Give Me Just 10 Minutes A Day And I'll Double Your Productivity In A Week

A team of scientists gathered 3 groups of people into a room.

They were about to embark on an experiment that would change the way people thought about motivation.

But to do that, they would have to test these 3 groups of people in an area that almost everyone struggles with...

... getting more exercise.

Specifically, all 3 groups of people were told to exercise for 20 minutes a day.

And to do this for over a period of a month or so.

But since the goal was to see which group of people would be most likely to stick to the plan, they had to report on their progress.

Success or failure. The scientists were gonna know exactly how they did.

Group 1 was the control. And they were just given the instructions. But nothing else.

"Exercise for 20 minutes a day. After a month let us know if you did it."

Group 2 was almost the same as Group 1. But with one distinguishing feature:

They were given a sheet of paper with motivational facts and text. Stuff that would hopefully give them a morale boost.

Group 3, however, was told to do something very, very special...

They were told to write down the exact time there were going to exercise everyday, where they were going to exercise, and how they were going to exercise.

*BOOM*

A month came and passed.

And the results were... somewhat shocking...

But, at the same time, very insightful.

Group 1 scored a stick rate of around 35%.

And group 2 scored a similar stick rate around 35%.

But Group 3?

The results were a staggering 91%!

What just happened here?

If you understand the principle behind this, it's gonna double your productivity faster than anything else:

It's called time blocking.

The concept is simple.

And we all do it to some extent.. blocking out time in our calendar for an appointment... a birthday... an event... etc.

But very few people ever do time blocking on a DAILY basis.

Yet, it's the one thing you can do to double your productivity during this crazy time where people are moping around panicking, being hit left and right by psychological stress, and not getting much done (even if they want to).

That's the first step to doubling your productivity this week...

... blocking out some time everyday to get the right stuff done..

But what is the right stuff?

And what should you be time blocking everyday?

Now THAT'S the stuff that gonna really matter.

If you've been in business for any amount of time, you've probably heard about the Pareto Principle:

"80% of results come from 20% of actions."

And most gurus will tell you to focus on those 20% of the most important actions that give you the majority of results... and ignore the remaining 80% that only gives you very little results...

But here's where they get it wrong:

The 80/20 rule is just the starting point.

It gets deeper.

And you need to tap into this depth if you really want to excel.

20% of everything you do gives you 80% of the results in your business, marketing, life, etc.

Yes, that's true.

However, we can drill deeper.

20% of that 20% of the actions will give you 80% of the 80% of those results.

And if you go further...

20% of the 20% of the 20% actions will give you 80% of the 80% of the 80% of the results.

And it gets more and more concentrated as you go down the slope...

Eventually, it reaches a point where you find that just doing 1 thing... will give you almost all the results.

And the more you do this 1 thing, the faster and more powerfully you can grow your business, life, and happiness.

This is a principle that some people call:

"The Hyper-Pareto Principle".

Drilling down the 20%...

... all the way down to...

... just ONE thing.

The one most important thing:

This is what you should add to your time block everyday. And schedule in your calendar.

Just spending 10 minutes everyday to determine what that 1 thing is in all aspects of your life - health, wealth, love, happiness - and time blocking that one thing... every single day... will lead to phenomenal results.

But here's the catch:

At this point most people will ask themselves...

"Is one thing enough to get the results I need? To make the money I want? To acquire the happiness I desire?"

"What if my desires are complex? Can something so simple really achieve them."

The answer to this question is in the concept of something called fractals.

A fractal is...

... simply speaking...

... basically a repeating pattern that repeats itself again and again...

But by combining those repeating patterns in different ways, new and more complex structures can be formed every single time.

Take for example... DNA.

It's basically a series of repeating sequences... again and again and again... but depending on how you put them together, they can yield vastly differently life forms.

Or take for example... the simple snowflake.

On a microscopic level, tiny patterns repeating themselves again and again - when put together in different ways - form vastly different snowflakes each time.

I believe there's a saying that says there are no two snowflakes that are exactly the same?

Same thing when you boil everything down to your "one thing" but think of how you can combine it together in different ways.

On a piano, you'll find just one single repeating sequence of 7 different notes.

But by combining this sequence of notes in different ways... it creates of whole new universe.

So my friend...

... if you want to be more productive, to get more stuff done...

... and stop listening to the misery that the news is drilling into your brain so that they can rapidly expand their viewership and advertising income...

... figure out the one key thing you need to get done every single day...

... spend 10 minutes blocking out time to get it done...

... and do it.

And watch your productivity soar over the coming weeks and months.

But only if take this right now and put it into practice.

I believe it was Bill Gates who said:

"We overestimate what we can get done in a year, but underestimate what we can get done in ten years."

Small steps, my friend.

Consistent, forward momentum will bring you much farther than you can imagine.

Time in my life from the exact time I get up 7 days a week, to the time I goto bed ( the hardest end block for me ) is totally accounted for, from now until the end of time.

I have very specific time blocks through out the day that maybe don't have exact who, how, and where notations, but WHAT should be done in that time block is defined.

I think as the study indicates the better you can define the How, What, and When of any time block the more efficient you will be. But not all blocks of time can be so easily defined. 3 hours a day 7 days a week I do sales. There are days I don't actually sell anything, but spend those 3 hours doing sales related activities. 1 Hour a day I workout. 2 hours a day I have time for my son. 1 Hour a day I have time for my wife. I eat on a very specific schedule.

Blocking time is very important. Something I might add is including smaller blocks that allow for a transition from one block to the next. Depending on the where factor I have 5 to 15 minute transition blocks set through out the day - that allows me to get from the gym back to the office etc.

    Cool post! thanks

Thanks for the insight, but you have way too much space between your sentences. I will give the 10 minute strategy a shot...

    Wow!

You just reminded me we can get Research Grants for just about anything.

I found something good. A new computer, not used. With 12 GB rather than 4 GB I can use dual screens and I can leave my notes program running. SO my notes and my calendar can always be seen and altered. Like today I woke up early and moved all my time blocks up to my waking time. (But I left in time for this post.) I find a good time blocking system requires a bit more power. My old computer bogged down with too many tabs or too many programs running.

Wow, this is just amazing! Hyper-Pareto Principle - I learn something every day!!

The concept of time-blocking is amazing, but this takes it to a whole new level.
