Best quote I've heard in a while...

I don't watch award shows as a rule but I did record the CMA awards last week as there were a couple of performances that seemed worth watching (and were).

The acceptance speech by Jelly Roll (I know) got my attention. This is an almost 40 year old obese, over tattooed man who won 'new artist' award....he can SING.

The Jelly Roll comment that hit me was this:

I want to tell you that the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror for a reason because what's in front of you is so much more important than what's behind you.

Truth.

I agree .We cannot re live yesterdays moments and the future is ahead of us .

No we cannot move forward if we are looking back .

Jelly Roll's acceptance speech at the CMA Awards was truly impactful. His wisdom about the windshield being bigger than the rearview mirror resonates deeply - a reminder that our future holds more significance than our past. It's a profound perspective that encourages us to focus on the journey ahead rather than dwelling on what's behind. His words serve as a powerful motivation to keep moving forward.

    Truth.

    Aw.

    Kay likes Jelly Roll.

    So sweet.

He has been around for a while, he is probably just new
to the country music scene and other people since he
made his Opry debut a couple of years ago.

That is a meaningful quote but it is open to interpretation.

ICYMI the clip of his acceptance speech can be seen on
    YouTube.

I like his voice and think perhaps country music fits him... Don't care for the weight or the face tatts. I think that voice is wasted on rap but seems logical he would start with rap considering his past (or at least the media version).

The surface issues aside, he seem to be a quality person and a kind person - and i like that in anyone.

Maybe I'm odd but I think any quote worth repeating is open to interpretation...

    You're not odd.

Just about everything is open to interpretation.

I don't want to get into a conversation about the past, we all have one.

I'm happy with mine and I try not to live there.

But I'll go there for a minute.

Back in 1981 when Barbara Mandrell's

"I Waaaas Country, When Country Wasn't Cool" dropped

Me and my friends wore that record out.

And we wore ourselves out singing and dancing.

In other words, I am country from way back.

My family originates from the Nashville area. IDK know all of their
music preferences, but my father is country.

I am a lifelong JohnnyCashPatsyCline fan.

If I encounter a jukebox, that's what's getting played and everybody
in the place is going to listen to THAT!

And maybe some of my singing along about falling to pieces.

I like other music also, but that is my first jukebox choice.

When I'm at home, if I'm in the mood for music, it's usually jazz but
I have some country in my CD collection.

    Anyway, back to the grindstone.

I do my best work during the night lately.

    Lovely.

I try a healthy combination. With (reasonable) nostalgia for the past - and a strong optimistic outlook to what's ahead.

It's truly inspiring to see Jelly Roll's journey and his perspective on focusing on the future rather than the past. His analogy of the windshield being larger than the rearview mirror is a powerful reminder for all of us to concentrate on what lies ahead and embrace new opportunities. His success as a 'new artist' at his age and with his unique style is a testament to the idea that it's never too late to pursue your dreams and make a significant impact.

  • Even with retrospect pumped to the max, the past retains its inevitability 100%.

Tamara fulla evrythin' evah been possibyool -- plus mebbe extra bcs we all been gowin' for a while.

So you gotta wish always for your next steps into the fyootyoore.

    & leap out accordingly.

Anythin' less diminishes all hope an' reasons to exist -- speshly if'n EVRYWAN klutzes out all kinda simultaneous.

Yeah exactly, we can't focus on our future until we're stuck into our past. I just wanted to quote my favorite lines, "your past is done, so forget it. your future is yet to come, so dream about it", these lines are life savour for me, whenever i stucked in the emotioanl trauma, i read these lines.

  • Very nice quote here, it's one focused of looking forward rather than backward cos we can't change what's already happened instead we lift our heads up and keep grinding

I completely agree with you. It's important to focus on what lies ahead of us and not get too caught up in the past. The windshield provides a much larger view of what's coming our way, while the rearview mirror only shows us a small glimpse of what's already behind us. It's always better to keep our eyes forward and move towards a better future.

When we encounter problems, it is easy to be tempted to look back and regret what happened. But this will not help us move forward.

Maybe we really should look forward and leave the things of the past behind, just let them pass and maybe even overcome or forget them.

Our targets, objectives and everything that comes after as a reward always stay ahead of everything, no matter what happens we need to keep looking forward. Because if we lose our route or deviate from a path by mistake, we may get lost and may not be able to find our way back.
