A man has cancer for 5 years, not knowing. He is healthy for the most part.
He is loving life and everything is going great as far as he knows.

One day he goes for a check up, the doctor see's something that he think's
need's further looking into. Two weeks later this man finds out he has cancer,
within 1 month he dies.

What caused his death? He was unknowingly living a great life with cancer for
5 years. What happened to this man after the doctor told him he had cancer?

The man had 6 weeks left before his life was going to expire. Would you rather know you had a couple wekes left, or not know? What would you do differently?

I have heard of this happening to others.

The human mind is a very powerful thing. The mind can heal as well
as harm. I've heard people beating cancer with their will to live and
    survive.

Others, I would surmise it's because fear that takes control.

This should be an example to others to get check ups and
    screenings often, myself included.

Live to fully enjoy and experience life.

There is some great stories on this topic.

I cant recall the exact names or details but I heard this from Christopher Howard (NLP trainer). There was a man who was really successful, who got diagnosed with cancer that was terminal.
His doctor thought he would try a new drug that was proving to cure cancer in rats. The doctor took the drug and the result was amazing. The tumors basically began to disolve and the patient went on living life to the fullest. Then the final results of the tests on the drug came back and found that it did not cure cancer.

The mans cancer came back within months. The doctor then after reviewing the situation thought he would try something and gave the man a substance that was basically water and said it was the 2nd phase in the trial and was proving to be a better. Again the tumors dissapeared.

Final reports came out and finally confirmed that the initial substance will not be used in any way for treatment of cancer as it does not work.

The man died within weeks of hearing this.

Again the details are a little foggy but that is pretty much the gist of it.

As we know the brain is a super computer with powers we cannot even fathom.

I have seen people die from cancer....and it pretty much seems that this does happen. However, I have also seen people diagnosed with cancer, had it treated, and they continue to live life fully.

I believe it is because some people who are told they have "x" months/weeks/years left to live take that knowledge to heart and their thoughts dictate their life, or rather what is left of it....

"Our life is what our thoughts make it" - Marcus Aurelius
I love that quote and I really believe it applies to this situation.

As I said earlier, I also know people who have had cancer, had it treated and still live their lives to the fullest. But in every instance, they were never told they have only so much time left, because their cancer was treatable.

The mind is an amazing thing....

I've two family members to die of cancer both
within a couple of months of finding out they
    had it.

They lost faith. They BELIEVED they would die.
Everyone surrounding them BELEIVED they would die.

No one had any positive energy to contribute.

If I had known then what I know now......

I have read an article before, it says that medicine only contribute 30%
in the process of curing. The other 70% comes from your mind, your
    belief system.

That means, your belief system is much more powerful than the medicine
given by doctors. If you know how to make use of your belief system, you
can even cure cancer inside you. There are some real-life examples
of people who actually cured from cancer and recovered miraculously,
even doctors do not believe it..

Its been said our thoughts create our reality and I believe our thoughts to be energy. Upon being told of his condition this man dwelled upon his cancer generating negative energy which hastened his death.

Sounds like he died of cancer, and we have no way if knowing if the diagnosis had any effect on how long he lived.

How many people live with cancer for 5 years without knowing it? Many cancers would kill you quicker than that if left untreated.

I don't agree with the idea of not getting checkups and assuming everything is fine. If that were true why don't people live to be 200?

I read a book relating some interesting stories, the author was directing one big hospital in US and claimed that 80% of the people that come to be cured created their onw illness

one story of a man that was diagnozed to have a few months to live.
during the first week in the hospital his health wasn't that good
    This happened in 1920 sommething

and all his friends and relatives came to visit him with negatives thoughts

so after two weeks, this man remember that he had a dream of travelng around the world. So he decided to go for it even he needed heavy medication

everyone told him to not do it, as he will die sooner than what he can by staying surroounded by the best doctors

anyway, he say if i had to die, let's go for this dream realization

what happened is that after 1 month he feel better, and after 3 months he stopped all the pills and was fully cured. he travelled for one full year in Asia before coming back to his hometown and live like any other

so the director claim that if he had stayed in the hospital he would have probably died within a few months

I am inclined to agree with the above. Once one is diagnosed with cancer (and I mean any of the aggressive forms) then one seems to lose the will to live. I have been around for a while and I have lost many friends and family to the disease (in one form or another) and it seems only when people are diagnosed with it, do they suddenly become visibly and personally seriously ill.

