What's the best marketing tip/advice you have ever been given

I'm interested to hear what people regard as the best tip/advice they have ever been given to do with IM.

I think the best bit of advice I was given was 'the more buy buttons you have out there, the more chance you have of making sales and income'.

The best bit of advice I would give is to find something that works and then just keep at it.

    "Focus like a laser beam!"

I believe it was from Melvin Powers. It was a long time ago so no guarantee.

Sell 'em what they already buy.

I have no idea where I came across that. Might have been my grandfather who was a life-long salesman.

Forget about you focus on them

Understand those words and you hold the keys to massive amounts of money online.

Every piece of copy you write and everything you sell must be focused on the other person.

You see the typical customer is tuned into one radio station and that's...

    WIIFM

    What's In It For Me

And if you want to make money you've got to tune into this station as well.

Understanding this unlocked a whole new world of potential for me when it came to online marketing and making money.

  • Nowadays Great Content is still the King. You can now have a blog turn it to a video personalization plus engagement chat added. This can be trending and viral, have more backlink and more reach to your audience.
In order to get a targeted visitor to your product or offered, you have to optimize your content either blog or video and direct visitors to your landing page to get their details. You can then message them with email chat on facebook etc. It is a long process but it will be time well spent.

  • Stop Believing In a Magic Money Button. Success is as a result of hard work and focus, and in the same way, making money takes work. Yes, IM can be simple and straightforward, but there is no magic button for generating money.

This is the best piece of advice I have gotten in my years of online marketing too.

Another one is: "don't try to reinvent the wheel."

If your marketing doesn't evoke an emotion, you've failed. Instead of starting in the weeds, start with the emotion you want to illicit, then work back from there.

It's not advice but just thought.

Just try to understand and think where you would be now if you started some business few years ago.

I mean, for example you want to start a list building, or affiliate marketing or any other business, but delaying, you not taking action, so just think where you would be if you started list building few years ago when you also was thinking to start list building. So right now is the same situation, you want to start list building, but in most case scenario you wont start now and delay everything. So after few years you will again want to start list building and you will remember this moment and try to think where you would be if you started few years ago.

I am sure I explained in complicated way, but I hope you understood the main concept.

    "Don't be a Robot."

I am into Digital Marketing and we tend to a lot of activities for increased Traffic in less time which includes posting constantly at various platforms. I was asked to stop and be a person and put in the human touch. The traffic might decrease but what we'll get is quality. Quantity with no quality does not make sense.

The best advice I was given is "There is no magic pill out there" and "Winners never quit and Quiters never Win". Work hard and never quit. Stop looking for the magical businesses or programs or short cuts or get rich quick schemes. "The Dream Works if You Work!"

A woman asked me what I did for a living.
I said "I sell vacuum cleaners in people's homes"
She asked "How do you make money doing that?"
I said "I sell them for more than I pay for them"
      She asked "Is that legal?"

      I swear to God.

I don't know if this was ever taught to me, but it's probably the best single thing I ever learned about selling/marketing...

Only present your offer to people who have bought a similar offer in the past...and have bought the same way that you are selling.

These people are tested and proven buyers of what you sell.

Years ago, a customer who bought one of my ready made website packages told me 'I wouldn't be able to sleep if I bought a whiteboard animation for $5 and charged a client $200!'.

'Sell it for $6 then?' I advised.

'That would be a WASTE OF TIME' she replied. 'I want a refund ($7)'...

It is even worse when you get into talking about write tax write off ..for business expenses .

all the data and the platform on the internet .. make it easier than ever for a marketer to find and get there marketing in front of proven buyers ..and that is why so much information is being gathered ..because these so called free services like google ,Facebook and you tube.. make their money by selling user data to marketers trying to make a profit . selling stuff to those users .

now most of these platforms appeal to different age ranges and genders or economic groups ..and thats the easiest data to find ..

A little something I learned from Claude is the more you do something the better you get at it and that kind of motivates you to keep doing it. (Or something along those lines.) And it's been helpful as it's been true for the Project I'm working on at the moment.

It is more important to deliver and advertise in the right place then to stuffing posts on every social media platform. People are now habitual of assuming that it is a compulsion to use all the channels available for starting their campaigns. However, the better strategy is to focus on some of the targeted platforms for a targeted audience. It will help in increasing value for the specified platforms instead of just being present as an unnoticed member with almost no recognition and reviews.

Nowadays nice Content remains the King. you'll be able to currently have a journal flip it to a video personalization and engagement chat side. this may be trending and microorganism, have a lot of backlink and a lot of reach to your audience.
In order to urge a targeted traveler to your product or offered, you have got to optimize your content either journal or video and direct guests to your landing page to urge their details. you'll be able to then message them with email chat on facebook etc. it's a protracted method however it'll be time well spent

Don't focus on the number of likes or followers. Focus on the process of producing great content.

That's the IM specific advice under the "do what you love and it will never feel like work" umbrella.

Seriously though, 1000 passionate, engaged fans is so much better than 100K bots.

This ideology comes from Gary V.

There are some great tips in this thread. Thanks for sharing, everyone.

  • Here are the four advices I have received with my experience.
    1. Always think about your audience first - who are they and what do they want/need to know?
    2. Keep it simple - don't try to cram too much information into one piece of content.
    3. Be creative - think outside the box to come up with new and interesting ways to market your product or service.
    4. Test, test, test - try different things and see what works best for you and your business.
