If I was Christian I too would "only" believe in Jesus Christ. But by calling yourself anything such as Christian, Muslim, Jewish or whatever, what this does is catergorizes the children of Abraham, which is the human family, and places us inside boxes only to seperate and divide us which leads to war, hatred and total destruction.

So I ask the question, "Why are we killing each other in the name of God." Is it the core essence of who we are which is God manifested in physical form doing this? Or is it the ego which is the emeny that lives within thats got us telling ourselves that "my God is better than yours?"

Seperateness is not the purpose of man. Seeking oneness with Creation (GOD) on all levels is the core pupose of man. Let me "enlighten" you for a moment. How can you seperate yourself from the plant kingdom when it's the plant kingdom that gives you the oxygen you need to breathe? Without oxygen there is no you and without you there is no plant kingdom! You are not seperate from it you are at one with it. Do you see where I'm coming from?

I'm not trying to get you to believe what I believe or pull you off your own spiritual journey. And, you are entitled to your opinions.

God is EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is existance! This only means that you are one with everything, even when your ego tells you otherwise. By the way your ego is the devil in guise... so to speak.

God will reveal itself through many different people and things because, once again, God is everything! God is creation!

        Hi,
Although I have no god, I find a great deal to agree with in Ebiz's most recent post. I cannot understand why people who fervently believe in their own God think that everyone else should also believe and as Ebiz rightly says, the outcome of such beliefs is frequently very divisive to put it mildly!
That said, of Ebiz's list in his first post, the only two I admire are Martin Luther King and Mahatma Ghandi. Both were very courageous people who stood up for their beliefs no matter what the personal danger and left a permanent legacy to the world.
On a lesser scale, although I genuinely admire him for his courage as well as his sporting achievements, I would also add Muhammad Ali to the list.

I'm with you on this, human like to group themselves. I'm not sure how it is ranked by importance but its obvious people like to group by race, gender, education level, social status and most powerful of all "Religion".

I believe in god but skeptical in the messenger or middle man who claim to be able to communicate with god and spread the teaching of god - I rather call myself free thinker.

If believeing in Jesus works for you thats cool. I too believe in Jesus and his teachings. However, knowing that God is Creation is knowing that truth is in everything and everywhere only if we open our minds and hearts to receive the true message.

Go back and read the Old Testement. Hidden truths are within those pages. This is what Jesus was talking about and thus the reason why he was crucified. He came with a "new" truth so to speak and he was not believed by many.

All I ask is that you learn truth by learning who YOU really are. It's good to take in account the opinions of other people but if you don't understand what you are being taught then it makes no sense to believe in a "religion" soley based off family traditions or fear itself.

God gave you the right to think for Self cause Self is God in physical form.

If all you believe in is Jesus Christ, again ain't nothing wrong with that, then why do we tend to hang on to the words of our pastors or the elders of our churches as if what they are teaching is truth. many times we don't seek to find truth for ourselves. This is where the problem starts.

We fail to even read to Bible for ourselves or really study the teachings of Jesus. Instead, we think we can go to church on Sundays and listen to our pastors and preachers and that is okay. It's no wonder why the people of the world are walking blindly.

Jesus Christ was a fantastic man and teacher. He has given us some great things to think about and I think that anyone who follows his teachings will do well and be a good person.

Though He is not the only one who we can learn and grow from. There is nothing wrong with learning with other spiritual teachers even though you are dedicated to Jesus Christ. If you feel that strongly about Jesus, you can always keep him as your Lord and at the same time take the positive lessons and truths that are offered elsewhere.

If you are willing to listen to another great teacher's point of view, I would point you towards Eckhart Tolle. I think that everyone can take good from his writings.

        Best,
        Chris

I'm going to stop this discussion right now!
If your spiritual you more than likely believe in one higher being. The rest of the information is purely teaching.

So here's my question to everyone. Why are you taking one man's teachings and blindly following the teachings. Why limit yourself to one religion when all of religion speaks of the same underlying principle? Makes no sense to me.

After reading your post, I think you may have just done the exact opposite.

Looks forward to some interesting discussion. I'm hoping its not just religious talk about which is the one true god and and blah, blah, blah, but a real conversation on what Mr. Opossum wrote. Let's see...

I absolutely agree. You seem like a well-read and well-thought gentleman to me. And I am willing to bet that you became this way thru having an open mind. It makes me smile when I see people who still think and do not continue walking thru life in a walking daze.

Its unfortunate that some (not all) people will immediately dismiss thoughts such as you have written because it falls outside of the comfort zone that their religions have confined them to.

Once again though eBiz, your post here (among others) is inspiring and I hope that others will benefit from reading it with an open mind.

      Best to you all,
      Chris

You are a man after my own heart, Judah. At one time or another, I've written about most of the things you've talked about in this thread. It would seem you are like me, a truth seeker no matter where the truth leads, rather than someone who only seeks after truths that validate what they already believe. Carry on, my good man, carry on.

I like your view that there are many mentors that we should have. Not necessarily all personally us, rather by sharing their wisdom through their successes, product, books, videos etc.

Life to me is this, when we stop growing (learning), we die.
