Personal growth Buddies or Mentors

Hi All,
Over the past year or so I have been devoting much of my attention and free time to master growth in the areas of self development.

Overall this has been a very positive experience that has very much contributed to my increase in confidence, wellbeing and personal achievement.

The Challenge is that I feel empty without having no one to make this journey with. It's like I learned the skills but don't get enjoyment by working with someone else on them. I live alone and while happy as such, during current times this is a challenge to find mentorship or other people.

I know, for example, there will be a (virtual) Tony Robins Date with destiny seminar happening in October and would love to have someone to go through in that journey - That I could discuss things with.

Have any of you felt (feel) this way?

I don't think I've ever felt this way in my life, but that might just be because I'm a lone wolf. To me I just think that people will hold me back at times.

Now, don't get me wrong I love to share experiences with the right people in my life, rarely try to get another person onboard.

Just learn enjoy the moment and the right people will meet you at the right time.

Set 50K aside to pay for mentors or grease elbows (this might be a rough awakening) and do it in the house. However seeking the expertise of someone who's been where you want to be and DONE that, it wouldn't hurt* Buddies can never be mentors, you need a bulldog for a mentor. One that is as ferocious as steadfast. You should know them by name if not being a customer already and knowing who is who.

    * I mean devour their knowledge so you can be up and running with a business you can rely for life.
It's your call. Me? It gets my juices flowing when I MEDITATE. Meditation is key; if the spirit is not fortified to withstand the PAIN of ascending higher and then just take "premeditated action".

Lots of people feel that way.

Who do you share your thoughts of personal growth with? Who do you talk about your achievements with?

I'm lucky in that I have a very supportive wife who is equal to me....and puts up with my compulsion to get ahead.

Years ago, I was a top salesman. Top in the industry. I had employees, reps, and the usual friends and relatives.

You can't talk about success with you employees, they think you're talking down to them...or taking advantage of them.

You can't tell your friends and relatives...because they don't share your passion or drive.

And I certainly couldn't talk to my customers.

That's why most of my friends are business owners. at least we have something in common. A few problems we talk about in common. Our ideas follow a similar path sometimes.

But a Tony Robbins event? Yes, you'll meet people like you. But you don't need to pay to meet people like yourself.

And at the Tony Robbins event, it isn't a gat together to share ideas and support. The hard truth is that it's a group sales event, put on for the sole purpose of selling the audience on coaching and other services.

Of course, if that's why you're going, more power to you.

My friend, I'm going to tell you a truth now that took me 65 years to learn in full.

If you want to share you journey, with someone not in it to get something out of you...

    Here are your choices.

Get a spouse that thinks like you do, or at least is unwaveringly supportive.

Your parents love you unconditionally. Share your journey with them.

Your children love you, share your journey with them.

    Those are your choices.

Everyone else loves you until it's inconvenient. And anyone that talks to you about being a mentor is giving you a sales pitch.

A slight exception is on forums like this, where several of us are really here to share ideas, and help others. But that stops when money exchanges hands.

A close approximation of a mentor that isn't selling you something is this....Find someone you aspire to be like...and work for them. Tell them the reason, you want to learn what they know... and go to work.

You'll actually make money while they train you. They will want to hear about your struggles and successes.

But even then, the umbilical cord will need to be cut eventually, and then you'll be friends, and equals.

Yup. $50,000 is what I charge to grease elbows. That's $50,000 per elbow.

I am sure the Tony experience will be good on the day and good some time afterwards, and this time next year?

And l would recommend sitting next to a single, attractive woman, odd's on you will have to tell her your life story and give her a hug before the event is over.

The other option is to set up your own forum.