The mind and the state of mind must play a part in this. Imagine being told that you are terminally ill - that must be devastating.

On the positive side, many (especially) young people these days, seem to be able to make a full recovery (sometimes after surgery) from a lot of the most common (but "less serious") cancers. Let's just hope that medical science and positive thoughts can move towards eradicating this terrible affliction.

    Regards,
    Jeff.

I too have lost loved ones to cancer. It is such a travesty that a cure exists for cancer but main-stream medicine won't acknowledge it, but that's a topic for another thread perhaps...

In my humble opinion, , the best cure for cancer is the positive mind: one's ability and ultimate decision to forgive themselves and others, and live life free from negative thoughts.

It reminds me of a number of stories I've heard about longtime spouses dying within a few months to a year of each other. One feels as though they can't live without the other, so they lose the will to live, and soon die.

The mind is a very powerful thing, and it has a lot more control over our bodies than we really know.

      Personally...

..nothing outside of ourselves can harm us..here's why..

Our physical world operates with images..that's it!..

Try to do anything without images and see how far we can get
or how long we can live..

"A sad remark was once made..that the world was created without
      an instruction manual"

I had a sister that had cancer/tumor if that's the same thing and was
only given 6 months to live..I ran away from home when I was 14 years
old and the family held it against me..

So after all the years have passed by, I ran into my sister and told me
she had only 6 months to live because of cancer..Now, I've been in
Personal Development 50 years already and this happen about 5 years
      ago..

She invited me to her house and I decided to help her without telling
her anything because she would'nt believe it..So I would go to her
house every Saturday and her husband would bar-b-que and they had
beer and I'm not much of a drinker but I drank a couple and started
talking to her in order to get that cancer out of her mind and the 6
      months she had to live..

Well, 2 years had passed by and she was still alive Now, she being taken
care from a charity hospital and maybe some of you know what that is..
they just don't give a damn!..

For some reason the rest of the family starting to come around because
she was still alive and she mention that we had been getting together
      every Saturday..

Well, they started putting some crap about me in her had and since she
was closer to them than me, she started to ignore me and making excuses
to keep me from going over there.

Well, you know the rest, I just can't contnue..

The images can work for us depending how we shape them..Since the brain
and body do not respond to reality it respond to those images and that is
      our instructional manual..

If we create an image that is sickly because somebody told us..guess what?
On the same token, if we create a healthy image guess what?..

If we create an image that we are poor..guess what?..If we create an image
      that we are successful..guess what?..

Will it work overnight?..are you serious?..with that junk we put in our heads..
it probably will take a while and a lot of practice..

I did discover some ways to speed it up..but I gotta go..but something to
think about and check it our for yourself..

I personally laugh at adversity, I am not sickly old man, I just have worn
      out body parts..

Well, technically we don't know what caused his death. Was it the news of the cancer? Was it something else in his life? It's impossible to say. Any statements claiming one cause or another is mere speculation.

That's not to say I don't believe in the power of the mind, the strength of positive energy in our lives to sustain us and carry us through. The story is good for sparking discussion, but if taken literally, there's no way to definitively answer the question.

For the sake of conversation, I will play devil's advocate.

      1. How do we know that the man had a diagnosis of cancer for 5 years if he didn't know? For unrelated reasons, I would love to see the medical test that could accurately predict the date when high grade dysplasia became malignant if a patient has not had medical care for 5 years.

      2. What changed that the man suddenly sought medical care? It's possible that the cancer changed or the dysplastic cells began "taking over" in another organ system and that the problems in that system resulted in the man's death.

I don't pose these questions to suggest that the mind is not a powerful thing, indeed it is. However, I am left wanting more information. Let's be honest, the reason that we have yet to find cures for a vast majority of cancers is that we don't completely understand them.
