone have some gift. You don't have to wait for a pro or guru to tell you how they made their millions. Most of the time we know already what we need to know but we postpone starting working on it. Anyway, my take on this.

On a flip side though, are we - a perpetual trier - doomed to have a go at this online stuff because we aren't experts nor did we succeed... just yet?

I've started my blog (which I created a new thread seeking experts' critique but awaiting approval) about money and habit. My username (moneyhabitmuse) with dot com if anyone is interested.

The blog is from my own personal experience - mismanagement of money, accumulated bad habits, countless mistakes, dire consequences I had to pay. And lessons I've learned from them. Things that helped me to get out of a difficult period.

Before starting a blog, I found myself keep talking to friends and relatives - younger ones - basically, "don't live like I did". Surprisingly, I started noticing small changes in them. Looking up books, listening to podcasts, starting to save/invest and etc.

It motivated me to start a blog.

I'm a complet newbie in the game. I have a couple of IMers/bloggers I admire. Benchmarking them for quality.

There are many many successful IMers/bloggers out there. But some of the well known ones, I find them quite dry.

Even if on a virtual world, I had to feel some connection usually through their warmth and down-to-earth character.

In general, I think we'd all want to learn from successful people. But depending on a niche you're in, you can also learn from those who once had a total failure.

    Or so I tell myself

Yes, I completely agree on your part that you shall take advice from someone who has already been through the situation and got the success on it. Either it is technical advice or your personal life problems. It is also good to refer personal and Professional coaching who can surely help in boosting your morale.
