What do you do when you don't have any motivation?

Bit long, but looking for advice. I was a member here about 5+ years ago.

I don't think it's depression, I feel pretty good about myself. I just have no motivation, or care. I'm behind on my taxes, and I just don't care. My income has become low, possibly need to declare bankrupcy. I just don't care about anything and can't be bothered to do the things I NEED to do. I have no passion... well really it seems my passion right now (as sad as it sounds) is my body. I'm good looking, muscular, and very lean, and seems to be whats on my mind the most. I'm not trying to brag, but I'm wondering if I should be trying to get into something related to my body, for my temporary career, as it seems it's the closest thing to a passion I have. I was thinking fitness modelling, though where I live, there wouldn't be too much money in it, or even bartending, as the money is pretty good.

As for online, I started over 10 years ago when I was 16. I started a site on a subject I wanted to learn more about. It was a hobby. It quickly turned into a business, but I LOVED what I was doing, I was doing it for FREE. Hour after hour, I couldn't get enough. In a couple years I was making well into six figures. As it turned into a business, you don't enjoy it as a hobby as much anymore, and you're more involved in the business side. I lost the passion. I was putting in 1-2 hours a day, and still making great money because of what I built. I slowly let it go, and it doesn't bring in much money any more.

The thing is, I COULD do it again. I know I could get it to six figures again, but the subject is not my love anymore, and there really isn't anything else online I could do it with. I know what I need to do to make the money, and how to do it, but I'm having a hard time really getting going because I don't have the passion I once did.

I'm looking for some opinions on what to do.
And I don't know if this not caring, no motivation are symptoms of depression, or if I just need to find something that can motivate me.

Thank you for your time.

Seems like you lost your passion.
But don`t worry, it is just temporarily. There is always a solution around you (to be more precise - in you).
I strongly suggest you to read book "DNA of Success" by Jack M. Zufelt.
I`m quite sure that you`ll find answers very soon.
By finding your deepest wishes and realizing what motivates you, you`ll be back in the saddle again.
    Wish you all the best

I think I know how you feel (kind of). What do I do when I feel like that? Bugger all, thats what. It seems whats on your mind, in some ways is having to make money and then you're attributing this to "losing passion". If you ask me its totally normal, don't feel bad about it, humans weren't designed to "make money", work away like slaves to capitalism. It's totally acceptable that you're feeling this way, I don't think that it was you losing passion, hell no! Its because doing the business sucked after a while.

The way I see it you have a few options

    1) Wait until you start going hungry and then you'll have greater imptetus to "do" something.

    2) Claim welfare benefits, pretty easy if you live in the UK

    3) Get a job where you don't have to think much about anything, minimum wages aren't bad, fortunately you live in a country where minimum wage is actually ok! Don't think much and enjoy the stress free nature of such a job.

Whatever you're feeling, don't just force yourself down some random route that you think you should do, it has to sit well with your mind otherwise you'll set yourself up for even more dismay. Don't dwell on it, get lots of sleep, go do things you enjoy or sit around and do very little (its what I do). Until eventually your mind gets some inspiration from somewhere and you're ready again and believe me, you'll know when you're ready again.

I'm sorry but not caring about paying your taxes and possibly having to declare bankruptcy has gone a lot further than simply losing your passion. Yes, that can certainly be a sign of depression and you should consult with a professional, even if only to rule it out.

Seriously, if you can make a good income in the 1-2 hours daily that you claim, how much actual passion and motivation does it take? The tax man cometh would be plenty of motivation for most people.

I was actually coming here to post about that. I listened to his course several months ago, it helped a bit, and I need to do it more often. I ordered a few books amazon a few days ago, one recommended by someone here.
      Art of War
      Think And Grow Rich
      Getting Things Done

Also listened to A Man Thinketh, but didn't care for it that much.

It used to be 1-2hours max 5+ years ago when things were easier online. It would take a lot more work now, but I know I can still do it.

    What a precious young child!

I'm not going to preach, teach, admonish, offer 'sage' advise or anything of the sort. I'm going to say "I'm with U Bro, that search never ends.' Though I'm coming up on the age of 68, I still feel like the very same person I WAS WHEN I WAS YOUNG like you.

"Getting Rich" is not the answer to a successful-happy life. "Giving Rich" IS.

      I am 72yrs,contracted to 1 medical partnership >45yrs.,
severely electrocuted on site, on compo. for 3 mths,
subsequent rehab. attempts over 1 year failed. It's 'all in
your head.' No CT, No MRI at the time but now plain 2 see.
The observing 'I' is completely unaffected and the same as
when I first became aware abt. 17 yrs, it (I) lives outside
of time and space. Two yrs. ago the partnership progressively changed to a public company who disowned
me without any form of compensation. One year ago my
GP placed me on suicide watch with Govt. approved drugs.
I see a psychologist every 2 weeks and a psychiatrist every 12 weeks. Tomorrow I see a lifeline financial counsellor. Six months ago I decide to have a shot at internet marketing(what's that?) On the first of Nov. I went online. Does this answer you? Regards, Douglas

You are confusing motivation with passion and second you have the wrong end of the pointy stick and are looking for love in all the wrong places.

Passion as you describe it above does not have a price tag or earnings disclaimer attached, and is probably why your walking around lost.

Real passion does not look at your payday, it means going out in this world and finding your niche, the one that gets you out of bed at sunrise, the one that keeps you awake at night working out how to improve what you did today.

More so that passion is not connected to a $ amount, it works the other way, Once you find you true Passion , you master that trade or niche, its not work because your doing what you love and only at that point does true riches follow in monetary value and or in the form of inner self / wellbeing.

So if motivation is a by by product of passion then that is what you seek.

I know passion does not have a price tag, but I need to make money> When I first started I did it for fun, it was a passion.
As stupid as it sounds, sculpting my body is a passion, adn I think about how I can improve it.

As I said, I had a passion, it was my niche, and I was on top of it, then I just lost it because it turned into a business, and not just the hobby I once had. And I'm not so much interested in that niche/hobby as much anymore.

You need to find your true life's purpose. Until you do you aren't going to have real passion toward something that doesn't fit that purpose.
